Diana
"You okay?" Alice asked as I got to my locker.
"Yeah why?" I asked and she shrugged.
"You seemed really tense when you picked up your phone."
"Don't worry about it," I said and she nodded before closing her locker.
"You know there's a party tomorrow," she said and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
"On a school night?"
"It would have been today for all it's worth. Heather's back," she explained and I looked at her confused. "Queen bitch?"
"Not interested," I said and she bit back a laugh.
"You know this might be a good chance to upstage her," she said coming next to me.
"Now why would I want to do that?"
"You didn't know? Heather used to be his girlfriend. And I'm just being nice. She kept the girls away, he gave her popularity of course there's that tidbit that they slept together once. That's why she thinks there are together. It was never official," she said in a hushed whisper making me laugh.
"If she's insecure of me, not that I'm even trying to get on her turf it's not worth it," I said and she saluted me.
"Respect. Anyway, I've got to get to first period. And if it is really not worth it, you should really ask yourself why your still wearing it," she said pointing towards my hand before walking away and I stared at her before looking towards my hand.
**Flashback**
"What are we doing here again?"
"We're getting candy, and souvenirs" he said and I watched him curiously.
"I feel like you're using my sweet tooth against me," I accused and he chuckled.
"There's no way you can leave the amusement park with no souvenirs," he said with a grin and I frowned.
"You mean getting stuffed with cotton candy isn't souvenir enough," I whined and he laughed pulling me with him.
"Nope," he said and I pouted following him.
"Fine. But only if I get Batman. What? He has to be the greatest superhero of all time. You have to be crazy if you don't like him," I said and he laughed.
"I never said I didn't."
"But you didn't agree he's the greatest one either," I said and he laughed as we came across the Batman section and he searched around before coming back to me.
"What are you doing?" I asked him surprised as he went down on one knees letting Alyson sit on his thigh as he held out his other hand and the ring in it.
"Humor me," he said and I grinned.
"Yes! Yes! I promise to annoy you forever and ever and ever," I said before looking at him. "You sure you want to take the chance."
**End**
I'd almost forgotten about it. Crazy weekend that was, I mused to myself twisting it in my finger deciding it had no meaning whatsoever before I grabbed my books and closing the locker before my world shattered right in front of me.
Or at least it felt like it when the locker door slammed in my face and I swear I heard a crack.
"Oops, sorry I didn't see you there," the scratchy voice said and I frowned clutching my nose as I lifted my eyes to see Henley and I let out a growl.
"Freshmen, still have your heads in your asses," I said and she glowered at me as my gaze trailed to the new girl.
"You are right. She's pretty but trashy. And I hate trashy girls," the girl said with a sneer before her demeanor changed and before I could put in a word. "You poor thing. Why would you do that Henley?"
She said feigning concern and before I could give her a piece of my mind, or rather a broken nose like she did mine I was being pulled away.
"That's a cheap move, Heather and you know it," Ethan said and obviously I'd never heard him use that tone before. Maybe because he always so bright and happy whenever I see him.
"It was an accident. And besides why are you even taking her side? It's not our fault she's clumsy," she said dismissively and I took a step forward but he stopped me.
"I'm warning you Heather. Trust me, I won't be the only person you'll be worrying about," he warned and she seemed to take his words into consideration before they left. "Are you okay?"
He turned to me with a handkerchief and I frowned.
"Do you think it's broken?"
"Let's not jump into conclusions. I think a visit to the nurse is in order."
"You're probably right," I murmured letting him lead me down the hallway and via his friends.
"What happened?"
"Heather?" He let out an for a moment it seemed like all their expressions went dark.
"For the record I still think you should have let me punch her," I said before wincing at the slight friction as I spoke.
"You already have enough problems."
"Trust me I know," I grumbled glad the bleeding had stopped. At least I hoped it had.
"But since Cody and I have to print some assignments, the nurse's office is on the way to coach's office," Ethan said and I furrowed my eyebrows in frustration poking at the swollen skin. I had thought they weren't worth the trouble but now I had changed my mind. Alice you better prepared to set up this tornado.
"Let's go."
"Huh?" I asked confused looking up just as the bell rang and I could swear he was about to laugh and I narrowed my eyes at him. When did he get there?
"Stop doing that," he said coming back towards me and I frowned.
"It feels funny," I deadpanned wiggling my nose before wincing and I could hear him snicker.
"Have you thought maybe it's because your clumsy self walked right into a locker," he said and I glared at him.
"One I'm not clumsy and two, they have always had it out for me since day one."
"Sure," he said amused.
"I'm being serious. Then again, I did call them freshmen," I muttered under my breath and he laughed.
"Of course. You are trouble aren't you?" He said and I rolled my eyes. "I saw that."
"You were supposed to," I deadpanned and he chuckled and I went quite looking down at it. "Do you think it's broken?"
"It's not. You just need some ice for that," he said pulling me with him.
"Sure. Where did you practice doctor Ryder?" I asked sarcastically but all he did was laugh.
"If you're here for birth control, sorry I'm all out.."
"What!?" We asked simultaneously before our eyes fell on our entwined hands and we immediately let go, before she lifted her eyes. "No!?"
"Oh it's you," she said in realisation before chuckling at our reaction. "Don't look so shocked. It has happened more than thrice since school started. More episodes..oh what happened!?"
Susan said and I believed her as I sat myself on the examination table receiving a confused look for Ryder.
"Long story," I let out to answer both persons as I let Susan examine me.
"No worries. It's not broken. But I'll get you some ice for the swelling," she said and Ryder gave me a smug look making me stick out my tongue at him.
"Weren't you supposed to be seeing the coach or something?" I asked after a while of comfortable silence.
"Sick of me already princess," he asked and I watched him curiously.
"Well, I've seen more of you in the past week more than I have my family in years so naturally," I blurted out nonchalantly and he frowned.
"I didn't know.." he started and I cut him off chastising myself for bringing that up in the first place.
"Don't worry about it. The coach?" I asked and he watched me curiously for a while and I tried to shrug off the intensity of his gaze on me.
"I'm not going. He's going to ask for more than I can offer. It's a conversation I'm willing to put off for the rest of the year," he said mumbling the last part to himself but I heard though before anymore awkward conversation could ensue Susan was back with the ice bag.
"It isn't that swollen so it should be a little while," she said more to Ryder than to me before sending us off after she cleared me.
"What class?"
"Huh?" I asked confused and barely out of my thoughts.
"What's on your first period?" He asked and for a moment I was taken aback before shaking it off.
"Uh..Science... physics. Mr Cahill, I think," I said and he looked at surprised. "What? I had only one teacher to know."
But I came to realize that's not exactly why he was surprised.
"Miss Peters, it's nice of you to grace us with your presence," Mr Cahill said sarcastically as Ryder pushed me in and I froze.
He was supposedly the coolest yet I'll youngest teacher in the school, but according to my personal profiler with the name of Alice, he took punctuality at utmost importance. He was kind of like my math teacher, only less grumpy and less old but before I could embarrass myself *I didn't work well under pressure, at least 50% of the time* I could feel his arm wrap around my shoulder as his cologne wrapped around me intoxicatingly.
"She was with me. Problem?"
He asked with a strange tone that was slightly cocky and I was shocked slowly coming into realisation as he led me to the back of the class. Staying in this school and at a low profile was not going as well as I expected or planned for that matter. Two, this guy really missed a lot of classes, given that he's already hard enough to miss as it is.
