Wei Wei had just arrived and the show had already started without her.
Jo turned around and a jolly face appeared in front of her.
"So tell me Sis' do you neeeeed my assistance?" Asked Wei Wei with a wide grin.
The girl's behaviour made Jo crack and a faint smile appeared on the corner of her lips. Wei Wei took this as a silent approval and she immediately turned to the two hostesses.
"As my sis' here, I also don't have an invitation. Are you going to chase me out as well?!" Wei Wei asked in a sarcastic tone.
The two girls turned pale instantly. Their lives were now over.
Miss Wei Wei was almost a celebrity in China and everyone knew who she was. Although she lived in the UK for most of her life, every time she would return to China, she would make the headlines. Wei Wei's character was too explosive and the traditional and restrained Chinese culture, made her stand out from the crowd. Back in the UK, her behaviour would actually be considered normal, but here it was far off, especially for a young daughter of a wealthy distinguished family.
"How could we!!!... Young Miss Wei Wei, we are very sorry... it was a misunderstanding..."
"Yeah... yeah, a misunderstanding" Added the other hostess with an awkward smile on her face. How could they dare to offend the young Miss of the Lu family, they weren't tired of living yet. Just who was this woman and why Miss Wei Wei is calling her 'Sis'?
Wei Wei was feeling mischievous as always and said "Then if it was a misunderstanding, I think you owe my Sis' four kowtows each! Don't you think?"
The girls looked at each other in panic and started kowtowing to the woman in front of them, hitting their heads on the ground. Seeing this scene Jo was shocked, she flinched and wanted to stop them, but that meant slapping Wei Wei across her face, so she immediately straighten her back and regained her composure. Wei Wei looked at her with a conflicted face. This girl won't survive another day in China, without her.
Inside the ladies toilet, Ele was on the phone.
"What??!! Wei Wei?? Shoot... how dares she!!! I have prepared so much for this evening and Wei Wei helped her get in?!! You're useless!!!" She hung up the phone and threw the tray of napkins from the sink counter on the floor. Ele was fuming with rage, her plan of getting close to Lu Ye Ze was crumbling in front of her, she needed to come up with something else quick. Ele regained her composure then she looked in the mirror and rearranged her dishevelled hair, then she stepped out. Minutes later Lin Yan exited the toilet cubical with a stern face. She quickly made a phone call and left the ladies washroom as well.
The two ladies entered the venue arm in arm. Wei Wei casted her eyes over the crowd, looking for a certain someone. She soon spotted him by the bar socialising with two other gentlemen, he was alone and she didn't want to miss this chance.
"Sis' I have to leave you for a moment, I am going to powder my nose!" Wei Wei mocked up an excuse and swiftly departed, leaving Jo by her self.
Jo looked after the girl, until she disappeared from her line of sight. She exhaled heavily and moved graciously and aimlessly through the crowd. She suddenly felt a scorching gaze casted behind her. Jo turned around and reflexively looked up. In the next moment their eyes met.
An elderly man, who had a young girl attached to his arm, was talking to Lu Ye Ze. He was wearing a formal suit, with a glass of red wine in his hand, he had a broad smile on his face and was glancing from time to time at the youth, who was clutching his arm.
Lu Ye Ze on the other hand, seemed absent minded, his eyes were casted down fixated on the girl below him.
