Lin Yan went on stage and thanked everyone for their congratulatory wishes and their presence here tonight.
Wei Wei marched along with Pei Lightian towards her parents and congratulated her Mum for her birthday.
"Happy birthday Mum, I wish you'll always remain young and healthy and continue to support and fund me throughout my life" Wei Wei was being extra tonight.
"Thank you!" Lin Yan was lost in her thoughts and she didn't even pay any attention to her daughter's words. Wei Wei obviously noticed and she became intrigued.
Ele joined the mother daughter duo as well and handed her gift to Lin Yan. The woman accepted it politely.
Jo was looking from a far at this happy family, a strong feeling of not belonging enveloped her. The sparkle in her eyes dissipated and it got replaced by darkness. She missed her family, the places where she belonged and her friends.
Lu Ye Ze approached her handing over a glass o champagne.
"Good evening my dear! Sorry for not being able to pick you up from home for this event!" Whispered the man in her ear.
Jo's eyes gleamed with coldness while they looked up at him. This man is submerged a bit too deep in his character, she didn't want to play anymore. Jo didn't knew anyone in this country and everybody seemed to hate her. Why did she had to be targeted by everyone.
Lu Ye Ze noticed her aura changed, becoming distant from him again, but this time he won't allow it. In a blink of an eye he pulled her in his embrace and kissed her on the lips.
He felt something was wrong and he was going to lose her if he continued to stay idle. He wanted her to stay with him. He didn't want to hold her by force he wanted her to be willing, but she was too scared of him and won't accept his feelings.
Jo pushed him away looking dazed. His heart panged, how he wished to have met her in a different situation and their bond to form naturally. He has gotten to dependant on her and the fear of losing her became stronger day by day. Lu Ye Ze leaned closer and whispered in to her ear again.
"Ri-El, please stay with me!"
Jo remained silent. The pair headed towards the celebrated woman to give their blessings. When they were a few steps away, Jo slid a small black velvet case in to Lu Ye Ze's pocket. The man noticed her action, but remained silent.
"Mother! I wish you a happy birthday!" Lu Ye Ze addressed his mother.
Jo still held a bit of resentment from last time they met and she pulled out a dry "Happy Birthday Madam Lu!".
Lin Yan paused and looked at the girl in front of her intently, she saw her son's actions earlier and fell pensive. Maybe the things weren't as she thought, after all she had never seen her son standing so close to a woman, he even kissed her. Maybe I should observe a little bit more this fake marriage.
Lin Yan, smiled at the girl and thanked her, striking a small conversation.
"Ri-El, I hope you don't find the banquet this evening too boring. Although a lot of the guest here are not young anymore, the food is delicious and the music is lively.
Also a lot of my friends came accompanied by their children, so there a few young people you can make friends with".
Jo looked at this woman who changed to 180 degrees her attitude towards her. What was this, was it a trap? She had learned a bit of Chinese, but still she couldn't hold a conversation.
Ele realised that something was a miss with her future mother in law and she decided it was time to apply plan B. This trash of a woman will not steal what's hers in this lifetime. She had a lot more tricks up her sleeve.
