"We need a team at Samson Book Store 23rd Julian Boulevard Zephyrhills, we just found Jane Doe's apartment." Sera told Inspector Fin on the phone.
"Right away Ma'am" He replied and the line went dead.
Sera had picked the lock and let them into Dora's apartment, at first glance they saw a neat and homely apartment. It was painted sky blue and the polished floor sparkled, evidence of proper care and constant cleaning. It was a two bed room apartment just enough for a small family. The seating room has just three single sofas all arranged to face the 53 inch flat television on the right of the room. There were framed pictures on the wall of the deceased and her mother but nothing about the father.
"I found something Sera." Announced from the first bed room she had entered.
"Try not to touch anything, the team are coming to tear this place apart for any information that could lead us to what happened to her, we don't want your prints all over this place." Jason told Abel and headed for the room from where Sera had called out.
Same as the seating room, the bed room was sparkling and an aroma close to Jasmine was little in the air. It was obviously Dora's room, there were a few frames of her and one table frame of her mom beside the bed. The bed was covered with a pink bed spread and the duvet was a baby pink.
"We have got ourselves a pink lady in our hands." Jason said and one picture caught his eyes. It was a painting actually, around four feet of height and two and a half feet in width. It was a picture of Dora and her mom when she was a bit younger. She was smiling with both hands covering her mouth and her mother stood behind her with both hands on her shoulder. It was captivating and Jason just stood there taking in the whole detail of this wonderful moment mother and daughter had, once upon a time.
"Take a look at this." Sera handed a card to Jason.
He hadn't worn a glove yet so he got out his handkerchief and took the card from Sera.
"Daily and always I think of
how much you have grown so big
and it pains me
that I am not there to be a part of it.
There are moments I wish
Things were different so I can hold you in my
arms on a day like this looking into your
eyes when I say,
. Happy Birthday Dorathy." D. K
"Who could D. K. be?" Jason asked nobody in particular.
"Yeah, I also asked that too now look at the envelope who it was addressed to." Sera told Jason
And he turned the envelope over and he saw the initial D. K on it. This feels strange, he thought, did the sender address the card to himself or was it Dora who sent the card to herself. We need to find her full name, I know it will be here somewhere." Jason said looking around.
"I already did, her name is Dorathy Beverly, and it's on the spelling Bee award on display in the seating room." Sera said as she stepped towards a set of drawers.
Jason got out his note pad and scribbled something in it before turning to talk to Sera.
"That's the sound of the boys coming, we have other things to do." He turned to look around one more time. "We have to verify Daniels alibi and we need to check on the security outfit that guards the T. W dockyard plus it's almost dinner, you can convert that lunch to dinner." Jason said without looking at Sera face.
"So which is it going to be first, Rita, security or Dinner?" Sera asked
"Let's do security before they wrap up officially for the day then we can do Rita before dinner." Jason said stressing the dinner part.
"Wow what do we have here?" Fin said as he stepped in and distracted the conversation.
Hi Fin, it's all yours now, dig." Sera said as she walked towards the door.
Jason followed behind and joined Abel still standing with both hands behind his back. He felt pity for the young man, he wished Dora had gotten the opportunity to be with this gentle dude. Abel was obviously in love and talking about love, Jason tried to remember the last time he was in love. It was a long time ago when he was infected with that virus, that's what it was, he though as he touched Abel on the shoulder.
"Thank you AB, you have done so much for Dora am sure she is smiling at you." Jason said and wondered if that had come out awkwardly.
"Really?" Abel asked
"Yes, without you she would have remained a nobody, you gave her corpse a name and that is worth smiling at you for, isn't it?" Jason asked.
"I guess." Abel said and bent his head.
"Let's walk you to you bookstore, we have other ends to tighten up, okay?" Jason said breaking up that near cry moment Abel was rolling into.
"Yeah, sure." Abel said and led the way to the main door.
****************
Rahim saw some guards running towards the staircase to the VIP, from where he stood, he counted four guards. It is possible there could be more from the other angles his eyes could not cover. The music filled the entire club and from above where the VIP was situated he could see people smoking and drinking, while others danced there heart out.
