Chapter 4 - A Moment of His Life

"Listening to both of you feels like a waste of time. I shouldn't explain what I meant, am I clear?" he sternly remarked as the situation had no destination from the beginning.

Two hours feels nothing to immortals, mentioning gods who lived for thousands of years. With their intelligence, the siblings understood their father's words.

They nod their heads. As it shortly came to an end, the Celestial Goddess entered the scene. She has a terrifying look on her face similar to an angered mother prepared to punish her children with her weapons— a stick, a sandal or anything within reach that is throwable.

Michael gulped while Irene closed her eyes, praying in her mind that this storm will quickly pass.

"Why're you both quiet? Where is your previous vigor?" she glares at her two children who diverts their gaze as drops of sweat trickle on their cheeks.

"Answer. Me."

"Irene met with her lover, I gave her a scolding, she didn't listen then we got into an argument. I deeply apologise, mother."

"Wha- mother, it was brother who didn't listen to me and it was solely him who caused our argument!" She felt a sharp glare, "I deeply apologise, mother."

"You both have grown up, we all see both of you as full-fledged gods fulfilling their duties. However your behaviours dealt a blow on my trust," she took a pause to examine her children's faces, "What should I do with both of you?"

Michael and Irene rejoiced that their mother isn't going to punish them, is what they thought. Pfft—ahem.

"What should I use to whip your feet? The all-time favorite, a stick or least favorite, a leather belt." Callista's eyes glowed.

"..."

That is worse-case scenario. As the Celestial Goddess reached Helios' side, she crossed her arms before saying: "Regarding the latest matter, not of Irene, how did the Council respond?"

Helios took the hint and replied thereafter, "No responses from anyone just yet but to be precise, no one has made any move."

"Understandable."

Callista then glanced at her children and sighed. She knows their fear towards her and she really wants to punish them but she thought, 'For the sake of wanting them to be independent, I won't be the consequence of their shenanigans.'

Five-clover luck we have here. Anyways a short silence overtaken and made things quite awkward. It took some thought for Helios to break the silence, "What currently is needed attention are the matters in hand."

"Since we all know the punishment of those 'not filial', you will be held in trial." he added.

In a moment she replied, "Understood, father."

— THE NEXT MORNING

(Helios POV)

My subjects would have asked me of why exactly I threw a fit over a simple yet complex matter, if one were to be bold to say that in front of my face to be exact.

Why in all odds would a disheveled messenger provoke the commander of the general whose severed head is placed in a container to be displayed for the eyes of all gathering entities?

Two possibilities. First, the messenger is charmed and a demon is controlling the threads. Second, a scheme complex as a spider's web.

If only my advisor would be someone trustworthy, I'd have reveal my thoughts and lower my guard in an instant. And to think even those three refused to say anything.

How troublesome. Irene is much of a hassle to deal with, but matters in hand, legends are deceptive. Ancestral Father Uranus ruled without politics nor agriculture-related subject.

Meanwhile, Supreme Father Chronos, was easily moved by the words contained in an unfortunate prophecy which haunts all direct-line descents. I groomed Michael with cautious care and love, I will consider him ungrateful if he ever dethrones me.

All these trivial things aside, it would be better if I could have a change of air however.. personal emotions must not affect my line of duty as the Supreme Lord of this Universe, the reigning Monarch— Heavenly Ruler.

"Oliver." he rests his quill by the side and reads his written letter for the several and last time.

A male elf knocks twice on the door before entering, "I've heed your call, My Lord." He wears a trimmed white chiton with a blue cotton cloth loosely wrapped from the shoulder to the knee similarly looking like a sash.

Oliver displays an elegant image but him carrying a tall stack of documents, Helios could only hold back his laughter to prevent offending his assistant.

"Ask our allied Lords for their attendance in a casual tour at the borderlands. I've waited long enough.. and schedule a meeting to discuss two topics."

"I will have someone to become my proxy," Oliver immediately responded.

Helios slightly nods his head before taking his quill and writing more copies of his letter. The elf notices the silence and asked, "Is there any other order for this servant to abide?"

"Nothing else," he took a short pause, "You are dismissed."

Oliver placed the stack of documents on a desk then went in the direction of the doorway to make his exit.

...six hours later

Helios took a deep breath after stretching arms. He looked at his hourglass and realized how quick time could be. Making copies of his letter took a small portion of six hours compared to signing the documents Oliver brought.

'Being in power is so boring and tiring. My subjects fear me and no one talks to me in a casual manner and all I spent my time on is signing these nonsensical complaints, agreements and documents that need my signature.'

'I would rather spend my time exploring the universe and have lots and lots of enjoyment.' Helios thought to himself.

The remaining documents were signed in about two hours. He then summoned his servants to bring his attire.

He wears a white himation as his clothing, leather sandals as his shoes and a few ornaments made of pure gold.

With the himation, a part of his chest is seen. If Callista were to see this she would've pounced on her husband like a predator to its prey. She's an aggressive woman.

He steps out of his abode to be greeted by Oliver who wore his own attire and a horse-drawn chariot. "Has everyone gathered?" he genuinely asked.

"Yes."

"Mind if I ask who you appointed as your representative?" Helios ceased his movement.

"A young elf affiliated to the Glyn clan."

He nods his head, "He must be someone to be worthy of trust. Looking forward to meet the young one." Then proceeds to ride his chariot towards a destination.
