Chapter 9 - Volume 1 - Chapter 9: It Wasn't Obvious

As the egg started forming cracks, Clodwal the only person present eagerly waited for what's to appear and not to his surprise as he already guessed, it was a small baby dragon. It had deep black scales that resemble obsidian, four legs and a pair of wings as well as a blade-like horn attached to it's forehead. Clodwal stroked his chin as he analyzed the baby dragon's body who on the other hand was imprinting him as it's mother, he noticed the similarity between his eyes and the little dragon's.

Clodwal: (Does it have golden eyes because of the recent action I've done of feeding it with my energy..?)

The dragon cub let out a small "Tweet" and suddenly leaped and went straight to Clodwal's chest which the latter caught and held in his arms. But he noticed something peculiar, his clothes around the chest looked like it was cut by numerous blades.

His clothes were repaired in an instant and to identify what caused the damage, he looked at the cub's scales which seemed extremely sharp just from the looks. He may not have noticed due to his immunity to cuts and his overwhelming durability but it did not hide the fact his clothing was shredded. He then remembered a time where he always wanted a pet, and speaking of pets the natural thing to do when receiving one is naming it, he asked for it's thought.

Clodwal: "Your mother gave you to me, I therefore beseech you to become my companion. That incites giving you a name would be something worth giving value to, that's why, will you agree in letting this one name you..?"

He did not expect a reply from an unintelligent species but still asked curiously if it would, as it wouldn't seem embarrassing talking to oneself without anyone other than him knowing. The cub replied with a small whistling sound from it's mouth that gave Clodwal the thought that it agrees, it might have been the same method of communication it's mother made to contact Clodwal.

Clodwal: "Your name... Will be ๐˜‰๐˜ข๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ถ๐˜ต..."

A status screen appeared in front of Clodwal. Just from the moment he saw it, he could already tell that it was a Soul Status.

Moments later, Bahamut's eyes grew brighter and so did Clodwal's then slowly faded. A voice Clodwal has not heard of for a while then spoke.

Azathoth: "Congratulations on getting your first companion. I'm so proud of you. Well let's put that aside for now, since you became that dragon's master I'll give you a congratulatory gift to commemorate this grand event."

Clodwal: "..."

Azathoth: "I'll be removing some of your [๐˜š๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜Ž๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ'๐˜ด ๐˜Œ๐˜บ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด] limits, I'll unlock your ability to see everything in the universe."

Clodwal: "Is that even possible..? For someone other than you to see the whole universe..?"

Azathoth: "I am everywhere in the omniverse, not just the universe. And yes it's possible, the information just needs to go to your head. What do you think happens when you look at something? The information from sight is sent to other parts of the brain, which ultimately processes the image and will allow you to know the surrounding's information."

Clodwal: "I see... So I don't need to see them but know them..."

Azathoth: "Precisely, every last information that your eyes can give such as color by directly seeing them, the information will then be equally distributed to the brain, and as your INT stat is high, I'm certain you won't go insane, though it might hurt you a ti~ny bit in the head, as to not get overflown with information try to limit it's range. That's all for now, Rimuru and Reinhard are waiting for me, we were just having a tea party while watching your uncle Sakamoto start his journey."

Clodwal: "I see... Where's captain Neko..?"

Azathoth: "Oh right, you're a Coalition member too. They're currently staying at a village in the Molonia country, it's pretty much a long journey by carriage, but I'm sure you can go there in an instant."

Clodwal: "My sister, Atala..?"

Azathoth: "Ahhh, too many questions. She's currently serving as a bodyguard for the third princess of Arkheist. Now then, I'll be going, see ya--"

The voice being transmitted to Clodwal's thoughts was rudely cut off. It seems like he went back to the mentioned tea party with the red haired knight and the overpowered slime.

Clodwal felt relieved after knowing of his sister's safety, Bahamut looked relieved as well meaning they were sharing the same emotions which somehow peaked some of Clodwal's interest and gave motivation for further research. He then had the idea to see what the others are doing with his [๐˜š๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜Ž๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ'๐˜ด ๐˜Œ๐˜บ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด]'s newly unlocked ability.

