Chapter 22 - Chapter 21

'He is definitely kidding me, and embarrassing himself, everyone is staring,' Mia thought and felt like burying herself, because everyone who was about to leave the school compound had halted to look at them.

"Please get up from your knees Clyde, all this is unnecessary because... I don't think you know what..love is," she almost whispered the last words, she wasn't also sure what love really was, since she has never experienced it before.

"I know what love is Mia, the day I set my eyes on you, I was smitten with you, I I have never seen a beauty like you before, please give me a chance," he sounded as if he was begging, he seemed so desperate.

'No one has ever told me this before, I don't know what to feel anymore. He lo..Loves me? How? Am pretty? But no.. he should not betray Clara like this. He uses and dumps girls like toys. Also he is using Liam and his father, I'd rather fall in love with my best Friend, than someone like him,' she thought for a while.

"Sorry but I don't have feelings for you, my heart belongs to someone else, am not lying this time, besides, Its so wrong to use.. I mean to dump Clara like that, she loves you so much, you two make a perfect couple and I don't see why you should break up," she lied about liking someone else, but Liam hid his surprised reaction.

"Am not in a relationship with Clara, so there is no need for a break up. She doesn't own me and she is aware I can get any girl I want." He replied honestly. He never had any genuine feelings for her, she was actually the one forcing herself onto him, and discovered his main weakness was that he was a sex addict, he wouldn't resist a hot girl like herself 'at least that was what Clara believed'. She found it easy to pleasure him and she would not give up easily because she loved him and believed he was her boyfriend.

"Clyde, am really sorry again to say this, I have a boyfriend, besides, we've only known each other for a week, please get up from your knees people are staring, you are also hurting your knees," Mia sounded courteous, with a worried voice, and offered her hand for Clyde to take, so he would stop kneeling.

Clyde stared at her dainty hands offering to make him stand up. Fellow students had their phones recording every scene unfolding before them between the Mayor's son and the beautiful White haired girl, whom most of the boys were yearning for her.

It was the first ever time for him to face rejection, no girl had ever refused him, in fact, they were the ones clinging and forcing themselves onto him, trying desperately to make him fall in love. Too bad it never worked because once they would engage in third base with him, he would soon replace them.

Clyde accepted Mia's palm and stood up, he glared at the students recording, who instantly dispersed. "I am going Clyde, this is a big misunderstanding, I don't think you are, in love with me, neither am I, thank you for being a good friend, don't break Clara. If you really want to love, stop playing with many people's feelings," she smiled at him kindly and walked away, with Liam following closely behind her.

They walked quietly, still thinking of how hurt Clyde might be, but deep within, she knew it was better to say the right thing before he ruined himself in following the wrong path of life, and breaking people's hearts. Even if he would not change, Mia played her part in advising him. Mia sympathised with Clyde for not knowing how vital love was, though she had never experienced it, she heard of people committing suicide.

"Mia you are so quiet, do you perhaps have feelings for him? Are you jealous of Clara that's why you don't want him? Did you say all those to him so that he could stop and be with only you?" he questioned as that was his point of view, he wanted to know so as to avoid falling in love with someone whose heart belonged to someone else

Mia halted in her tracks at turned to face Liam. 'Why would he think about all this,' Mia thought to herself. "No," came her short reply, and she continued walking, faster this time.

Liam didn't fail realize her change in attitude, and sighed. He gripped Mia's arm, "Look Mia, am sorry for the misunderstanding, I just wouldn't like you to be with someone like him. Let's go this way," Mia just followed him like an obedient little sheep, and she didn't even make an attempt to pull away from the hold. If anyone would see them they would conclude they were a couple.

They walked into a beautiful town, with many people hustling and bustling to meet their needs. Where they lived was quiet and suddenly social anxiety consumed her. She started trembling and walking unsteadily, her head bent down. It reminded her of the orphanage where she was always mistreated and made fun of. "I..I thi.. think we should go back no.. now, Liam, this is not a good idea," her voice was evidently shaky.

"Are you okay Sunset? What's wrong," he lifted up Mia's chin with his finger, but the girl did not look at him, she had shut her eyes. Liam absentmindedly started admiring her face. The long eyelashes that rested on her chubby cheeks and the red plump lips.

Mia then pulled him close in an embrace, burying herself in his chest which surprised him. "There are so many people, I.. I need a hoodie," Liam didn't need a sixth sense to know her problem.

"Listen Sunset, look at me, hold my arm and I promise everything will be fine as long as you are with me, okay? Now look at me," his voice was soothing for Mia, and she slowly lifted her head up and opened her eyes. Their faces were inches away, and Liam felt hypnotised by the most beautiful eyes he has ever seen.

Mia nodded and held his arm tightly, she felt safe as they walked together. Where they lived with Greta did not have many people around the homestead, and so was school. This was a whole different surrounding for her.

They continued walking and stopped in front of a tremendous building. They walked further inside, and the security guards did not even stop them. "Welcome Sunset, to my aunt's museum," he said after reaching the entrance.

Mia's mood was now ecstatic, and she smiled widely, forgetting about earlier. 'She is so easy to please, just like a cute little baby,' Liam thought, and led Mia into the museum.

They first came across a wooly mammoth hair strands and ash from an unknown volcano, which was so strange. 'How can an unknown invisible volcano erupt and leave ash behind? And how comes the hair strands from the mammoth look so new and also man-made? So odd.' Mia didn't voice out her thoughts since it would be rude as Liam's relative owned the museum.

The next stand was a piece of a T-Rex tooth, which looked white without fading to a darker colour. According to Mia's knowledge, T-Rex never existed, but now she believed it might have, not because of the tooth but the different worlds that no human knew existed.

"Its crazy how the tooth is so white," she said studying it closely.

"I know you think its probably fake, but I assure you its all real, come and see this," Liam said, leading her to the middle of the museum where more people were busy with their photos taking pictures. It was a major attraction to tourists but it was highly secured. People stood 4 feet away since there were lasers around the item sealed with a strong glass.

Curiosity got Mia to the peak and she craned her neck to get a better view. She saw a shiny golden feather. "Wow!" she exclaimed, "This can make someone have a great fortune in seconds, I guess its made of gold."

"Listen Sunset, that feather is not made, its natural, I know I might sound crazy, but I brought you here because I don't think you'll think of me as crazy, there is a history behind the feather. A somewhat history that we don't learn at school because many people believe this museum is biased and made stuff up . It was once shut down and almost banned, what saved my aunt's museum was the T-Rex tooth. Scientists proved that the tooth still had a dentine and nerve fibrils, which is a real tooth."

"Tell me the history behind the feather, I shall believe whatever you have to say, I promise," she looked at Liam with expectant eyes, eager to hear more.

"The history is that you make me want to kiss you everytime whenever you look at me like that,"