Rahim stretched his hand over the counter and grabbed the bottle of Cinnamon Fire Rum, he walked towards the stars as he unscrewed the cap. Walking over broken chairs and tables, glasses and dead bodies he got the wall beside the stairs. He turned and rested on the wall beside the staircase facing the cataclysm he made of the once lovely La Tampa Club VIP lounge. From that corner where he stood with his back on the wall anybody rushing in will run past him and into the cataclysm. He was beginning to here footsteps doubling up the staircase, he raised the bottle to his mouth and took a hug gulp before placing it carefully on the ground beside him. He helped the shotgun close to his chest with both hands as he waited for the assailants to make their way up the stairs.
Just as he had planned it two guards ran past him into the lounge and saw the mess it had turned into. They were hug too like the others, both had pistols ready to shoot. Their backs where on Rahim and he didn't want to be too fast to pull the trigger of the shotgun, he had counted four and expected even more.
Just then another guard came in with a rifle Mi6 and as he was right beside Rahim, Rahim used the butt of his gun to hit the guard straight on the throat. He didn't wait to see if the impact delivered the expected result he turned the muzzle of the shotgun to the first two guards and fired at the one closes to him, the guard was thrown away with a hole in the back of his head. Rahim corked the shotgun and fired at the second guard who was trying to make a run to a safe corner, he received it in his back and just dropped there. The guard who got hit on the throat earlier tried getting up and Rahim hit the butt of the shotgun on the guard's neck again, this time harder than the first and the guard just spread out on the ground.
Shots came from down the stairs and Rahim docked back behind the wall, he had three cartridges left and it didn't seem to bother him. The three guards had dropped their arms so he has two pistols laying away from him and a riffle just beside him but exposed to the shooters making their way up the stairs.
Rahim turned and saw the bottle of Cinnamon beside him, he grabbed it and gulped a mouthful again, it burned his throat but that was exactly what he needed, the sting of the good stuff. He placed the shotgun beside him and walked to the pistol's the dead men had dropped. He picked them up and walked to the bar stool where he hung his suit, he wore it before heading for the stairs. As he entered the line of sight of the shooters who were carefully coming up, he shot the first guard in sight on the head, the second shot hit the shoulders of the guard behind the first one as he was falling backward. The third guard shot at Rahim and missed, he shot again and it greased pass Rahim's Shoulders. Rahim needed one alive to point him to the direction he wanted to go so he shot at the guards hand and the guy dropped the gun and screamed. At this point some people locking around the staircase had taken cover and some running to the exit and the whole place was beginning to all apart.
Rahim walked down to where the guard was lying and holding his hands with on finger missing.
"Where is Cash?" Rahim asked as he pointed the gun to the guards head.
The music suddenly stopped and the shouts of he the people rustling out filled the whole place more guards ran out from a door under the DJ stand, that must be the door to the underground chambers where drugs where packed, Rahim thought.
"Where is Cash don't make me ask you again?" Rahim said without emotions and the guard knew there was no jokes in those words.
"Bolt is the only one who knows, he speaks directly to Cash, believe me." The guard said in pains, still grabbing his bloodied hand.
"Where is this Bolt?" Cash asked
"He is down in the basement." The guard said.
"Thank you." Rahim told the guy and walked towards the door he had seen those guards running out of. The rustling of people here and there made it a bit difficult to spot the guards as they weren't branded or uniformly dressed, just there heavily built frame gave them out. A guard walked up to him and grabbed at his hand, not realizing he had a gun.
"Hey that is the exit, a lunatic is shooting up the place, head to the exit now." Rahim looked at the guard who didn't know he was actually referring to the lunatic.
"You shouldn't have done that." Rahim told the guard.
"Done what?" The guard asked confused.
"Touch me." Rahim said as he raised his hands to indicate where the guard had touched him.
Just then the guard saw the gun and froze, he was talking to the lunatic and he didn't know, that was the last thing that ever crossed his thoughts as Rahim shot him on the throat and grabbed the falling body. Now the sound of music was out and the loud bang of the shot was heard so loud. He remaining people who had not exited the club now doubled the effort. Some were rolling on the floor as they were either very high on drugs or on alcohol.
The guards who ran out earlier heard the gun shot and spotted Rahim using the dead guard as shield, they opened fire as Rahim made his way towards the door under the DJ stand. Rahim stayed well-guarded behind the dead man and at every opportunity I shot at the assailants, before he got to the door he had shot all guards dead, four guards in total.
He looked a mess, from his head to his shoe had blood everywhere, soon the cops will storm this place he was sure but he needed to get his information first. He walked towards the door in front of him. He was sure Bolt was waiting for him somewhere inside this door.
