2006 - Metropolis, Kansas
Lana Lang is driving, listening to music when an athletic black man in a purple shirt and black pants drops from the sky and lands in front of Lana's car causing her to crash into him. Her car folds from the crash, and the man isn't moved even an inch - he doesn't have a scratch on him.
Lana calls me to inform me of the accident. I visited her to check on her injuries then tracked down Victor Stone aka Cyborg (while wearing my Superman outfit).
"Who the hell are you supposed to be?" Victor asked.
"Superman...Victor Stone, your girlfriend Katharine will be leveraged as a hostage to ensure you comply with the demands of the doctors that performed your modifications." I answered.
"What the hell? How do you know about Katherine?" Victor asked.
I floated off the ground in front of Victor and said, "Among my abilities, I possess a remarkable level of deductive reasoning and foresight. Now, the question is: Do you want to prevent Katherine from being used as a bargaining chip and receive an upgrade that will allow you freedom from having to receive constant maintenance in the hands of the people that did this to you?" I asked.
Victor grimaced and asked, "What do you need me to do?"
I reply, "Very simple. We damage your arm in a specific place that keeps you functioning, but in a reduced capacity necessitating an upgrade. We allow you to appear weak to your captors. Katherine has already been kidnapped by Lex Luthor's order. You will go to Katherine's house this evening where the doctor in charge of this Cyborg project will be waiting for you. You will allow him to upgrade you. After your upgrade, they will attempt to modify you to turn you into an emotionless robot. Before that occurs, we will break you out, rescue Katherine, and make sure she can't be used as leverage in the future. Any questions?"
"No. If you promise to help me rescue Katherine, I'll do whatever you want." Victor said.
"Very well. You'll be waiting in an abandoned warehouse until nightfall. I've decided rather than letting you suffer from your injuries all that time. I will injure your arm right before you go to Katherine's. The key to this ruse succeeding is you must appear to be severely damaged. Can you fake being weak?"
"Are you kidding? I've done it before to skip out on a game." Victor answered.
"Okay. Let's get you into an unused warehouse to wait for nightfall."
I flew him to a warehouse and waited for nightfall. Then, I returned to laser his arm in a specific place (where he would have been shot at the Kent farm originally). After that, I dropped him off at Katherine's to talk to the doctor to finish the rest of this ploy.
When the upgrades were finished, I busted him out of the facility before the chip could be put in his head. I sent an anonymous, encrypted email to Lex Luthor threatening to release all the information regarding the Machina project if he pursued Victor Stone any longer. I retrieved Katherine and brought them together to discuss his future, but not before leaving him a device to contact me if he ever needs me.
