Ken was about to look closer,
When Jacob then chose to come over,
"That thing looks so squishy, should I step on it?"
"Jacob, I don't know, but it'd make a mess,"
"Should I just pick it up and throw it away then?"
"Uh, it may bite you as defense,"
"Pff, a little bite won't kill me, plus, it's just a worm,"
"It can carry parasites, and worm eggs yet to be born,"
Jacob backs away, completely disgusted,
As Ken's eyes, slowly to the dark adjusted,
That's when he realized it has a red color on its head,
"Ken, I think that creature could get in our ears, maybe it's better if it's dead,"
"Ah, well...do what you want with it, just make sure it won't bite,"
"All right Mister Hero, have fun and good night,"
Jacob was about to pick it up, when the door suddenly opened,
Raphael was standing, and was frightened by the scene, "Were you bitten?!"
"Ah, no? What's the matter? Is...wait, this..."
"Anything unusual must not be simply picked!"
"But it's a worm, what harm can it do?"
Raphael stepped on it, "Who knows if this can zombify too?"
"I think you guys are being paranoid,"
"Paranoid?! Do you know what we have to do to keep you safe??" Raphael said, his tone quickly changed.
"Look, I get it. But it's your job, isn't it?"
"So you can endanger yourselves all you want? Is that it?"
"No, I mean...it was just...a worm, a little crawling creature,"
"Look kid, we want to protect you, so you can have a brimming future,
We are tiring ourselves all day and night so no one would hurt all of you,
The least you could do is obey, is that so hard to do?"
The people surrounding them watched in awe,
How Raphael lost his temper, as he lecture Jacob so,
Ken knew that Raphael was just frustrated, and very tired,
Others understood, but some were differently wired.
Jacob realized his mistake and quickly apologized,
"I'm sorry, the words I spoke before, I get it...it's sort of unwise,"
Raphael smiles, and sighs, "I just want you all to be safe,
So I hope, you continue to avoid mistakes,"
"I get it, sorry,"
"Now, behave yourselves, I'll now give you some privacy,
Sleep tight,
Good night,
If something bad happens,
Call us, alright?"
...
Raphael exits, as the other angels asked what they missed,
"They saw a worm, it might be deadly, so I killed it anyways,"
"Good...but the storm Azazel gave, it could take more days,"
Uriel informed, scratching the side of his neck,
"The storm just won't cease, and the angels are having a hard time keeping up the barrier,
Their arms are already sore, and they can't do it forever,"
"Uriel, I know you're worried but...let's just be patient for now,
Every storm would die out, if we just wait somehow,"
Barachiel assured, as the archangels continued to guard,
However, Azazel was simply not done.
He asked Mahazael to dig holes on the ground,
Releasing the worms, without making a sound.
The obedient demon followed, although it could be fatal,
Once the angels notice, they would need a quick renewal.
More so, he had also recruited more demons for his doing,
Making the angels feel restless, through the night till morning.
Azael kept the rain going, distracting the angels further,
As the wind kept howling, whispering, taunting the angels to step over.
The cold stabbed the angel's back, in a form of a breeze,
"Gah! I need a break!" Christopher, a low ranking angel, said as he freeze,
He shivered and released his hands, as an angel just behind him replaced the angel by demand,
He went to the shelter himself, but he cannot understand,
Why there seem to be a dozen critters, scattered to the soil and sand.
He quickly panicked, and ran to Raphael to spill what he've seen,
Raphael quickly informed Michael, as they try to collect them by all means.
The angels felt haggard as they search every corner of the soil,
The barrier became weaker, as their exhaustion reached their cores,
But with the many lives they must protect, crafted in their mind,
They try, and pray not to falter, as the critters they continue to find.
...
Mahazael then noticed that the worms were different,
"These doesn't look like the zombie worms, have you forgotten?"
"Mahazael, these are merely distractions,
I have an ally inside, to follow my instructions,"
"How were you able to do it? The angels barely let us near them,"
"My friend is a witch, so I've put a needle on one of the pillows this morning,
Thanks to your contructed houses, choosing a victim was a breeze,
I've got the plan set, thanks to your efforts," "I'm pleased,"
...
