"I wasn't talking about you, Sally." Nick explained showing some sincerity when he realized she misunderstood him. "I meant Cory wasn't happy with those scavengers." Nick understood she was bewildered and Cory struggled to show her a less ominous side of him.
Still disgruntled, I said to her. "I wasn't happy with the fact of what happened to you! And what those guys did to you..." I paused trying to contain my anger but failed miserably. "What they almost did to you! If my men and Nick didn't find you in time you would have been harmed and ****!" My words came out icy sharp but I was trying to cool myself down. But the thought of those men violating my bride drove me insane! I was furious they had the gall to hit my bride!
"Cory," Nick nudged me getting my attention. "Just calm down, she's ok and safe. You're not helping."
I observed Sally shuddering in dismay as her innocent eyes desperately pleaded. She was in trauma and my temper wasn't helping her. So I gritted my teeth and did something I wasn't sure if I could do. But I tamed down this anger and gave her a softer eye. I went to her on the bed to sit and stroked her hand very sincerely.
"Sally, my sweets," I started and caressed her lightly on the cheek so she couldn't steer away. "I am not going to punish you. I'm frustrated with those scavengers, not you." I had to choke hard on that last part. Especially when I saw her dress was torn. As best as I could I smiled at her and got off the bed and went into her closet. From inside, I found the new dress she bought yesterday hung on a hanger. I took it off the hanger and came back out and set it down on the bed.
"Why don't you change your dress," I said sorta putting up a strained smile.
Sally felt her fear slowly fade and even noticed Nick was trying to calm Cory down for her. She was surprised to discover Nick was watching Cory closely. Nick was there for not only Cory but for her too. Which helped her feel greater relief. Her eyes veered downward at the dress laid out on the bed. But then her eyes took a glimpse at her wrist.
"How did you still know where I was at?" Bravely, she asked looking between Cory and Nick. "I even took the tracker out of me but you still found me."
First, Nick and I crossed our eyes mystify. Then we both gave her a bizarre look.
Nick said more perplexed as he raised his eyebrow. "I can find you without a tracker, Sally. However, your tracker is still inside you. That's how I was able to locate you faster. It would have taken me a little longer without it. Those guys would've had their way with you if it wasn't for that tracker."
"How can it be?" She gaped at us in disbelief while telling us. "I cut the tracker out of me today."
"What did you cut out of yourself?" My brow lifted thinking I misheard her.
Fear filled her pupils as she stuttered. "I-I f-found something o-odd in my a-arm. S-so I thought it was the tracker you placed in my b-body. I-I found your k-knifes and g-got it out of me."
"How did you heal your open wound then, Sally?" Nick asked dumbfounded as he gave her a strange look. But she was mute for a second. We could tell she was scared of confessing any of this to us. So Nick tried again with a more delicate approach. "You're not in problem. Just please tell us what you found."
A minute passed, and then she spoke shaking in a softer voice. "From the first aid kit, I found it in the kitchen. When I hung out with Maria watching the girls."
"You're telling me you got into the supplies out of the first aid kit from the kitchen. Then went into my hidden weapons and took one of my knives to do all this?" I asked her in a serious tone. As I waited for an answer, I realized fear took her again from my stern tone. Her body was trembling and her fingertips fiddled with the dress laying out on the bed. I had to change my approach... Much more settled and soothing, I asked. "Where is the tracker you cut out of yourself?"
I was patient with her and even showed a softer attitude. As I saw her mouth open to speak.
"It's in my vanity." She told me in a nervous tone.
"May we please see it?" Nick asked very kindly.
She responded better with him over me and gave a head indication. She scooted herself off the bed to walk carefully to her vanity. Then she pulled out this small door and reached in grabbing the tissue holding the tracker inside. Partly meeting her in front of the bed. I held out my hand and she placed this blood-stained tissue in it. The second I unfolded the tissue. I found a tiny outdated capsule tracker device.
We don't even these things anymore for how old it was! My eyes gaped huge on this one. I didn't play around and took out my phone and scrolled through. Until I found who I needed and hit call.
Aaron answered. "Yeah?"
"I need you to get to my room now and bring a small baggie!" I told him and hung up this way he knew not to play around.
"Sally, while we wait for Aaron to get here. Why don't you go ahead and change." Nick told to her.
She nodded cautiously and got her dress from the bed. Then she went into the bathroom to change.
"I understand it's hard but lighten up," Nick whispered to me. "Your anger is scaring her."
"I know and I am trying it's this imprint." I shared with him but he understood.
