---a certain girl's POV---
another day of living life, my name is Seimei Shizuku, an ordinary teenage girl, wearing a blazer uniform, on her way to middle school, at least it would've been better if none of these ghostly beings that I have been seeing for as long as I could remember would leave me be.
As I ran through the market place that doubled as a shortcut and good source of snacks given to me by the salesperson I frequently buy from, A ghost that looked like a soldier from the Heian with a couple of swords sticking out of him and half of his face chopped off, dressed as a samurai somewhat ruined the quiet day for me.
"Lady Seimei, Lady Seimei can you hear me?"
I was tired of always trying to solve their problems yet I was unable to simply ignore those in need, so I answered with a frustrated tone to release all of my bottled-up annoyance which caused the ghost man's half-face cramp up a bit.
"Yes, yes, what is it this time, Naotora?"
The ghost-man named Naotora cleared his none existent throat before dropping some words that were disturbing and hard to believe at first yet thanks to his character I was unable to peg it as a sick joke as this guy had earned the reputation as an overly honest and at times blunt ghost man.
"Lady Seimei, I sense a disturbance within the area, please turn back and return home, as I fear a great change will come about, I beseech you!"
He went as far as to do a floating dogeza meaning that he means business, there were two times before that he did such a thing, the first time was was when he begged to release the spirit of his general that was trapped in some kind of sick array meant to collect souls then torture them until they became evil spirits.
the second time was when he thanked me before offering himself to be my follower much to my dismay with a few warnings that something was within my soul that brought dread to most ghosts but it also attracted other people that wanted to control spirits, thus showing off how capable Naotora was with his spear as at the time I learned that I can materialize his body and make it capable of defending me when needed, currently, I can handle an hour of it before passing out completely but that is beside the point.
His bowing again, made me cover my face with one hand that slowly slid down to control my new frustrations as I am forced to miss a day of school and had to think of something to explain to my parents.
So with a defeated sigh, I agreed with Naotora and made my way back home, so to pass the time a bit since there was still half an hour till home, i picked Naotora's brain for more information.
"so what is this so-called disturbance you mentioned earlier? and what of the great change coming about?"
I didn't even realize the apprehension growing within my tone making it obvious how much I trusted him, Naotora was touched by this before gaining a hardened look on his face before he stated this.
"Lady Seimei, it looks like i won't have to explain."
I was confused by his battle-ready tone before a deafening nail against chalkboard-like sound reverberated out then a split was formed in the sky and the wind began picking up creating a few gusts that knocked down a few signs and billboards luckily for me I liked wearing spats as I really didn't like how short these damn uniform skirts were!
Before a large horned being holding a spiked club that matched its size landed not too far from us, destroying the recently busy area as people were killed or gravely injured by this...
Oni?
No, it wasn't anything like in the folklore, this guy was trained, armed and was simply killing people as if clearing the area like he was preparing for something, while I received a few injuries from the debris that went flying thanks to the large monster now killing anyone, and destroying everything in its path.
I called out to my loyal companion.
"NAOTORA!"
He was ready as the loyal ghost already used some of her energy to fend off most of the debris that could have killed her, Naotora braced himself before his body was morphed into a well dressed and armed samurai with an eerie-looking spear with bluish flames coming off of it!
With a sharp gaze and strangely familiar scene, I relayed my will and order, as oddly enough, whenever I did so it seemed to strengthen him, Naotora said so as well as I tried to stay firm despite the gory scene of a few hundred people were slain by this monster's arrival!
"Kill that monster NOW!"
Naotora made a ferocious grin as his aura that surrounded his body expanded with a confirmation as he relived the battlefield yet again!
"BY YOUR WILL!!"
With a dash that was fast enough to seem like he was teleporting, Naotora appeared in front of the Large monster stabbing his spear forward to which was barely blocked as the monster struggled to stay on its feet as the sound of rubble scratching against the ground and breaking was heard with the metal spear and mace grinding against each other, but like a powered arrow, the attack was deflected unfortunately for the monster to the ground.
As Naotora quickly attacked again barely a second after touching the ground puncturing the left shoulder causing both of them to fall to the ground as the monster roared in fury and pain!
But this made things worrisome as the downed being grabbed hold of Naotora as he was trying to pull his weapon free in a faster movement as if the monster was getting stronger when it grabbed the samurai spirit the spear was pulled out before he was thrown to the ground then stomped down on causing the area to shake like it was an earthquake was happening.
Seeing that things weren't going well for my companion, I doubled the output of this energy that Naotora used for his partial transformation, bring forth a pillar of the bluish flames, that pushed away the large monster, bring forth the desired form that the samurai worshipped, and wished to have in battle as he came out of the newly formed crater.
his armor was now covered with blue flames that burned those that touched it, his arms were now four a pair wielded the spear that now became a sinister spear, and the other pair on the shoulders wielded a pair of flaming wakizachis, as he looked more like a demonic being than the hero that he once strived to become.
The pillar of flames dissipated, allowing the monster enough breathing room to attack again with a downward strike with its mace that threatened to flatten its target which would've worked if he didn't have his other set of arms wielding the two Wakizachis.
The sound of metal grinding against metal screeched out loudly, as I covered my ears and closed my eyes momentarily tripling the output, as I really wasn't feeling safe in this place since something seemed to be peering into my very being, the large mace was parried to the side before a Glaive stabbed the wrist that held the weapon completely severing the hand!
this made the large monster release the mace as the hand was cut off before Naotora charged forth fully intending on finishing this fight right here and now!
With no way to defend itself the monster a last resort by charging towards Naotora with its fangs ready to chomp down but this was prevented by swift chops of his two swords, the monster was cut into four pieces before more chops followed just in case.
With a monster now diced up on the ground, I turned down the output to the bare minimum before ordering Naotora to bring me home as I worried for my parents, Now exhausted from the brief fight, I wanted to get to my house as soon as possible, as the Rupture in the sky didn't disappear so there was a chance there would be more coming!
While strange memories seemed to slip into my mind as if I had forgotten such things after so long including a strange spider that felt familiar but i couldn't remember from where.
What I failed to notice at this time was the amount of hands trying to wrench the rift to open even wider and that there were thousands more like it forming up in the skies!