Jacob felt something moving, as if someone had been staring at him,
He opened his eyes, and was surprised to see a face,
Staring at him, while holding a worm for him to taste.
"Gah! Cut it, weirdo!" He yelled as he push the little boy,
The worm quickly wriggle away, as the kid dropped to the floor.
The mother quickly hit Jacob, defending he was just a child,
"But that kid was holding a worm! Missy, he's staring at me too! All night!"
Ken quickly woke up, and saw the kid seemingly lost in trance,
He quickly stood up, "This is trouble in advance,"
All eyes looked at him, others admiring, others in envy,
"Jacob won't simply make it up, would he?
Don't you remember what creatures are our enemies?
Everyone can be the villain or the host, even a little boy,
I'm going to call the angels, they know what to be implored,"
The mother quickly tackled Ken on the ground,
As countless gasps were heard from the crowd,
"And what? They'd kill my precious baby?
Just because he acts a little different, is that it?
You know what? You, and those creatures, if they keep killing even children, then you're no different,
You haven't have a child yet, so those words of you are easy to be spoken,
But if you have, you'd want to kill for them, won't you, Ken?"
"Saving a child? Than saving the many, you surely have been mistaken,"
The mother kept punching him, until Ken fought back,
Sending the mother down, as she hit her back,
"Selfish, you have no emphaty! And you dare say you'd save humanity?"
The mother said, as she hold her child lovingly.
The kid, now in Azazel's command,
Quickly held the worm on his hand,
Letting it crawl on his own mother,
As it wriggle away, now about to eat its supper.
Jacob soon noticed the worm attached on her,
So he tried to brush it away, but he was quickly yelled at by the mother,
"Don't touch me! You'd just get my son killed!"
"No, there's something on your back, just hold still,"
She insisted to listen, as she tried to drag the kid on the corner,
"From now on, I don't believe in any side any longer,
I just wanted to live, to save my kid,
But what's preventing me, are people like you! You little sh*ts!"
"Oi, oi, we're on the home of angels," a man said quite surprised,
"Whatever! Those creatures were not even as nice!"
Ken felt like exploding, as he told everyone shut,
"They are busy, they did their best, they gave their best shots!"
"Easy for you to say you're one of the priviliged!"
"Priviliged? Have you heard what you've just spoken?
Have I not lost my family? Have I not been broken?
How dare you assure I haven't been depressed, for every day I've woken?"
Tears began to fall from Ken's eyes,
As he began to remember, all the days he nearly died,
He quickly wiped them off, as Stacy stared in pity,
But she was too weak, to help him in his melancholy,
They were all tired, frustrated, scared and paranoid,
Their hearts all shattered, a part lost in a void.
"We've all been scarred, so don't think it's just you whose affected,
We all lost something, and things don't always go the way we want it,
So please...let me pass by the door so I can inform them,
If you don't want us, to go through the same again,"
The woman refused, and mocked him even,
"Sweet words don't mean much, my heart would not be shaken,"
"Ken, let's just push her, she's weak, and frail anyways,"
"Uh, Jacob, that's not how it's supposed to play"
More people tried to talk to the woman,
Telling her all sorts of explanations,
Ken was happy they're doing what they can,
Although the woman showed no remorse or hesitation.
"I told you, I'm not moving,
My son is fine, so you should all head back to sleeping,"
"You just can't be selfish! That's too unfair!"
A woman in the crowd said, as she fiercely stare.
Ken sighed, and tried to approach the woman yet again,
When suddenly, she yelled from a sharp piercing pain,
"Something just bit me!" She yelled in despair,
And when she vomited blood, just then the crowd were aware.
She couldn't stop yelling, that the angels quickly ran upstairs,
"What happened?" Raphael said in dismay,
His eyes widened, when he saw the woman spitting blood,
"Everyone go through the door! And run!"
The crowd panicked, and tried to ran pass each other,
As the weak fall down, while the infected then began to grumble,
Barely holding her newfound hunger.
