Sally continued to pet the wolf and kept it to herself that she remembered her unfortunate dim light, she tried to run from her master.
"I don't know a lot about mind linking to a creature," said Sally still enthralled by Beast.
"I remember you telling me that before," I said chuckling. "It's a tricky thing to do. So let's go back to the creek and I'll explain it."
Altogether with Beast, we went back to the creek and took a seat on that log again. Beast sat on the ground facing me to the front of us with his ears pointed out.
I faced Sally sitting next to me on the log and begin. "To mind-link the first thing to know it is very dangerous but very rewarding once you have successfully set the link. Birds of the sky are the easiest to mind-link with. Creatures on the land or within the river or sea aren't easy. The only land creature anybody had ever been able to mind-link to. Has only ever been the wolf creature. Our generation were the only successful ones to start linking with this one wolf species. Nobody from any other generation has ever been able to mind-link with any other creatures on land, river, or sea. So mind linking with Beast was very perilous. The first couple of times, I tried, he about tore me to shreds."
"The first attempt, Beast did a number on his arm and ripped into it bad." Jay chuckled looking around my left to see Sally sitting on my right.
Aaron said sitting near Sally's right. "I thought the shoulder was bad too."
I chuckled seeing Sally's cute shocked facial expressions. "It took me four times to try. In the first attack, he nailed my arm good. The second attack was my shoulder and the third attack was my leg. He tore into me pretty good each time." Her mouth gaped open shocked to hear me.
"His mother wasn't too happy and said he needed to stop," Aaron mentioned chuckling.
I chuckled and said. "Yeah, she wasn't happy about it but I told her just one more time and then I'd stop. Luckily on the fourth try, the mind-link was successful."
"You would have continued even after the fourth failed attempt." Jay teased although he wasn't joking.
I laughed knowing my pals knew me well. "Yeah, I would have." I didn't deny that lied to my mother.
Sally giggled cutely listing to us, "how did you do it?"
"Well, the first step is you have to study the creature. Once the creature makes eye contact with you and approaches you to attack. You have to stand your ground and show him or her you are the authority. You have to show you're worthy to be his or her linked partnership. It's critical when the creature makes eye contact with you. That you have to keep your focus and stare him or her down and you mustn't show fear. You have to open your mind and let him or her read you. By reading you the creature can decide if he or she wants to rip you apart or form a mental link with you. The creature will challenge you and will wanna rip you apart. Others might just be aggressive and growl. Then possibly go their own way. They're all different. But regardless of what happens, you have to stand your ground and don't run." I explained.
"That's how you linked to Beast," she affirmed amazed.
"I did. Once I learned Beast was the alpha of his pack I knew I wanted to mind-link with him." I shared.
"Is that why you pick Beast because he is alpha of the pack?" She asked me with bright eyes, showing she was enjoying the tale of how I got Beast.
"Oh, yes," I answered and proceeded. "If you control the alpha of the pack you control the pack. That's why I always tracked him down and tried to mind-link with him. Took me four times to be successful."
"Wow!" She said glowing big and asked. "Hasn't anybody else tried to mind-link with other land creatures?"
I further answered her curious mind. "Oh, yes, but it's too risky. The other land creatures are very powerful and far more dangerous, especially the feline species are very aggressive. At the time, I thought the wolf was pretty aggressive, so I thought I could do it. But I was mistaken when I tried to mind-link with an antler male lion. I learned the hard way that it was too dangerous when I ended up getting my arm ripped off." Her eyes gaped huge as I chuckled for a second. "Anyways, all-male lion species are very protective with their females and cubs. Males have been known to kick members out of their pride with how aggressive they can get. But the females aren't too aggressive. Unless they have cubs or they're pregnant. So keep that in mind for safety reasons."
Sally sorta gestured to understand as Aaron informed her. "Around here there are a lot of different species of felines. When we spot them we have everyone go in and let the pride bypass."
"We have an antler lioness here," Jay told. "She was rejected out of the pack because she's albino. Her color caused her to be rejected. She is a loner but she hasn't attacked anyone and we keep an eye on her. She goes her own way once she sees anyone. The Wolf pack chases her off too."
"That is sad she is an alone lioness," said Sally having softer painful eyes. "So this is what you meant by reinforcements. You get protection from the wolf pack."
"That's what I meant," I confirmed to notice her sorrow about the lioness. "It is ashamed about the lioness but I think that's why she lurks around here. She's used to us and our noises. I feel we mend her loneliness."
Sally's face was sad to understand how the lioness would feel but pushed it aside.
"So what if you don't mind-link with the alpha?" She asked covering her sadness.
"If you don't mind-link with the alpha.
Then you don't get the pack. You just get that creature that your mind-link with. However, you can get the pack's trust, and sometimes that can be beneficial. This way the pack wouldn't be aggressive anymore." I answered assuming it up.
