The day was not as tense as the previous day but the tension was still there. Today, there would be a family meeting which was inclusive of all the residents of Umar mansion. The old man had informed them about the meeting after the Morning Prayer. The announcement had made a lot of the members dread the outcome while others looked forward to it.
It was finally time for the meeting. Every resident of the mansion was present except Humeyra. The ladies were seated separately from the men as was the norm. The silence in the air increased the nervousness and tension in the room.
Everyone did their own thing trying to avoid each other’s gazes. The only one who appeared well rested and carefree was Hafsa. It was ten minutes after the rest have settled that Humeyra strolled in leisurely. She sat at the furthest corner of the mat leaning against the wall.
