At first, I was thrown off and dumbfounded to hear what the small girl said to me. Nobody has ever praised me with such high-class respect. Then it kinda dawned on me the enslaved woman even called me, Milady. But something about hearing it come from a sweet little girl was a bit shocking.
Brushing it off, I walked with Clara out of the pool and placed a towel around her while the men were partly watching. So I tried to ignore their glancing eyes towards me. And helped Clara out with putting on her dress then I got myself dressed. Finally being done, I took Clara inside giving her to Maria. Who was standing directly across from Samantha on the same large round footstool, I spoke to Cory's mother on.
Samantha's heartbreaking cry's filled the room. I felt horrible as she was sitting on the man's lap holding her. The other man sat beside them holding a rag on her left knee as Samantha cry's out, "I want Daddy! I want my daddy!"
To the man's right side, Clara took a seat by the man holding her friend, "It's okay Samantha." She said softly.
But Samantha just cried repeating her words on how she only had wanted her daddy. I realized as I stood here by Maria. Clara was just as loving as her mother. To observe this was very heartwarming for me.
Two more men came in from the left entrance to aid Samantha with her cut.
As Maria kinda leaned in whispering to me, "These guys are Highest-Rankers from JJ's Division named Conner and Zion. Dealing with injuries in the medical field is also part of their job. The two men from Jay's Division are Daniel and Zig."
I kinda bobbled my head as we stood back watching.
Daniel sitting by Zig the man holding Samantha moved from his seat and randomly walked back outside. As Conner and Zion who just walked in examine the cut on her knee. Zion sat next to Zig's left, as Samantha was bawling her eyes off. Her face was glistening in wet tears flooding from her eyelids.
Conner kneeled on one leg getting a better look at her knee, "I need to glue her knee back up, it's too deep. A healing wipe would be useless." He confirmed.
As Samantha sat on Zig's lap screaming out loudly; "I want my daddy!" She repeated it several times.
"Samantha, daddy is in a meeting he will get you once he is free." Said Zig cradling her.
Meanwhile, Zion was trying to find the sticking glue from inside the first aid kit. Once he found it, Zion handed it to Conner. When Maria went over and got Clara to give the men space to work on Samantha. After getting the healing glue ready Zion held her legs still and steady. So Conner could start healing up her knee.
Poor Samantha, screamed hysterically as he glued her knee back together. After he was done and her knee was healed. All three men tried calming her but she wasn't reasoning with them.
Still sitting down next to Zig holding her, Zion said, "It's over with kiddo you don't need to cry anymore."
But she still only cried with many tears rolling down her cheeks. So Conner who fixed Samantha's knee said looking at Maria while he stood back up. "Maybe you should comfort her, Maria. She might respond better to you."
Maria giggles, "Lacking the nurturing part." She said teasing. All three men laughed rather loudly.
Then Zion spoke, "Even my girls respond better to their mother, whenever they get hurt."
Maria giggles as Zig stoop up with Samantha and then placed the crying girl down. Still holding her baby, Maria and Clara sat between Samantha.
"It's ok baby girl." Rubbing her hair, Maria said sweetly, "Your daddy will be hereafter the meeting." She held Samantha with one arm around her while she continues to cry. After cleaning up the used medical supplies. Zion and Conner left the room and Zig went back outside.
"Come on Samantha, let's go swimming," Clara begged with a pouty face. "Please Samantha, it will help you feel better." She pleaded with her friend to go swimming a few more times.
Seeing the sad pouty face Clara had, "Here I'll hold Samantha." I said stepping forward, "You can take Clara swimming. I'll come out once she's calmed down."
"Ok, if you need anything come out and get me," Maria told me as she stood up taking Clara by the hand. Then she leads her back outside to go swim. While I took a breath and pick up Samantha who was very lightweight. So I easily sat down putting her on my lap. As she continued to cry and begged for her daddy again. I kinda brainstormed for a second since this was the first time I've ever held a small child. My experience with children was down to zero. Saying that in my head made me feel pathetic.
"I want my daddy!"
Like an internal instinct, I gently started rocking Samantha in my arms and combed my fingertips through her hair. Just like I saw Maria do before we switched places. So I wasn't sure if anything I was doing was correct or not, but I was trying to help Samantha feel better.
Then sorta sudden, I heard her cry gradually subside into a lighter whimper. Soon enough, she stopped crying altogether, I only heard some sniffling but that was about it. I couldn't believe I did it! Ok, now Sally, you are gloating but at the same time, I couldn't help it. This was my first experience interacting with a child and quite frankly, I loved it.
As Samantha sat herself up facing me.
Using her forearm, she dried her tears asking, "Can I have a drink now?"
"I don't know where the kitchen is," I said feeling a bit helpless but I didn't know my way around the mansion.
Now Samantha said like nothing was ever wrong with her previous bawling. "I know where." She hopped off my lap and tugged my hand with a happy smile, "Come on Aunt Sally, it's this way."
