Chapter 48 - A name

----???----

It was a dark night, not a lot of people were still awake, these two were. One if them was clad in suit of medieval armor, the other was wearing civillian clothes.

"So, have you found a name yet?" The armored man asked.

The man in civillian clothes shook his head. "You know, I want it to be iconic, people meed to hear my name and tremble in fear yet."

"Wish I'd given it that much thought, The Black Knight is not great. Second bag please."

The first was filled with money, the man handed the knight the second bag.

"At least people will be sure to get your gimmick, for me, that's hard, I mean, for me, most people don't survive if they see it."

A hero tried to pounce on them, he thought he had the element of surprise. Before he could even land he was penetrated through his head with a sharp tentacle.

"I really hoped Strongarm would show up, but hey, if you attack during the tournament, only E-ranked heroes will show up."

"I was surprised you got the date, gave us some time to plan. Third bag please."

"Well, I got it from this weird dude, calls himself Last, don't ask me how he got it though, I'm wondering about that myself."

The knight had filled the second bag and been handed a third while the other man had removed the hero's ID and destroyed it's tracker.

"So, Kevin, how are the kids doing." The knight asked while Kevin killed another superhero.

He dumped the body in a pit that was filled with nearly 200 bodies, most of the low ranked heroes had been killed, even the few vigilantes who didn't belong to any organization.

"You know how it is. Trying to keep the wife happy, taking care of the kids, so on so forth. Oh, my oldest boy has awakened to his mother's abilities, it does boost his confidence that most girls are now really starting to become attracted to him. His sister seems to be awakening to both."

The knight looked at Kevin, who gave him the fourth and final bag. "What is your wife's ability if I might ask?"

"She emits powerful pheromones, making anyone of the opposite sex extremely attracted to her, it shows that she truly loves me because she could literally get any guy she wanted."

The knight couldn't argue with that. After having filled the final bag they calmly walked outside, the police was surrounding the place they had hit, pointing their guns at the duo.

"Hold your hands in the air or we'll shoot." They did, that was followed by a massacre as all the officers were impaled by those sharp tentacles, after which they reentered Kevin's body.

"Oh, Kev, I know, what about 'Abomination'?"

Kevin looked at his friend. "That just hurts my feelings man. Also, I would get sued for copyright infringement."

"Sorry, my bad, it's just hard you know. Even supervillains sue for almost everything nowadays. Let's just hope that the 'Silent Legion' or whatever they call themselves pay up for these IDs. What do they need them for anyways?"

Kevin shrugged, he didn't know nor care. "Not that it would really pose a problem, I mean, we did just get the money we needed and more just from robbing that place to lure those heroes to us in the first place.

"I guess that's true, I still want them to pay though. Living on Earth stinks, I want to relocate to preferably Mars, although I hear the moon is also good."

"You know, maybe I can finally take my wife on that trip to Atlantis, she's always wanted to go the the diamond city."

"Who doesn't, but it's way to expensive, I mean, travel alone costs you an arm and a leg. Unless you plan to go with a ferry company, and I hear they don't have the best reputations."

The two kept their discussion up, occasionally saying names that they had come up with on the spot. They dropped of the IDs at the drop off point. They immediately got transferred the money

Seeing a familiar face Kevin called out. "Hey, aren't you the guy who gave me the scoop on tournament week, what are you doing here."

At the same time the knight called out to the same man. "Hey, aren't you the guy who helped me land this gig?"

They looked at each other, then at the guy, and started laughing. "Wow, that explains it."

They went over ad talked with Last. "How did it go fellas, I'm just in town for some take out."

"Good, good, Kevin here still hasn't found his name."

Last looked at me. "... ... ... PFFFT, you're a fulltime villain and don't have your own name, now that's sad.

Let me help you, what do your powers do?"

Kevin looked at him in surprise. "I transform into a monster that most people would just describe as an eldritch monster."

"Why not go for Eldritch."

"... ... Because I hadn't though about it."

And that is, how Eldritch, one of the most feared villains to ever exist got his name.
