Chapter 10 - 2.2 (Robes)

So to get this straight, I died by falling into a spike trap. Yet my wound is all healed, it even struck my heart... so how?

Along with the time back in this world I've also figured out parts of how magic works. For my staff it's beyond unlimited, I've been able to turn gravity up and down, side to side just by thinking. That weapon personality thing that Banny's mom was talking about must be helping me. As I feel something else help me, a glowing sort of feeling.

Now onto magic circles, have no clue how they work. Although there's most likely books on them so I'll just check those out while going to the village. The bigger issue would be the enemies.

First, robed men killed me once. Although I healed, but in the school robed men were attacking Mr. Kori. this would suggest that they know Mr. Kori, but the people watching me in the hospital didn't know about Mr. Kori.

Secondly, I am a fugitive. Which means that the robed men must be targeting me to turn me back in. But does the hospital know who I am, probably not since they seem like they are trying to confirm if I am or not.

This means there's two parties targeting me, one knows who I am, and the others is in the dark but knows I come from lukcor.

Lastly, the silver haired boy. He's the most mysterious, hard to say if he's a good guy or a bad guy. He might be the one who sent such hideous monsters at me, but that's only speculation.

Enju falls back on the grassy forest floor, "only two hours Gly but you have ate over 28 loaves of bread for just two hours of flight!"

"Don't blame me, I like bread... such marvelous taste, oh and the many types. Get me more bread and I may fly longer."

"You gluttonous dragon! But fine although what type of bread would you like?"

"Any, I must taste and have them all."

Enju hops out and starts moving away from the campsite. She passes Banny's tent with heavy snores coming from deep inside.

Reminds me of father's loud snores...

Enju starts walking towards the village, but gets abruptly stopped. She feels the gaze of thousands, creeping closer. Enju goes to grab her bow but hesitates, she instead grabs her staff and waits.

The serene quiet forest echoes out a silent laughter, a laughter of pity. Enju finds a quick arrow flying past her face from the right. In an instant Enju taps the circle of her staff. She casts up a gravity field and starts looking around.

The ground under her starts crumbling but with a faster reaction she's able to only trip a little while keeping the debris floating in place. Laying down on the bed of debris three people in robes jump at her. Their attack shortly stopped as the gravity field flings their body back into the ground.

She finds another arrow fly right next to her but the downward pull of the field prevents it from reaching Enju.

Enju unaffected by the gravity leg swipes the three men who are struggling to even keep their legs up.

"Ay! You in the trees! C'mere or Ima turn them into a poof." Cmon take the bait, you're answering my every question.

She finds a spike made of the dirt fly next to her neck, before collapsing. From out of the forest comes a young girl, about the same age as Banny.

She stares at Enju with eyes that would kill if it could.

Her crossbow has a magic circle on the sight bridge. Wearing a white robe against with a purple crystal on the right side of her chest.

"Answer my questions and you may go back okay?"

No response

"Who are you people?"

"The grandmaster's guar-" a whistle echoes, and without proper handling of the staff. Enju is unable to prevent the girl from throwing the crystal into the ground. The crystal shatters, following with a blanket of pink smoke.

Enju can't see past a few meters in front of her. She takes down her gravity field to conserve energy and flies on top of one of the debris flying out of there. The entire forest is filled with a pink hazy smoke. She also finds the tree flying up at Enju, long, skinny, tree spikes. Enju pulls out her bow and shoots it at the tree, causing the entire branch to implode on itself. With the tree out of the equation Enju looks down checking for anymore.

One, they can track me, two they are said to be grandmaster guard... didn't Mr. Kori also talk about following the grandmaster? But at the same time they did attack him in the school so probably not on good terms.

Why me though... I know I'm a fugitive but Mr. Kori isn't one, so... argh this is something about this body but I don't even know who this body is...

Enju soon finds her body, not responding to her brain. Then gets an overwhelming feeling of tiredness, the rush has run out.

She feels weightless in the sky, the calming air flowing through her long hair lagging behind her body.

I don't want to go back not yet!

Enju clutches her staff hard, her body hearing her cry. She taps on the circle of the staff, what follows is a wave of warmth gushing into her body. The type of warmth that eases your heart, the type of warmth that comes out of a good calm Christmas chimney fire.

Enju's body jerks to a stop, her body inches above the ground. My own magic is gonna kill me one of these days. Enju drops herself to the ground with a tired fall.

Her vision darkens, along with her entire body stabbing at the tired lungs.

Gly... help me

With that she's grabbing the air, she's in the hospital. Waving her hand in front of a shining light gazing down upon her blonde haired body.

She sits upon the bed gazing at the camera. What to do...

Wait

Enju grabs a pen and paper with the plan of the century. She creates little paper balls, shoving them into the camera. She then stands next to the door and waits.

Right on time the nurse walks in, but before she even sees Enju a burst of white smacks her into the face. Enju slaps a piece of paper on the nurses face and runs off into the hallway.

Plan completed... but now what do I do...

Shiiiiiit

Enju starts running, looking for her fathers room.

Wait no bad idea

Instead she finds a receptionist.

"Dave Kori! Where can I find him?"

"Family, or friend."

She finds guards down the hallway. Without a seconds thought Enju turns from the hallway.

Face away while tying her hair up.

"Family." With a calm demeanor and bringing the best out of her voice she gives an answer.

"Room 251."

Enju starts walking but she hears the footsteps of the guards coming.

Enju starts giving them a chase past the halls but they get closer and this frail body isn't going to cut running any more laps. With a quick turn around a 90 degrees hallway the guards follow.

