Pain!
More pain!
That was the only thing Alex felt. There was an abnormal throbbing in his head and he felt like his body was thrown inside a meat grinder.
Ugh... Alex attempted to sit-up and look around, but he was unable to do so. He couldn't even feel his fingers and toes.
From the looks of it, I'm dreaming. But what kind of dream is this? I can't even see or hear anything, just this damn pain . I feel like am being torn apart.
Alex tried to focus his thoughts so as to leave this weird dream, but no matter what he tried he couldn't seem to wake up. And the excruciating pain did not help in his attempts to focus.
Am never going drinking with those bastards again...
Alex promised himself for the umpteenth time. After what seemed like hours, he could finally somewhat feel his fingers, then gradually his toes and then little by little the rest of his body until he opened his eyes.
Huh... Where am I?
After Alex finally managed to open his eyes, the first thing he noticed was that he wasn't in his room. He was in an empty room that was looking disturbingly similar to a Classroom to him. There were desks, tables and a small podium at the far end of the room.
This...Could I still be at the club?...No, that's not right. There's no way this is a club.
Alex hurriedly contradicted the thought which he himself felt was stupid. He might not be smart, but he was definitely not stupid.
Or did this bunch of motherfuckers dump him in a classroom despite their earlier promise to carry him home if he fainted...
Oh well, I'll get them back for that. I need to hurry back home, Manager Ann might fire me for real if I skip work...again.
All of a sudden, strange memories flooded into his brain just as he stood up causing him to plop on the floor. He felt as if his brain was melting and he gritted his teeth to bear with the overwhelming pain.
Alex was dumbfounded when he finished assimilating the new memories that he even forgot the pain. You couldn't blame him as the information contained in the new memories was nothing short of shocking.
MOTHERFUCKER!... I transmigrated!
I really transmigrated, haha!
And not only had he transmigrated, he transmigrated into a world that was quite different from what he was used to.
The technology was way more advanced and interstellar travel was no longer a dream. Though the only space colonies were built on the moon and on Planet Mars, Also only the rich and well connected could afford the travel expenses.
But what shocked Alex the most was the existence of cultivation and people with special abilities. People with the capability to shatter Mountains and divide seas.
He could feel his middle school syndrome acting up.
[Ding. The system has been activated successfully. Beginners package for host has been released.] A mechanical voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
Hmm... system? beginners package?
Alex was briefly shocked and confused before feeling extreme delight and excitement. After all in the few webnovels he had read the Main character always had a trusty system that gave him the power to kick ass.
Alex fantasied, he could almost see the golden main character halo above his head.
Wait, what's the name of the system?
[Ding. The systems name is...]
Whatever, forget the name. Open the beginners package.
Alex interrupted immediately he figured out that the system could read his thoughts.
[...]
The system felt like cursing after meeting the shameless Alex that wouldn't even let him introduce himself. But on second thoughts, he restrained himself... he was better than this idiot.
[Ding. The host has received 1x Basic body strengthening pill.]
[Ding. The host has received 1x Basic Mana gathering pill.]
[Ding. The host has received 1x small blank card.]
[Ding. The host has received 1x (Advanced) skill upgrade card.]
[Ding. The host has received Resurrection coin.]
Alex couldn't stop the sheepish smile on his face. If a little girl was close by and saw the smile on his face, she would probably run away screaming 'Perv uncle' in her mind.
What a lovely system!
Suddenly the system started looking more handsome to Alex. He did not know exactly what the items were used for, but he was sure he could guess from their names. After all...he wasn't stupid.
Checking the description of the gifts, he was stunned. What the fuck is this?
Beginner body strengthening pill: Once taken, Pill will actively strengthen hosts bones and muscles.
[Note- It stings a little and it doesn't make you superman so don't try punching any mountains.]
Beginner mana gathering pill: Upon usage, pill will automatically start gathering Mana around the users body.
