(Ken's POV)
Though relieved and thankful I am freed,
Half of me still just couldn't believe,
Nemue did told me that the sides were guarded,
But no devil came, was it all just made up?
The wind continued to blow harshly,
As I closed my eye unconciously,
The reaper beside me suddenly spoke,
That made me open and quickly look.
"You look bothered? Do you have questions?
Don't deny such, it's obvious from your reactions.
You may call me Humility, I was a friend of your ancestor,
Although generations may have piled up,
You don't have any of his resemblance at all,"
I pursed my lips and wondered just which question I should ask first,
But decided to start on what bothered me the most.
"How did you knew I was here? Why was the witch's backyard poorly guarded?"
"Let's just say your patience and choices, have your suffering be finally rewarded,
Reapers are gifted too, so we can fight and track familiar auras,
Although most of the action, will be showcased in the arena,"
I nodded only, afraid to take much of his time,
To which perhaps he realized, as he gave me a gentle smile.
His gaze seemed happy, but gloomy just the same,
If ever that would make sense, but such smile didn't long remain.
Soon, I found myself following his every step,
His feet was quick, and his rapid movements cost my breath,
I felt myself panting, but I refuse to complain,
I continued to follow, when it then started to rain.
The pitter-patters, and the water blurring my vision slowed me down,
I felt my feet almost slip, luckily I didn't hit the ground,
Humility stopped, and was swift to turn around,
Making sure that I, was still safe and sound.
After that, he wasted no time and continued with his steps,
As I shivered, now soaked in rain.
He may have noticed the sounds I made,
Because after a few minutes, he gave me his cape.
Whenever threat is near, he was quick to finish the bussiness,
Whatever way they'd try to ask for mercy, he couldn't care any less.
And from those brief moments, I felt my heart pound hard,
Knowing that reapers and angels are far apart.
I noticed that reapers were much quicker than any angel's movement,
More rough, more impulsive, much willing to commit violence.
They were the angels of death after all,
It wouldn't make sense if they're gentler and gullible.
On the way Humility managed to spill a few facts about their purpose,
That archangels don't usually come to earth,
Unless the whole Humanity is in danger.
Most of the time, reapers are in charge of keeping the demons away,
Protecting our souls, every single day.
Such obligation made me feel a bit guilty,
Such entities sure have their whole lives busy.
I would have asked more if not for the clear worry plastered on the reaper's face,
So I shut my mouth, as I followed his way.
His eyes though youthful from afar,
Held wisdom that's as old as time,
His expression was stiff, and behind it was clear sadness,
And even if I know the cost, how much change would I then help him?
The wind blew, as if telling us that there's no way out,
But Humility scanned the place, as a few reapers then walked around.
They made sure I was guarded, from all possible corners,
But soon halted, when they saw some demons over.
The demons looked tired from watching perhaps,
As the six of them were all laid down in a nap,
Humility swiftly disappeared and I was too shocked to react,
When he mercilessly killed them one by one, with a quick crunchy snap.
I felt myself shiver, thinking just how dangerous and eager they were to kill,
I felt my skin tingle, as I continued to feel stiff.
One reaper behind me, told me Humility was true to his name,
But since he lost too many all at once,
it ignited his flames.
Humility was gentle, and patient most of the time,
But since Satan's return, many of his beloved comrades died,
I listened eagerly, until I felt his steps coming back,
All reapers then turned quiet, as Humility returned from sight.
"Take a good look at those demons and copy their appearance,
Take Ken by then, to a safer distance,
Uriel needs my help, so I entrust you with this matter,
Ken should escape, or sealing the two worlds will be no longer,"
The reapers agreed, and obeyed his command,
As he disappeared, and left small dust particles, as small as sand,
The scent of lavender entered my nose,
The moment the head reaper was no longer close.
The reapers apologized, and at first I did not understand,
Until one spoke, saying it's Uriel's command.
"It's hard to hide a human as big as you,
So would it be okay if we turn you into a bird?"
One politely asked, to which I quickly agree to,
When it comes to escaping, no such condition is absurd.
They transformed quickly and then gathered the demon's remains,
While all of them put their hands around it, quickly burning it in flames.
I was amazed yet again, mesmerized by such abilities,
Until it's my time, to be a creature of feathers and wings.
...
(Mar's POV)
Something felt awfully wrong,
As I heard screams hollering loud and long,
Elenchos did not tell me anything as he left,
And I couldn't help but feel terrified myself.
I looked at the window, but the pane was soaked with rain,
I couldn't see anything, as all were of black taint.
I hope that my friends survived, and whoever was screaming could be saved,
As no matter how strong you are, if you hear those screams, you'd fail to be brave.
I looked and walked around the room,
Wondering what better to do,
Until I heard a tap on my window,
As I saw orbs floating, emitting a clear white glow.
I felt enchanted, though I wonder what it was for,
Until I saw a man's face, eyes black as ever,
I almost jumped out, feeling great terror,
Until he opened the window, explained he wasn't an enemy but a rescuer.
In his pocket was a small bird that quickly flew to my shoulder,
Rubbing on my clothes, as it lightly shiver,
It was missing an eye, and the first time I remembered-
Was Ken, to whom I hope I was together.
The man before us snapped his fingers,
And the bird then flew down, as it lost its feathers,
The room glowed, and if only I've known sooner,
It was Ken himself, who quickly embraced me tighter than ever.
I felt deeply relieved, having been comforted,
And felt my heart flutter, as I waited for this moment.
I couldn't believe it, if it was a dream I dare not wake again,
As the reality the word holds, is only full of pain.
The men then quickly informed me to follow,
As I held on Ken's words, that there'd be a great tomorrow,
I would have walked out, without feeling any guilt,
Until I stepped on a book, Elenchos had me keep.
I was quick to picked it up,
Felt my eyes tearing, as my steps stopped.
Elenchos, wanted to be redeemed,
Is it better? If without him? I leave?
...
(Ken's POV)
Mar looked torned for whatever reason,
As she held the book tightly, while it continued to storm,
She told me something, in a hush whisper,
"I have a friend, and he's not a sinner,"
I knew she wanted to save whoever it was,
But time is running out, and we needed to act fast,
In the end, we were able to convince her to come with us,
Until we heard a knock.
We quickly hurried out, as only the sound of a shock guy could be heard,
Mar looked sad, as the book she keeps covered.
I right then, couldn't help but wonder,
Who was she so worried of?
Could I save him as well, if we turn over?
...
Elenchos saw the wet floor and the clear dirty footsteps,
Mar was nowhere to be seen, and he was sure she left.
Seeing however, that the book she was reading was gone,
He knew she thought of him, although he's still upset of what she's done.
Unbeknownts to him, Mammon had trailed behind,
And when he opened the door and saw how messy it was on the inside,
He knew Elenchos had been fooled,
And fooling his son has its price.
Elenchos hurried to convince his father to let Mar unharmed,
But Mammon did not consider his son's demands.
Angry, and feeling betrayed, he commanded his legions to search outside,
"Look for the woman, retrieve her, dead or alive,"
Elenchos kept pulling his father, begging him to let it slide,
But Mammon did not want his son to be always left behind.
He knew how much Elenchos wanted a friend,
And seeing Martha leave, may have had his feelings bend.
Moreso, Mammon wanted to show his usefulness to Lucifer as well,
And if he handle this situation himself,
Lucifer would feel proud, would feel little worry,
As he continue to enjoy himself, while Mammon proves his authority.
Elenchos regretted ever having his father with him that time,
What if because of him? His friend then die?
Determined to save her, he decided to form a plan,
Although it would be him, opposing his own beloved father's commands.
