"What if the man cheats on his wife?" I asked, "would he be executed?"
"No, the men don't get executed for cheating on their wives," Maria admitted with sad eyes.
"What!" I said in disbelief. "Why not?"
Maria clarified, "because men are more valuable to Cory, not the women."
I was thrown off by what she was telling me. "That doesn't seem right," I said in much shock.
"Maybe not but you being his future wife can give us women a voice now," Maria said more happily.
"How can I be a voice? I asked confused. "I am not going to be respected as a Primary Queen."
Maria giggled and said "Someday you will be respected. You marrying the Head King means you can stand against Cory and say you disagree with his decision."
"Isn't that considered a bold move?" I asked in dismay.
"It is a bold move I'll say for a Primary Queen to question the Head King's authority. But rightfully as his wife, you're the only one that can question him and request any demand from him. You have power over us ladies. Which means you could save us from punishment or even from death. You alone hold some power in your hands by being Cory's wife. Having that imprint with Cory will give you favor in his eyes. It would be a benefit for you to woo your husband. Just like the other past, Primary Queens had done with their husbands over time, during their reign. They give us ladies a better life." Maria further elucidated.
I swallowed hard on this one. It was a lot to take in so much responsibility. Honestly, I wasn't sure if I was ready to hold this kinda power.
"I'm not sure if I am ready to handle this type of responsibility to be a Primary Queen. How could I even stand up to him?" I asked feeling overwhelmed and defeated.
"What are you talking about?" Maria asked me giggling. "You've already been standing up to him!"
"What do you mean?" I asked bewildered by what she was saying.
But Maria laughed louder and said. "For starters, you tried running away how many times now? That alone with one offense would get you punished. Just a moment ago you were defiant with JJ who happens to be Cory's Primary. Acting like that towards any of Cory's Primaries will earn you a severe punishment. Unless a woman is pregnant, in labor, and hormonal after her pregnancy is the only duration you could get away with it. Other than that women and men aren't to disrespect the Primaries. Under Cory, they are the second command Bosses running this Kingdom."
"I'm honestly surprised he hasn't punished me yet," I admittedly told.
"Because Cory is being patient with you," exclaimed Maria. "But that doesn't mean keep pushing your luck. Patience only goes so far."
I deeply sighed and said feeling greatly depressed. "I just wish I could talk him out of this wedding."
Maria touched my shoulder before taking it away, she said. "Sally, there isn't anything you can do to change his mind."
Yet I could only frown at her words as I looked at Samuel looking up at us with bright eyes when he looked around.
Maria sighs lightly and then said softly. "Look Sally, I wish I could stop this wedding. And I even risked asking him if he'd postpone it."
"You did?" I asked sorta interrupting her.
Maria nodded slightly. "I did Sally, but Cory made it clear to me that this is going to happen. And you are to cooperate with it or else he will take it upon himself to enforce it."
"He's already doing that!" I raised my tone slightly.
"No, Sally, I mean he will take over the whole wedding, he told me. He'll pick your gown and decorations. You'll have a sloppy Royal wedding. He could make you marry him by this Moon Phase or by tomorrow and then try to impregnate you afterward. His patience only goes so far." Maria warned me.
"I guess I've been pushing his patience too much," I said frowning.
"Yes, you have," stressed Maria. "You need to accept this. Enjoy the memories of shopping for your Royal wedding. A lot of women don't always get the whole fun with making preparations for a wedding let alone getting a wedding gown. Your Royal wedding will be enough more spectacular because you're marrying the Head King."
"Alright, I will do my best," I told her sighing. "As long as your going to help me get through it."
Maria said smiling. "Why wouldn't I? You and I will always remain friends. And You'll be my Primary Queen."
"Thanks, Maria," I said and asked. "But what can I do about the women who are rejecting me as their Primary Queen?"
Maria laughed and said. "They're only acting like this because they see your fear. To be a Primary Queen you have to act like a Primary Queen. But if they still refuse to respect you. You can always tell Cory."
"I rather not go that route," I told.
"Well, if Cory finds out he could take it upon himself to correct it. And you better believe the ladies will obey Cory, the Primaries, and their husbands. He'll probably be fierce about it if he does." Maria proclaimed.
"I hope he doesn't," I said. "I'd rather figure this out myself."
Maria slightly smiled and told. "Then again he might already know and if he does maybe he's ignoring it, or I'm wrong and he doesn't know. The men don't always like getting involved with us women and our petty arguments. As long as we aren't physically fighting but we can verbally fight. That's likely how Rachel's behavior wasn't ever corrected."
I nodded, "I guess in due time I'll figure it out."
"You will," Maria encouraged me. "Now enough of this let's take the baby to the nursery. You and I are going to explore the woods, I want to show you something."
