2006 - Kansas State Penitentiary
I sped into the high security prison, traversed the layout of the facility with ease, then ended up in Lionel Luthor's cell. I grabbed Lionel and pressed the Fortress device and used the Speed Force to assist in the transfer of energy needed to heal him of his degenerative liver disease.
I took Lionel into Flash Time by continuing to hold onto his shoulder.
"Lionel Luthor," I said. "My name is Kal-El. I am also known as Superman. We are currently moving faster than everyone around us so time has appeared to stop still so don't move and just listen. I have healed you of your degenerative liver disease through the use of special nanites and a boost of extradimensional energy to speed the process and boost the healing. You have a new lease on life. What you do with it is up to you. But I strongly encourage you to keep your son under control. I also want to inform you that the device Project Veritas had custody of has been taken by me to prevent any shenanigans by people like your son. I strongly encourage you to use what little influence you have to control your son before he does something we all regret."
Lionel looks shocked at the lack of pain and malaise. He feels like a new man due to the healing. He said, "Thank you… Kal-El. This is more than I deserve. These last few years here have been hell. But it's given me a lot of time to think things over. I don't want Lex to end up like me. There's such darkness inside him."
"I would also like to inform you that Lex as a child did not kill his brother Julian. His mother didn't want the child to end up like with your relationship with Lex. She feared his soul would be destroyed by you, and you would end up with another pawn competing for your affection. Your wife smothered Julian with a pillow, smiled happily that he was finally at peace, then walked away to go to sleep in peace. Lex walked in on his mother just after killing Julian, and he decided to take the blame to prevent you from killing his mother out of anger." I said.
Lionel has a pained look on his face, "How could you possibly know all this?"
"Are you really underestimating The Traveler?" I asked haughtily.
Lionel's eyes open wide, but he doesn't say anything.
"Goodbye, Lionel. Try to repair your relationship with your son." Then, I let go of Lionel, releasing him from Flash Time, and I leave the way I came.
I decided to heal Lionel to reward his behavior of trying to help Clark, even after death in canon. The only thing I'm cautious of is that the transference of spirits didn't occur, which may not have altered his brain chemistry to eradicate the darkness lurking in him. But I figured with being healed Lionel may have the strength and will to appeal his sentence, bribe people, or try to escape and cause trouble for Lex. It will make things much more interesting. And with the Veritas orb no longer in their possession, I don't feel threatened - especially considering my immunity to kryptonite.
My meeting with Lionel reminded me of a couple loose ends. I flew to Canada to Christopher's Cathedral in Montreal. I tore the piece hidden in the clock out of its hiding place and destroyed it. Edward Teague appeared and told me to kill Lex Luthor as he would be my most dangerous enemy as the Naman and Segeeth prophecy would be in effect, or so he claimed. I declined to murder Lex, and he immediately brought out a kryptonite weapon. I pretended to be affected and fell down.
He dragged my body and then carried me to where the rest of the liquidated meteor rock was. He poured it out and it spread out along the table. The design of the table made it so the liquid kryptonite traveled along the lines of the table, spreading it throughout the entire structure, surrounding the body of the person laying on the altar, preparing them for sacrifice. This nearly killed Clark in canon, however, I just wanted to orchestrate this so he revealed his kryptonite stash so I wouldn't have to tear this place apart looking for it. It's a church after all, that would be rude.
My hands broke free from the restraints, and I quickly placed my hands in the pool of liquid kryptonite and absorbed all the radioactive energy, turning the liquid clear.
Edward Teague raised his kryptonite-encrusted staff and said, "How is this possible? The pieces of your homeworld are poisonous to you!"
"Sorry, I didn't get the memo," I said as I absorbed the energy from his green kryptonite, turning the crystal clear. "I don't want to be hubristic, but I've received a bit of an upgrade." I smiled cockily. "Thanks for the pick-me-up. It's similar to how coffee gives you a boost. If you find any more meteor rock, feel free to send it my way so I can absorb it. I'd like to get rid of most of the kryptonite on earth since it causes mutations in humans, plants, animals, and even spores. It's certainly not something I'd carry around with me like some of these people do. Anyway, that was just some advice. Feel free to warn the other surviving members of Veritas that this stuff is worthless to me other than feeling like a 5-hour energy supplement."
His face looked graver and graver as I spoke.
"Don't worry, Eddie. I'm embracing my destiny. You can call me Superman." I said with a bright smile. "Take care. And try to stop this secret society stuff. It never ends well."
