Chapter 10 - Trashing the attackers

Seeing the M16 rifles, Lieutenant Cory Keith's eye lit up, he even showed a bit of surprise. Even if it was for a fleeting moment. He didn't ask where the guns came from, but directly gave the order.

"Nick send two rifles each to Kyle and Buttowski. Give two rifles to my squad. And I have special work for your squad."

Hearing Cory, Nick sent Evan and Rick with two rifles each, They will give rifles to Kyle and Buttowski's squad respectively. While Nick himself passed two rifles to Cory.

Handing the rifles to his squadmate Cory turned back to Nick and said," I have observed the enemies, they have divided themself in two and covered east and west, that is our front and back respectively. While the enemy on our front is numerous, and with many rifles and smgs, those on the back are less than 10 and at least not fielded any rifle. I want your squad to take them out as quickly as possible, so we can match our opponents. And as per my understanding, they don't know our exact numbers exactly, otherwise, they would never divide their team."

" Also lookout for the enemy, even if they don't have rifles, they do have some small arms. And your team will be in the open"

" And don't worry about sir, I will look after him".

Receiving his order, Nick went back to his squad waiting for Evan and Rick to return.

" Sir come with me", said Cory while he led me

to one of the apartments on the first floor facing the front.

" Sir you are the general?", suddenly Cory asked.

Seeing my clueless expression, he continued " Sir maybe you don't know but we all were trained together in an army camp, but we don't know where we come from who we were. All of us have been given names by our seniors and the last name is chosen by ourself. We only know that the army is headed by the general, who has the ability to teleport us, whenever he needs us. From the day we started training in the camp, meaning the day from we remember ourselves, we were taught that about how much general has sacrificed for us, and we have to work with our full might whenever we called by him to help."

Hearing the summoned soldiers backstory stunned me. It was like someone kidnapped me. Deleted all my memory, and then turned me into a fanatical worshipper of some imaginary great man, while training me to become a merciless killer.

Thinking about all the summoning novels on earth. I was at least sure the summons were loyal to me, and will not harm me. Until I really do something outrageous. At least that was what I hoped for.

Seeing Cory's 'answer me' face, I could only say the truth, " Well I could summon you, but I am really not that general".

Hearing me confess, Cory's face remained the same, but his eyes were a different matter. I could see that he was relieved, but also worried.

But even I knew that he was worried, I was not able to even make an assurance that everything will be okay after all even now it was him who was protecting me.

Dog didn't know what to do. dog wasn't his real name, but in the last two and a half years he was called by this name, so now it had become his name.

He was Peters favourite lackey. He was even given the only rifle in the team. but the problem was he was a coward.

Just now Peter was cursing Adam to be useless other than being able to curry favour with the boss. And then suddenly he stopped walking forward. Took his pistol out, aimed a little saying something about displaying his worth and took a shot, and then fired wildly twice.

tak.

tak. tak.

Before we could even look at what he was firing at, his chest suddenly went pish...

tak.

Came the voice of gunshot and then came more gunshots.

Before we knew it 3 more members of our team were laying down in there own blood's pool. While Rig had a bullet shot at his hand

We could even hear sound across the street, of teams, led by Francis, as shouts came from there team also.

Then came the sound of rifle firing.

I believed It was going to be gruesome gun battles, but instead, our enemies retreated into the building.

First, we all ran for cover but one shot back, so we took a great of courage, before we dragged the dead bodies of Peter and others to the side road, tended to rig, Where the complex was, as to fire just below they would have to bend a part of there body out of the building.

We were so shaken in fear, with our leader dead that we couldn't even think of what to do next.

Five minutes went while we were just looking at each other's faces when suddenly 3 men, without any shoes came out of the complex while a fourth one just had his head and gun out and started firing at us.

We would have definitely fought them, even killed one or two, but what froze was that all four of them were carrying guns, not pistol but rifles. Before we could even respond they pointed their guns at us and fired.

When Evan used the piece of mirror to look outside the situation on the road. He easily spotted the remaining enemies.

After counting their numbers, he gestured his squad leader saying that there were 4 people along the wall.

Nick made a plan on the spot, and gestured toward Evan to fight by leaning on the wall, while he gestured Evan and Stephen, to follow him with a sprint and then give no time to the enemy, just kill them.

Seeing everyone understood the plan, Nick gestured 'go' and ran out followed by Stephen and Rick's, while Evan leaned on the wall while taking aim.

Before their enemy could respond they opened fire.

All four of the enemies were killed, but the problem was that there were 2 more of them, one injured one and another one treating him.

Because they were behind the four men, Evans couldn't see them.

Till now both of them had come out of their daze, but as luck would have it. Theirs was even shittier than Phil's. One of them had lost his weapon when he was injured, while the other has kept his gun down on the road to dress his friends injury.

Here once again Nicked showed the difference between soldiers and veterans. He spontaneously aimed at them and fired. Till he knew for sure that they were dead.

He didn't even think that the enemy was unarmed, because he had in many situations where this kind of hesitation caused him to lose more than one friend of his.

Hence his motto was, first neutralise your said enemy and then ask where you were enemy or not, and he abided with this rule.
