"Heyโฆ"
"Hiโฆ"
We both smiled and deep inside I was genuinely happy seeing him. He was here and never went away. His face wasn't pale like the last memory I had of him. His eyes shone. And his smile was peaceful. Parkour looked happyโฆ
The alarm buzzed and I woke up catching my head to catch a breathe. Parkour died a week ago and why did he appear in my dream? I never knew him enough to remember him this deep. I got a feeling that there was more to my dream but I didn't want to get into something I couldn't handle.
I said so to myself hoping Parkour's soul would hear that and wander to someone else's dream.
I rushed to the bathroom and took a quick shower and got dressed in a grey t shirt and blue baggy jeans. I picked up my books and my bag to rush out. As I was about to, I saw the yellow card madam Jane gave us yesterday.
I looked at the words I scribbled yesterday and smiled at the small confidence that started to emerge. I was proud of myself

With a paper and a pen there was nothing holding me back. No restrictions no judgement, nothing holding me back at all. I stuffed the card along with the books quickly in my bag and rushed out. The teasing sun rays shone on me as I walked to school.
On my way I met up with Jaya and hugged her. The hug felt short even if it was more than five minutes. As I broke from the hug she smiled at me.
"I love this mood" I said to her
"You matter" she replied
"You always do" I said to her holding her hand in a reassuring way.
So what if my life was a mess? I had a friend whom I could bet my life on that she would be there for me in my ups and downs.
We walked to school and moved in our classes. We had math classes in the morning and Alan sat next to me, as usual.

I wrote the detailed math examples and made sure to note the tips the teacher gave us. I had no time to look at Alan who was obviously staring at me and not paying attention.
Classes went by fast and I decided to have a snack outside the school building. The stone bench was outside under a big lemon tree. I didn't understand why they planted the lemon tree in a school but whoever did, did good.
I sat eating my tuna sandwich looking around at students who were busy chatting with each other. I wondered where Jaya went during the break period. I also noticed nowadays she liked spending most of the time on her phone which was unusual
"Heyโฆ"
"Hiโฆ" I replied back.
I could have sworn I felt it was Parkour's voice but when I looked back it was Alan. With the same calmed smile that Parkour had from my dream.
๐ซ๐๐'๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐.
I moved away to the furthest end of the bench to maintain my personal space. He then chuckled a bit running his hand through his hair.
We both ended up having our snacks quietly without talking. Soon the break time was over and I headed to art class. I thanked the heavens that he wasn't part of art class because his presence was overwhelming considering it has just been recently good to me.
I continued with my painting of the girl under the sun. I was adding the final touches and highlights.
"You are one mean artist" Jaya said to me
"Well, Thank you" I smiled back at her compliment.
"I didn't mean as a compliment but what you painted, you are making your creations suffer"
Oh it wasn't a compliment. I looked at my drawing from how the mighty sun shone at the girl who I drew. I drew her as weak and injured. Nevertheless from all the pain I added another struggle to it. She crumbled to the sand, her sad face maybe she prayed the sun would set and be saved from the scorching heat.
I felt confused as I stared more at my painting and closed it. Soon the classes were over and we packed and went home. My mother was at home sleeping maybe till at night. I did my usual activities when I reached home; washing up and leaving for the bakery.
When I reached at the bakery I removed the freshly baked cupcakes from the oven and laid them at the display tray. Alan was being cheerful and managed to make the customers smile from whatever he said when he gave them the coffee they ordered.
Everytime Angie stop by there for the orders he would make her laugh and give her that damned silly smile.
Maybe be he really changed. Maybe he experienced that life changing moment when he was away and he changed for the better. This side was really adorableโฆ
๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐?
But why does he remind me of Parkour when he smiles, makes the customers smile or make Angie laugh? Why?
I shrugged at the questions that caused uneasy feelings and continued my work. After my shift I decided to take the garbage out from the left overs.
"I love you."
I heard Alan's voice when I stepped out from the backdoor with the garbage.
So it was love that was his life changing experienceโฆEh? but who was the special person that managed to change Alan?
I tried to see who it was but his tall figure managed to hide that person. As I walked closer, I accidentally kicked a tin can. He looked back and saw me.
"Anna!" he said with a glint of mischief in his eyes.
As he turned to face me I saw the one he loved, it was a cat. A chubby cat which had black and orange spots on it's fur.
"Being nosy?" He grinned.
"You wish" I spoke back while looking down.
I kept the garbage in the trash can and hurriedly walked away
When I reached home I was able to find my mother wide awake getting ready for work. She was in kitchen frying sausages.
"How are you?" I asked her.
She looked back at me and gave me a tired smile "still alive! "
I smiled back and muttered under my breathe " always stay alive. "
I then went to my room to freshen up and clean myself. Freshening up was something I looked forward to everyday because it was when I could recollect my thoughts and figure every puzzling thing that crossed my mind like that math homework or ALAN BEING A CAT PERSON.
