Chapter 5 - Insecurities.

Luke has been avoiding Cole and Cole hated it.

It's been a week since that little incident already and Luke has been avoiding Cole ever since.

Cole doesn't think it's fair, hell, he even recalls swearing that he won't tell anybody (well, Noah was an exception) and yet, Luke avoided him like plague.

The younger boy had known the older for a whole month already but he didn't trust the elder, and for some reason, it frustrated Cole to no end.

He missed giggly giggly Luke and his sweet smiles and kind words and his little jokes and--- and just---

Cole swears he's not pouting.

He didn't mean to walk in on them, Cole wants Luke to know, he wouldn't even dare try to get Luke in any sort of trouble, Cole wants to convey, it might be wrong to be with someone of your own gender according to the law but Cole really doesn't mind, he wants to voice out but he can't because again,

Luke has been avoiding Cole.

Cole, of course, did seek Noah's help to get Luke to talk to him but the eldest just asked him to give the youngest some time and Cole just didn't want to lose one of his only friends.

So he took things into his own hands.

He rushed to Luke's dorm passing by the privileged's corridor as soon as he got the idea, moving towards the normals', legs moving fast, the urgency in them transparent.

He knocked twice before twisting the knob just to be sure he doesn't walk into the same scenario as last week or anything similar to that.

He entered, closing the door behind before he called out the younger's name, "Luke-ah!"

The younger's head immediately snapped up, big brown doe eyes looking into Cole's, fingers resting on the keys of his laptop before his eyebrows raised, questioning.

"I'm sorry for what I did, extremely so, I didn't mean to walk in, Luke. I won't tell anybody, I swear but please just talk to me again, you're the only friend I've ever had after Noah hyung."

Cole sounded desperate, he knew but he just didn't want to lose Luke, also, he wanted to know more about everything too.

"I'm not mad at you, Cole," Luke voice was soft as he pursed his lips, looking up at the elder.

"Then why won't you talk to me?" Cole stomped his feet like a little kid, lips forming into a pout as he whined.

"I just--- I was just embarrassed and--- and scared, okay?" Luke muttered under his breath, cheeks flushing an endearing baby pink as he looked down, Cole lightly chuckling at his embarrassment.

"I don't plan on telling anybody anything, Luke-ah, that I promise you, also, I'm not against what you did," Cole explained, sitting beside the other, laying a hand on the younger one's, comforting as he let out a small laugh, "Besides I don't think I'd against be against it as even I have fantasized it a couple of times."

"Okay, I'm lying, I'm lying, I've fantasized about it far more than just a couple of times," Cole accepted with a smile on his face, hands thrown up in defeat as he wanted Luke to feel safe while the doe eyes boy looked shocked, eyes wide with pink parted lips.

"W-Why are you telling me this?" Luke looked confused, lashes fluttering as he looked up at a now shy Cole who blushed just a tad at the sudden question.

Because I can't get the image of you looking so pretty out of my mind, Cole's mind muttered.

"Because I want to know why you'd do such a daring thing," He said instead, looking into Luke's eyes.

"It's just--- I'm not sure if you'd get it, hyung," Luke sighed, watching as Cole's expressions turned into one of a kicked puppy's. Luke sighed again, not being able to stand the look of sadness in sweet, sweet Cole's face,

"It's not just a hookup if you think so, hyung," Cole nodded, looking at Luke attentively, listening to every word that spilled out of his pink, pink lips, "It makes me feel--- makes me feel as if 'm actually valid?"

The answer sounded like a question, Cole could sense the hesitation, the tad bit of insecurity that lingered in the air, he could feel that Luke had more to say, had more to express and he just wanted to support, therefore, he interlaced their fingers, squeezing softly before letting go, heart thudding a little at the little touch.

"It's just that men 'round here, normal men are just considered useless? They just um exist, you know? Even normal girls don't want us, like it--- it feels like I have no value as a human just 'cause 'm a normal and 's just--- it makes me feel worthless."

Opening up about his insecurities wasn't very hard for Luke, the poor boy thought that everybody knew of them already, that everybody judged him already with the way he walks and talks and expresses himself and the mere fact that Cole seemed clueless made him feel just a tad better about himself.

Luke looked up at Cole to observe his expression, nimble fingers fidgety on his lap, continuing after making sure that the other man wasn't judging him,

"And sex is like--- it's like a coping mechanism of some sorts? like it makes me feel like even I, a normal, is valued, like even I can do something to someone like even I mean something to someone. 's just, hearing people moan from the pleasure you give them makes you feel valued. Um, do you, do you get what I mean?"

Luke's eyes were cloudy with tears now, small coughs erupting from his throat before it turned into a whole coughing fit, his genes affecting him.

The coughing boy reached out for water and pills, Cole getting it for him, Luke soothing this burning throat with the liquid, soothing his burning lungs with the little pill, recovering as he took deep breaths before looking at Cole.

"'M sorry you had to see that, it's something common for us normals," He muttered.

"Hey--- Hey, look at me, Luke, it's okay, it wasn't your fault, it was--- no, it is the world's fault. if they only hadn't been so greedy," Cole sighed.

The boy looked so vulnerable like that, Cole whimpered inside his head, he looked like he was about to pass out, Cole hated this, he somehow felt guilty for all the privileges he received as one of his very friends suffered here with his body hating him and the world betraying him.

That day, Cole promised, he promised to make Luke feel valued as much as he can as a friend and if possible, as someone more. Yes, he was scared of the law, immensely so but maybe, he thinks, just maybe if someone was worth it, he'd be ready to lose it all.

That day, Cole managed to pour out some of his insecurities too, it was in the heat of the moment, he swears, definitely not because of the adorable boy who listened oh, so attentively.