Yet as they turn they're met without a target to follow. Down the halls are some pillars, and open window. The most obvious spot would be a room to the right, the two guard enters the room and give a little gander. Just a janitor's closet, they continue searching further inside not finding a thing.

This is not how I wanted to spend my day...

Enju starts giving haste coming out from behind one of the pillars.

251, Enju walks in without even a knock. Only problem is the smile of a doctor awaiting her alongside her goal.

"Come sit. Greet your father."

Enju, with meticulous eyes starts looking around the room. Only a pen would be of any use however...

I could stab and leave with father...

Her legs however says otherwise. Her hands resist the temptation, and even her stomach says otherwise. All pointing to the worse ending, and so she resists. Leaving such a useless idea behind.

"Come, say hello to your father."

======================================

What awoke me this morning wasn't what I expected, real rough voice not the girly morning wake up call I was wanting.

"Wake up human."

Sitting up and at the base of my tent entrance was a giant scary beast. Oh wait no that's just the lizard, he seems like he's grown again... weird, I often wonder if I could ever grow that fast.

"I have a name you know."

"I've never caught it." either this oversized lizard forgot it or he's telling the truth.

"It's Banny!" Proclaiming my name again in front of this lizard... hah... "So what's with the wake up call?"

Dang... stretching and yawning feels great on a full belly. Although going to bed so early with a full stomach feels really weird, like a long lost family member coming back.

"The idiot went and used too much magic, now we have to go save her."

"Ah? Say what now?" Her? She needs saving? Her magic capabilities and magic are thousands above me... and she needs saving? "She has two weapons, how did she use up enough magicule to the point she needs saving?"

"Complicated stuff really, tell you after we save the girl."

"Do I get food afterwards?" Maybe some nice rabbit meat... but then I would have to go hunt.

getting up from out of my comfy bed, I will miss it dearly, I get on top of the jade beast. "What color are you? Jade, emerald, or green?"

"About that... I can't see myself all too often and when I do it's usually in murky water."

"Then how about I promise to get you a nice mirror so you can look at yourself in your reflection?"

"What is your second goal? Why try and please me?"

"Uh I don't know, I just feel like it i suppose."

He shut up about it afterwards, not even a hint of him breathing could be heard. It seems like he doesn't trust me at all, doesn't really matter all too much to me though.

The woods look similar to my woods, great tall trees that tower above me and my height. With each step this beast takes I feel a really nice feeling coming back to my body. Bobbing up and down with the wind blowing, sitting behind my father...

A sudden halt right before a long pit, did she fall into it again? Hopping off I inspect the inside of the teeth riddled holes. No blood and another chunk of ground gone. Probably doesn't need first aid, then again she did heal all those wounds in just a day by herself...

"do you know her precise location?"

The beast raises a leg up and points into a direction. Running back I also find some weapons on the floor, interesting if I do say. Picking one up I can definitely say these are higher quality than this dagger.

Abruptly the beast starts running again. "Why not fly?"

"I have to save it for later."

"Then what would happen if she's dead?"

"I would just fly alone."

"Ditching me?"

"Of course." Oh... feel like he's giving off an evil smirk. "Then why are you letting us follow you?"

The beast about to make a statement with a breath of air catches his tongue and knots it up before continuing. Why would he let us follow...

Shortly we find the body of the silver haired magician. Laying, definitely looks like she's passed out. Yet feels like theres multiple people waiting.

"Ay greeny."

"You can tell they're waiting to?"

"Well it's obvious isn't it?"

"Well no matter, I've concentrated all my magic away I won't be able to assist outside of tail swiping if we're going sneaky."

"Why are you afraid of them? Also couldn't you breath magnificent fires?"

"I don't want to harm the forest."

"Uh... then I say we go sneaky?" This beast has got to be messing with me. I hop off and draw the sword while sneaking around the dense forest floor. Really unlucky she fell into the open but I should make do with it.

I'm probably 8 or so meter away from the first person. He seems like an ordinary person though, with clothes just as bad as mine. Yet I still struck him down although with just the hilt of the sword connecting to his forehead. Not too hard not too light, yet he wasn't even aware or ready for an attack. Without a moments notice I felt something beyond that of my power, standing above me. Sword and hilt on his hip as he looks at me hands behind his back, and a sharp glare. My eyes trying to keep low and not make contact.

"What are you doing? Child."

My hands then move on their own out of complete fear I stab at him. Futile, as my entire body drops to the wet soil by some force. His blade barely peeking outside of the hilt. On the handle i spotted a magic circle along with his thumb next to it, activating it.

"I ask again, what're doing here? Attacking my people?"

This time my tongue and voice completely retreats from my throat. This feels like the end... I don't want to... I don't want to die. A month ago maybe, but not now. Now I've found an angel...

My voice finally comes up this time with reinforcements. "T-"

My head, what was I gonna say.... and my eyes, it's not lifting up... not listening to me...

======================================

Gly comes in like a cannon and picks up Banny running to Enju throwing Banny on his back while grabbing and picking up Enju through his claws.

Gly tries to high tail it out through the air. Although a force comes down upon him pinning him to the ground. Gly quickly gathers up his magicule and activates it, drawing a magic circle using magicule and putting up a barrier. Without a second thought he flies, far from the clearing.

He continues flying until he's back at camp, body aching from such a painful drop. Resting might be a good option for me but these two... I need to protect them...

Through the day Gly, like a wolf sat and watched the trees. Scared, scared of that human coming for a hunt. The pain never subsides, and he watches around the clock for his and these two sakes. That wasn't air magic... or anything like that... that was the full potential of gravity magic...

He could've killed Enju and all three of us but didn't... why?
