Chereads / I Just Wanna Sleep / Chapter 25 - The Undead Lord (2)

Chapter 25 - The Undead Lord (2)

After using Mind Dive, an ability from the Necromancy skill, what appeared before me was the same battlefield that I just escaped from, but this time we were alone.

"What? This is..., no. Where did you bring me?"

About the same time as I opened my eyes, the undead lord checked its surroundings and glared at me.

"Hmph, do you think I'm going to obediently answer you? Besides, you should be able to figure it out yourself."

At my taunt the undead lord snorted, before further examining the environment.

"This is, our shared space. The place in our memories that we share the deepest memories with."

"Bingo, not that you'll be getting a prize."

I could also use Mind Dive to kill directly, but I knew it wouldn't be that effective against it. Besides, the main reason I brought us here was to cancel that annoying immortality which allows it to revive as long as it has one surburdinate that's alive.

"Hmm, looks like you've done your research. Not only has my Charisma been sealed, you actually have a chance of killing me since we can no longer use any skills or magic that affect the outside world."

"Oh, I didn't expect you to be so accepting of your loss. But don't be full of yourself, even with your followers I could still beat you."

"Kiki, what an energetic youngster. However, I see a fatal flaw with your preparation,"

"And what's that?"

In response to my flat-toned question, flesh wrapped onto the undead lord's bones and in the blink of an eye, it became a small giant casting a shadow at ten feet tall. In this shared space imagination had more potential, but it was hard to imagine something you couldn't do in reality, which means this was likely,

'Hulk, eh? I guess it fits.'

Unlike the one I knew, even after transforming into this state, the undead lord's face showed no expression. Even when it lowered its gaze to me, I saw nothing but apathy.

'So I'm being looked down on, perfect.'

The undead lord looked at its fists and clenched them before answering me.

"You made the mistake of assuming I would be weak because I specialized in giving orders."

"Tsk tsk, did you lose your hearing? I already said," in the middle of replying I pounced at the small giant with my fists covered in holy-imbued white blaze.

"I'd still kick your ass!"

'What?!'

I was sure that this attack would at least make contact when I had such a big target to work with, but right after I swung my fist, the tall figure in front of me vanished and reappeared on my left.

'Its agility hasn't dropped!'

I quickly recollected myself and crossed my arms to block the fist that covered half of my body. In this world I could do anything I put my mind to, so despite my lack of practice I could quickly use the reinforcement technique on my arms, and it was a good thing I did.

Bam!

Its fist came at me like a truck, slamming me into the ground and forcing me to bounce a couple times as well. if it wasn't for my quick reaction that one punch alone would have finished me off.

'Tch, I can use the full power of my stats but I can't compare to it in this case. Good thing I picked this up from my familiars.'

It was easier to ignore my pain in this space, but I still had to spit out a mouthful of blood before getting back to my feet. Unfortunately, just as I stood up again its fist was coming for my head. But this wouldn't be a repeat.

With my entire body coated with a light blue light, I narrowly evaded its fist and swung my leg into its gut. It was only forced back two steps, but it was enough. Though I could fight it by using the reinforcement technique, that didn't mean I had to.

I summoned a large bone from the ground and used Imbue Holy on it before swinging it. The bone shattered as the undead lord took my attack without flinching, but burn marks remained where the bone hit it.

'Again!'

I clenched my fist and like the jaw of a large beast, sharp bones popped out from around the undead lord to fill it with holes.

"Hmph."

To avoid being punctured, the undead lord leaped several feet into the air, just where I wanted it.

'Javelin.'

In an instant, I made a thin bone with two pointy ends appear and held it with my shoulder taut and my hand behind my head. This may have been my first battle since absorbing the lich, but all possible combinations for my skills revealed themselves like suggestions from a search engine.

With a form I made up on the spot, I aimed and shot the bone at the undead lord after using Imbue Holy.

Whoosh!

As if it teleported, the bone made impact almost at the same time as I let it go, but all it could do was knock the undead lord off course for its landing. Still, that was enough.

'Poltergeist + Shape Darkness ='

With Dark Magic I made two enormous jet-black hands that crushed the undead lord between them. Since these hands were directly linked to my own senses, I could feel the resistance being offered but I only poured in more mana to keep it trapped, and then-

"Cursed White Blaze."

"Grrr!!!"

