From that point onwards , it was a simple matter to force all of them to submit.
Although simple , it was very stressful and time consuming. First , he went through the memory fragments of the three kings so that he'd have a basic knowledge of the monsters that he'd be dealing with.
Based on this knowledge, he either recruited the subservient ones , or eliminated the monsters that looked like trouble. Especially the ones that had a high chance of evolving in the near future. The only monster of such potential that he spared was the silver furred wolf kings last and only descendant. A wolf called Ice shadow.
He was a Snow White wolf , and the only reason that it voluntarily followed him was because he had avenged its mother. He was loyal because he felt that he owed him. Salazar chuckled at that. Monsters were so simple and predictable, unlike humans.
He spent the next few weeks sorting through and managing the affairs of the floor as well as employing his new subordinates to search for any magical minerals.
Despite all his careful planning , he knew that there was still a high chance that a monster would evolve outside the scope of his control and then come after him, meaning he had to increase his strength as fast as possible.
Of all of them, he trusted the wolves the most , because they listened to Ice shadow, who took his orders from him.
Truly ; this world followed the law of the jungle. Might makes right. Salazar had to admit that he had changed quite a bit since he'd come to this world. Whether for good or bad , it was too early to tell.
.....
He had decided to reside in the former residence of the three eyed Centipede queen. Although he didn't trust her subordinates , and therefore kept his [ Network] skill active at all times , the lair was at a strategic point that would allow him to access almost any point on the dungeon floor at the fastest pace possible.
It had been over two months now since the death of the three kings and his takeover and he was starting to get impatient. During this time, he had worked on the skills at his disposal , was well as tried to create new ones. Although it wasn't much , for someone who was to stay on high alert 70% of the time, his progress encouraged him.
During this period of time , both his [Shred ] and [Mana manipulation ] had reached level 2 and his proficiency in shapeshifting had greatly increased.
But it was so freaking boring here. No news articles, no games or TV. Not even a common book. All he could so every single freaking day was train , eat , sleep , train , repeat.
It wasn't a happy life , but it was a secure one. Then , just a couple of days ago , he has been informed that a place that has the necessary requirements for a magic crystal to be born had been discovered.
Although it wasn't very high , it was still a chance. So , he sent about one third of his forces just to investigate. The location was on the other side of the mountains that's the giant king ruled. It would take some time to go there and Reuther safely.
Suddenly , he heard footsteps. Turning around , he saw Nasuae , the spider that had captured him at the beginning. He had killed her mother soon after he rose to power , because he feared her poison. The most logical thing to do was to end the bloodline , but the young spiders fear was useful to him.
"My lord , I had been confirmed. The hunting party just returned with good news. The valley contains magic crystals. Dozens of them. "
He could tell that she was excited. Magic crystals contained high degrees of concentrated mana and as useful as it was for him , other monsters would find it even more useful.
"Is that so, " if he had a proper face he'd be smiling. "Alert everyone. In a days time, we move out to extract this precious resource. I shall personally oversee this. "
It was for the exact reason that they were precious that he needed to go there with them. To prevent them from making use of it before he was ready. In fact , he was already at risk because he didn't know if some monsters had stayed behind.
He wouldn't be overthrown. At least not yet. Not until he was ready to move on to the next dungeon floor. He sighed. How long would it take him before he could see the light of day. It was so gloomy being born in a dungeon.
But he'd persevere. After all , which great man doesn't have a high degree of perseverance and tolerance. He'd get through this time , and come out stronger for it.
