After beheading the queen, the demon insects in this part of the cavern appeared to collapse. I watched as the demon insects turned feral, sometimes turning on each other and tearing their own brethren apart. They lost all sense of cohesion, and with no intelligent mind directing them or offering even a semblance of tactics, they were easily routed by my remaining Steel Golems.
It didn't take long before the resin material was cleared, the purplish carpet of organic substance either receding or burned away by the napalm of my salamanders. The last of the biological structures had been razed, the hive bombarded into oblivion by my mammoths and colossi's missiles and disintegrated by the colossi's charged particle beams. What organic matter was left was incinerated by patrolling salamanders.