So he closed his eyes and concentrated on the desired range which was more than 1000km range in diameter. All of the information about it's events from it's past, present and even future going up to a whole day entered Clodwal's mind in a burst which gave him an intense headache.

Clodwal: "A-Agh! I-I can see it..! Whaโ€”..."

...to the point it made him collapse and fall on the ground within 2 seconds of activation, making him lose his consciousness.

By the time he woke up, it was already early in the morning. He seems to have slept for a whole day and beside him was Bahamut eating a wild rabbit with white fur and blank red eyes to show it's dead, it was being pierced by Bahamut's claws directly in the neck. Clodwal watched Bahamut as it devoured it's prey piece by piece without a sense of abhorrence. As it was a waste of time to laze around, he slowly got up while holding his head as it was still processing the information the brain received. He was currently befuddled.

Clodwal: "Was I asleep for a whole day..? I recall talking to father around 10am and the Sun's position right now depicts it's currently 12pm... I need to meet with Orcan and the others. They might be looking for me right now--"

The scenery of a large explosion, gunfire, homes engulfed in flames and people dying one by one entered Clodwal's memories, it seemed to have occurred at night in a familiar place. There he saw a man's figure, that man then slowly turned around. He saw a familiar face, it was faint but he caught a glimpse of a rotzbremse mustache, but the scenery was then cut off when the man pointed his gun at Clodwal's line of sight and pulled his trigger resulting in gunfire that ended the projection.

Clodwal: "[๐˜‹๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ž๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ๐˜ด]..!"

Wings dyed in pure white feathers sprouted behind Clodwal's back that he was planning to use for a speedy flight, but before doing so picked up Bahamut as it couldn't fly yet due to it's small and immature wings. He used them to fly upwards in the skies as he liked viewing the direction of flight rather than going straight. He expected to see the village and inn he was currently staying in with Orcan's team, but what he saw was...

Clodwal: "...what happened?"

The place he was staying in had a large crater in the center, and smoke even when it was slowly dissipating was clearly there. Holes caused by bullets were evidently shown on the dead bodies, they could be seen from afar with his extraordinary sight.

Recovering from shock, Clodwal flew back to the Jura Village without further delay to check on the people while Bahamut clung to his neck. Dead bodies were everywhere and some died in even gruesome ways, heads and limbs scattered on the ground and the smell of blood reeks and spread in the whole area. He tried to find anyone who survived but to no avail; he found none. As he walked he passed through a body lying upside down that looked like the merchant's, Helhach Holsen's. He approached it slowly hoping it's not who he thinks it is with a bleak expression.

He rolled the body over and what he saw triggered something inside of him that made him grit his teeth in both frustration and a strong feeling of aversion, something he can never explain, his chest was in pain and something liquid was flowing from his eyelids to his cheek. He stood up revealing Holsen's violated face, his eyeballs were missing and there were holes all over his face where grubs and worms had already marked as their nest. Bahamut jumped off Clodwal's shoulders and started eating some of the grubs.

Clodwal: "Bahamut, don't eat that..."

The small dragon was briskly grabbed by the neck by it's owner and placed back on Clodwal's head. Clodwal walked to find more survivors knowing there were none, searching for his teammates and hoping they escaped the massacre. He soon turned his gaze to a pile of corpses stacked together like they were treated as garbage. And from there he saw next to it lying on the ground was...

Orcan's corpse was covering a child, he might have tried to save the young boy. His body was covered in bullet holes and the boy he was to protect was shot cleanly in the head too, his sacrifice was in vain. And in the pile were other people he knew, Asta's corpse was one of the bodies laid on it's top, his neck was cut by a blade cleanly. Arsol's body was clearly burnt by an explosive, and his was on the bottom. Filana's corpse was sitting against the pile with her head looking downwards, she had a large hole on her stomach which Clodwal didn't look at for long and would regret it if he used his unique eyes right now as it somehow gave him the creeps just imagining so much details running into his head.

Clodwal: "I've had enough of forcefully hiding this feeling... I want to scream from grief but it feels like something is stopping me everytime... I guess this is the power of my role. I need to stay calm, think logically, know many things, after all... I'm Clodwal Okamura..."