Since these black hands counted as my hands, I could use magic from them that burned the undead lord while it struggled to escape. I didn't expect this to finish it, just the fact that it was being damaged would do.

'Still, wouldn't mind if you died here and made it easy for me?'

I won't deny that there were a few optimistic thoughts, but there wasn't much time before it destroyed such naive hopes. Slipping out of its thick body like it was a costume, the undead lord dropped to the ground in its skeleton form.

"Tch."

After clicking my tongue, I immediately dispelled the black hands as the undead lord charged at me with its flesh rushing out again like it was regenerating its shed skin. I jumped and confronted the charging mass of flesh with my feet, not to do any damage or stop it, but to be blown back far enough to get out of danger.

"Hmm!!"

While I flipped through the air, it ripped a sizeable piece of the ground from the land and threw it at me. However a single black hand was all I needed to crush that projectile, and then make a safe landing. Even so, there was no hint of complacency as I immediately slammed my palms on the ground to summon pointy bones imbued with holy attribute that shot at the undead lord.

As usual, it charged through them, but in the middle of its path I made a sharp bone appear. Unlike the other bones, this one was much bigger and was steady in the earth as its point faced the undead lord's incoming momentum.

Chhhhh!!!

The sound they made as they collided was like two metals grinding against each other. The bone was still holding up, but that was only because I continuously pumped in mana to fix any damage done to the bone. This tense stalemate only lasted for a couple seconds until the undead lord was forced to take two steps back. The relief that tried to reveal itself was quickly crushed by my rational mind as I moved on to my next attack.

*Snap* *Snap*

I snapped my fingers twice in succession, and assembled an exhibition of white blazes that I then fired at the enemy.

"Grr!!!"

I knew the undead lord would only be temporarily forced to stay in place by this technique, so without missing a beat I also used Poltergeist to cause all of the fallen and broken bones to fly at the undead lord, creating a porcupine prison to hold him in as I started my real attack.

I created a bow with Bone Magic and made the arrow take the shape of a cone. I could manipulate the shape and density of these bones so any ancient-type of weapon could be created, but most would just break when confronting the undead lord.

"Gr, gah!!"

Even though I increased the force that the bones applied, it still broke free, but my arrow was already wrapped in a blinding white light and was ready to fire.

"Holy White Blaze,"

The undead lord smirked when it saw the bow and arrow, likely confident that it could dodge, but I was sure of the opposite future. I didn't have many archery-related memories, but I was sure this would land as long as I locked on to my target.

"Cannon."

As I saw the line of light that shot from my hands through the undead lord, I couldn't help thinking that it was more of a laser than a cannon.

The undead lord stumbled backwards in shock at the appearance of this hole in its chest, but soon after that, the shock disappeared and it laughed manically.

"Kikiki! That was close. That was dangerously close! If I didn't notice this from early on I may have lost to you."

It couldn't even regenerate the damage I dealt to it so I wondered where this confidence came from, and I found my answer.

'Did it actually find them?'

Now wary of why the undead lord was sure it could turn the tables, I narrowed my eyes.

"Kikiki, before I move on, tell me which demon sent you."

"Demon? For some reason that sounds like something I don't need to talk about with you."

'Cus, I don't know what you're talking about.'

"Hmph. Fine, I'll find my answer from your dead body."

The undead lord then stomped the ground and in response, they appeared. In this space there should be no way to summon undead because there were no wandering souls or strong remnant emotions in this imaginary space that could be used to control the undead body, but the way to change that was simple. There only needed to be extra souls that weren't imaginary, and the pieces I hadn't fully absorbed were the perfect examples.

"Muhahahahaha!!"

One by one, skeletons and zombies that I had defeated before rose from the earth. I couldn't really see anything familiar about them, except for one. One that lost its former intelligence, but still reminded me of that time it nearly killed me.

"As I thought, you really did eat Lucarius. But thanks to that, not only has my Charisma activated, you'll need to kill both of us at the same time to win!"

The undead lord seemed to become drunk on its delusions of victory as its body shrunk and the massive wound closed, so I only sighed and looked at it while making my displeasure clear.

"Do you have a hearing problem? How many times do I have to tell you that I could still beat you even outside of this place?"

At this stage I had no choice but to show why my words weren't a bluff.

'Dragon Form, activate.'
