Mia: Are you okay, Zane, you don't seem happy at all. I know you very well and I know when something is off with you. Come on, you can tell me anything, am your best friend after all.
Zane: Am not in love with Raquel.... anymore.
Mia pulled away from the hug, widening her eyes, mixed feelings taking the better part of her, and she didn't understand why.
"Zane, no, I know you got angry for what she said to me but, you need to understand her more. I believe deep within you are still in love with her, please don't hurt her feelings. Raquel is someone who needs someone who can really understand her like you," she said with a soft gentle voice.
"Mia, listen, its not only because of the way she talked to you. I stopped having feelings for her, I don't know from when, all I remember is that I feel irritated when she is around me, like a nuisance. She forced me to go on our dates when I clearly said am not interested, I also found out what Clara was telling me that day about Raquel using me. Do you remember when I first met you then Raquel came? Then I was so in love with her, the truth was that she agreed to become mine because she wanted to make Clyde jealous. But then in the process, she confessed she loved me when I was 15, and her 16, it was true though. The reasons as to why I don't want her anymore is because she used me for 2 whole years, she is spoilt, doesn't respect you and she is not my type," Zane interlocked his hands with Mia, and they began walking together to school.
"Why was Raquel so angry today?" Mia asked again.
"During our date I told her that I don't want to be her boyfriend and we should break up, she assumed it was because of you that we are breaking up," Zane said straight forwardly.
"Me? I don't get it, how me," Mia made a confused expression.
"She said that... I am breaking up with her because am in love with you," Mia suddenly halted in her tracks and looked at Zane.
"Which is false...right Zane? I believe you wouldn't betray her because of your best friend?" Mia's tone was more of a statement than a question.
Silence reigned between them, and Mia felt a bit uneasy. Zane sighed and eventually talked.
"I..I am not sure.. I like it when you are around me, I usually feel like I am not fine when you are not with me, you give me happiness Mia, I like you but...I really don't think that is love, right? just.. what best friends feel and do?" Zane felt something different stirring his emotions.
"Hmm, Zane do you find me attractive? From what I researched, If you do find me attractive then you are definitely in love with me, and I guess you don't find me attractive, I look more of a weirdo. So, let's hurry to school, I don't wanna get late for class," she walked past him feeling relieved.
Zane was shocked. 'Does this girl know what she is saying? Any guy would salivate just by seeing her lips,' he thought. 'Oh my!! I... am I in love... because she attracts me all the time I see her. I even think she's cute, hot and sexy at the same time, f*ck. get it together Zane. Just a best friend,' his mind was in a heated debate.
Moments later they arrived in school on time because of Mia's fast pace. They separated and went to their respective classes. Luckily no teacher was in class, and everyone was making noise. Many eyes were on her, admiring her beauty, boys wanting to approach her but scared, other girls being jealous of her, others wanting to make friends with her, and others wanting to become her boyfriend. She noticed the eyes as usual, and headed to her sitting position. Her moods changed when she found Clyde with his three girls. Making out with Clara, who straddled him, in front of everyone, and the other two seated at either side of his desk, yearning for his attention. 'Can't they do this somewhere else?' she thought and felt disgusted. She sat down and took her books, luckily, someone lightened her moods, because all she could hear was lips smacking beside her and moaning voices.
"Hey there sunset," she didn't know why but she stood up and hugged Liam as soon as he talked to her. Where did this confidence of hers come from? Before, she could not even look at someone in the eye. Clyde was still unaware that Mia was there. "Hi, Liam, why'd call me sunset?" she wondered why all the boys she knew nicknamed her. Zane called her cookie, Xander sometimes buttercup, Clyde little munchkin and now Liam sunset.
Clyde suddenly pulled away from Clara when he heard that angelic familiar voice. He turned his head to find Liam and Mia standing so close together.
"I called you sunset because of yesterday, when you recorded your face then the sunset, I had a hard time telling which was way beautiful. You of course foolish me, you have no idea how many times I watched the video," he smiled at her.
"Really? Am pretty? Thank you, you are handsome too," Mia said playfully as someone was turning green with envy. Clyde made Clara stand, and he felt bad Mia had seen this side of him. He knew whenever he got angry, he would always engage himself with sexual activity, he still hadn't got over the fact that Mia had a boyfriend, who was far way good looking than him.
"Let's go at my desk, we'll study there all the teachers are in a meeting, they might not even teach today," when they turned to leave, Mia caught Clyde's eyes shamelessly scanning her features. "Hi Mia," he managed to say. "Hi Clyde," and with that short greeting, she walked to Liam's desk.
"Sit, I shall stand," Liam told her and she didn't object because she knew Liam won't agree if she was the one standing. Mia looked at Liam expectantly, and he sighed. "Sunset, don't look at me like that, I shall continue with my story later, someone might eavesdrop, after school. I want to take you somewhere," he told her.
"Let's study Chemistry for now because of the final major tests for closing school, which is next week, that is why our teachers are on a meeting," he said and Mia's brain cells digested all the information at once. By that time they were studying, Clyde sent the girls away, and Clara tried to make a move, but got rejected. He wanted to be alone, seeing Mia with someone pained him, and now she is with Liam.
'That damned son of a bitch, I get what I want Liam, she is mine and am not going to rest until she is mine. Am an imbecile, that red haired boy wasn't Mia boyfriend as they acted awkwardly around each other. Liam is gonna pay for taking my girl, he knows that I want her, yet acting foolish'. The rest of the day went normally, without Clyde causing any problems. Mia and Liam walked together making stories and laughing, and the ones who wanted to befriend Mia, or become her boyfriend concluded that she and Liam were a couple.

Time for going home reached and students were happy no teacher had attended classes. Zane rushed to Mia's class to walk with her home but she didn't, find her there. He felt disappointed, and looked through the class window. He hurried outside after spotting a curly haired white head. 'Its my unique cookie, who always stands out like that,' he murmured to himself.
"Mia, Mia," he shouted and she stopped to look at him, he finally reached where they were, panting as if he had just ran a marathon race. "Who.. I mean why is he here," he referred to Liam, he knew, in fact, everyone in school knew Liam was Clyde's best friend.
"Oh, sorry, Liam meet Zane, my best friend, Zane meet Liam, the only friend I have in Alpha class, he is the only person that makes me feel comfortable when I am with him around in class," the two boys just looked at each other without a word.
"I will be going home, are you coming? If not you know where to find me," he ignored Liam and walked away.
"So, where are you taking me? I want to know so bad," Mia smiled her mood was ecstatic.
"If you smile like that you are going to ruin the surprise, your smile will compel me to tell you where we are going," he interlocked his arms with Mia, and she gladly accepted it without feeling awkward.
"Mia wait," another voice came from behind them and she immediately knew whom it was. "What Clyde" she turned back to face him.
"Mia, why did you lie to me Xander was your boyfriend, were you avoiding me? why?" he said with a pain in his voice.
"Sigh...Yes, I was avoiding you, I don't want problems with Clara," she accepted, there was no point in lying.
"I will break up with Clara for you, I don't even care about her, Liam stop holding her arm now," his voice changed into a menacing one.
"No, don't Liam, listen Clyde, I don't want to get used, break my virginity then get dumped by you, don't break up with Clara," she said confidently.
"No, I can't do that to you Mia, you are precious, Liam I said let go," he yanked Liam's arm away from her and knelt in front of Mia.
"I can't sleep at night because all I think of is you, please give me a chance. I am so madly in love with you little munchkin, I want you so bad," the two were rendered speechless by his confession.