At that moment, Clodwal felt something warm was enveloping his body. Someone or something who looked exactly like Clodwal was standing beside him except it was only colored black and white, the mysterious figure stared at him and a cynical expression showed on his face, then slowly as if made of dust, faded away from it's right hand to the head until it's remains was blown away by the winds and disappeared. The mysterious phenomenon that forces them to play their role forcefully made him think clearly and expunged his current feeling that would cause him to lose calmness without his consent. He was now playing his role seriously. Because that's how it must be.

Clodwal: "I see no value in your deaths... It was all pointless and useless... Therefore I would like you all to live... I see value in your very lives as it can affect mine... Our threads of fate intertwine and all decisions lead to your futures, I need all of you for my future for that purpose... I need your support, Orcan. I don't know of many things yet in this world..."

He then spread his wings and flapped with great force, creating thrust and sending his figure aflutter. High above the Jura Village, he inquired.

Clodwal: "I now humbly ask of everyone... To live..."

At Clodwal's words, time listened to his desires and done as his mind commands. The destroyed buildings in the whole village suddenly started repairing themselves back to their prime state and all that were gone came back to existence just to abide by the laws of time. Shortly after, even the people's corpses started to repair themselves as well and as to not get decomposers such as grubs and flies inside their bodies after they finish healing, Clodwal removed them with [๐˜Œ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต ๐˜”๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฑ๐˜ถ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ] and made all of it float in midair to burn them to the point not even ashes are left. As an addition, he separated the bodies in the pile of dead bodies from each other as it seemed disrespectful to the dead in his eyes and what would be the point of reviving someone who will die anyways if they just get crushed by someone's weight.

Slowly, the people who were supposed to be deceased started to rise up from the dead one by one. Orcan was the first to regain consciousness.

Orcan: "U-Uhnn... My head hurts, what just happened, anyway?"

Asta: "What the-- my back hurts!"

Arsol: "Eh? My burns are all gone..."

Filana: "C-Cloddy!"

The second to wake up was Filana who in her first words after coming back from the dead shouted Clodwal's name after seeing him in the air. Orcan and many other people looked at where Filana was looking in response to her words.

Orcan: "Uhh, Filana. Are ye alright? I think yer just seeing things."

Clodwal's figure disappeared once again.

Filana: "But I really did see Cloddy flying... He was like an angel."

Orcan: "Ye sure fancy Cloddy so much don't ye? Hahah!"

Holsen: "H-How are we still alive? Didn't we die, sir Orcan?"

Orcan: "I dunno either. How did we come back to life anyway?"

Filana: "I think Cloddy did this!"

Orcan scratched his head.

Orcan: "What are you talking about?"

Asta: "Really? How do you say so, Filana?"

Filana: "I saw him flying earlier! But he disappeared when everyone else looked at him!"

Arsol: "So it was just you? You sure you didn't hit your head or something?"

Filana gave up trying to convince Orcan and the others as he didn't seem like he'll ever believe her words anyway.

The people's daily lives continued like the usual that day like the attack never happened, but some people still was restless. And Clodwal didn't have to worry about the same thing happening again for a while as he only reversed time on the whole village and not the entire universe. The attackers must be thinking they already eradicated the village, he thought.

In the afternoon when everything was perfectly fine already, Clodwal sat on his bed in his room having a staring contest with Bahamut when Filana abruptly disturbed them with her sudden entrance, making Bahamut blink and lose which gave Clodwal a slight smile.

Filana: "Cloddy, let's go already. We're about to buy your equipment yesterday remember? You forgot and suddenly disappeared that day so let's do it now."

Filana had fully given up on thinking Clodwal had rectified the situation the other day. How can someone revive the dead and repair the buildings at once? And why was she the only one who saw Clodwal? It may have just been her feelings and confusion orchestrating to make the result.

Clodwal: "Understood..."

He replied with haste.

Clodwal didn't see it needed at first as armor seemed useless to him because of his infinite amount of durability. But it would be better to have clothes that don't get ripped off so easily just by Bahamut embracing him, so he decided to listen to their advice.