[Note- You are basically taking all the Mana in the surrounding so make sure not to use in a place with much people, or you might get cursed to death.]
Small blank card: A special card that can be used in special situations
[Note- I won't bother explaining, you wouldn't understand.]
(Advanced) skill upgrade card: Upgrade one skill to perfect.
[Note. I'm worried that left on your own, two lifetimes will not be enough for you to upgrade one skill to perfect.]
Resurrection coin: Automatically activated upon death. Host will be resurrected with perfect health and will gain an invincibility buff for a short while.
[Note- I would not recommend you to try and see.]
For a full minute after reading this, Alex was silent. He wasn't sure whether to curse at the system for all those bad-mouth{1} notes or to thank it for the gifts.
He was feeling very conflicted.
'Whatever, I'll let it slide this time' He determined after thinking it through. He wouldn't want to take back those sweet gifts.
Alex felt he was going crazy after reading the information on those gift bundles.
The body strengthening and Mana gathering alone we're something amazing because it set him on the path to be both a Magic user and a physical ability master.
All though he couldn't understand what exactly the small blank card was for, he knew it was definitely something special.
To Alex, the skill upgrade card was only slightly lower in value compared to the Resurrection coin.
In this world, skills were divided into four levels: Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and perfect.
It was fairly easy to reach the beginner level. All you needed was to learn the tutorials and a little bit of hard work.
To reach the Intermediate level, the difficulty triples.
To reach the Advanced level tremendous talent and hardwork is required.
As for the perfect level, Only the Grandmasters could reach it after perhaps decades of training.
The Resurrection coin was now Alex's most valued possession. After all it was a second life not to talk about the invincibility buff.
He almost could not resist the temptation to stab a sword in himself to test the Resurrection coin.
Calm down...keep calm...
Alex calmed himself down. He needed to find out more about the system itself.
"Hey... system? Are you there?"
[Ding. System is always here]
"Oh ok, that's not creepy at all. By the way what should I call you? You never introduced yourself"
[...]
Calm down...calm down
It was now the systems turn to tell itself to calm down. It wondered if Alex was infuriating it on purpose. Still it proceeded to answer in a dignified tone...
[Ding. System is a thrill seeker system. Host may decide whether to choose a name for the system or not.]
"Wait, Isn't thrill seeker your name? Why would you say you have no name" Alex asked confused.
'And you denied being stupid' The system rolled it's imaginary eyes, not that it had eyes to begin with.
[Ding. There are millions of thrill-seeker systems scattered all over the multiverse and I am but one among them. So host may choose a name for the system, or host may continue referring to the system as 'System'. It makes no difference.]
It could be an illusion or something but Alex thought that the system's voice sounded a little bit... different.
"So what exactly is a thrill seeker system?"
[Ding. The thrill seeker is a system designed to build host into a character that is not bound by any rules and exist just to seek fun and excitement.]
The system spoke with a hint of pride and excitement as it was waiting for Alex's joyous scream when he realizes that the thrill seeker system is created to save him the trouble of working.
Poor system, it was bound to be disappointed again.
" So basically, the system is created to build me into a lazy guy that gets all his work done by the system??
Are you kidding me?
I, Alex. I am a good, upright and hard-working individual, a person that loves to work. I am a decent human being that works overtime even in my work place on Earth. I won employee award of the year three times in a row.
And you want me to lazy and just seek fun and excitement?? What kind of person do you think I am."
The system was lost for words. Alex had just opened it's eyes to a new level of shamelessness.
If you were half as hard working as you said, I wouldn't have chosen you, you idiot!...
The system wanted to shout out.
It knew exactly what type of person Alex was .
Alex was someone that went to work only two or three times a week just to sleep on duty. The only reason he still had a job prior to transmigration was because Manager Ann, his boss was also his cousin.
"Well on second thoughts, I think I can agree to you offer."
Alex's voice changed immediately he saw the exchange system.
