Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: GOD'S GRACE

I don't know how it started,

Or why he even deserved it,

But the little boy whom we have with us,

Suddenly started to vomit and get sick.

He had his eyes shut,

Shivering in discomfort,

And only a few slices of apple,

Serves as his medicine we can afford.

I even forgot his name,

as he talks so little,

But I swore I feel his pain,

How he cries, as he continuea to suffer.

Isabelle, whom we learned was a medical student,

Told us that his stomach must have been infected,

Either ways he was burning hot,

I wish I knew, so it could have been prevented.

We all took turns watching him,

As the angel goes in and out in search for food,

I barely could stay awake, but I'm trying,

Just for the little boy, to stop crying.

I could only hear him whimper,

As the monsters outside beg in hunger,

We were all very concerned,

He was the only kid of the group,

So young, this pain not deserved.

He prayed whenever he could,

I knew, even though I could barely hear him,

Mar would always comfort him,

But Isabelle whispered that his chance for survival was slim.

So this was the pain others felt,

When a child is slowly dying before you,

Knowing you cannot stop their cry for help,

I felt broken, melting, thinking a way to stop his woe.

I am not usually that soft back then,

But seeing him cry, made me feel so broken.

How hard have my parents felt when I left?

Did they not care, or did their heart melt?

I never left his side,

Hoping he would't...won't die.

...

Eleazar sung softly, comforting the child,

His skin was grazed, and he looked so dirty,

So we cleaned him with a few supplies.

"You look like an angel," Eleazar said,

And eyes still shut, the child smile,

And then Eleazar's gaze turned suddenly sad,

"Hey, was something bad?"

He looked at me, then he gave an expression of happiness,

"Fear not, God has given this child a wonderful present,"

And we stood there, pondering in silence,

And after realizing, we sat there frozen.

The kid stopped crying,

But so as his heart from beating,

Eleazar closed his eyes as if he was praying,

Then came a creature in red, we sat up watching.

She resembled a human, but smells like smoke,

She carried a scythe, and she handled it whole,

And after a strike, there comes a glow,

"His soul is pure, it belongs in heaven," she said as she showed.

So God's grace wasn't extending the boy's life,

It was saving him from life,

A world in which would only give him pain,

We all agreed, there was nothing to complain.

Secretly, I wished I would have ended that way,

Stacy glanced at well, and I knew she thought the same,

The kid should have truly go,

Before things get worse.

God gave him the most wonderful present,

As he was a step closer,

To a new world-new heaven.
