The next morning in school...
I stared at Jaya's chair. Empty. Since my last encounter with her, yesterday night, she never reached out. She didn't call like those days, she didn't talk to me like those days, heck! she hasn't been herself at all.
I looked front at Mr Robert, the history teacher. He always smiled and taught with a cheerful mood. He seemed to like what his was doing even if he would get back a boring look from all the students. No one looked forward to history in our class. It wasn't an adventurous lesson like how many books made it look.
As I was about to yawn the class was interrupted again by Mr Jake, the school principal. Since Parkour's news my mind registered Mr Jake's presence in class meant bad news. Real bad news. The teacher looked annoyed because his class was interrupted. He then walked to the teacher steadily his face displaying worry. My heart skipped a beat as he whispered something to the teacher.
When the police walked in I could feel my heart beats racing. My eyes widened and the only thing that my mind was begging that, that it wasn't news about Jaya. Every bit of my body hoped that.
All of a sudden the complete horror took a twist and couldn't I believe my eyes. I slowly pinched myself but everything was real, even the pain from my pinch. I looked at Alan who was sitting at my right side. On his face was the most devious thing I saw. I looked at my left side then to see what was making Alan display his triumphant smile. The police struggled with getting him handcuffed as he made every attempt not to be arrested.
In that moment one would think this boy was a boneless. A pure muscle of destruction.
"Steve! Stop being stubborn. Co-operate and they will go easy on you" Mr Jake tried to calm the panic risen Steve.
"No" Steve's refusal didn't make it easy for him. The police managed to handcuff him in due time.
All the students present were shocked. No one looked away from the scene Steve caused. All the students were shocked and speechless except Alan. Alan smirked devilishly the entire time while watching Steve being handcuffed.
𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘦?
From his looks I knew he had something to do with Steve being jailed. But what was Steve Jailed for. The principal, moments after Steve left wiped off the invisible sweat with a handkerchief which he thought was on his forehead.
"Y'all need a mental check-up" the principal said and momentarily after left the class.
I looked back at Alan and he looked like he won the lottery. He looked satisfied and happy.
"You really hate Steve" I said to him.
He didn't bother to hide it when he realized I saw his face the entire time.
"Hes been a pain in the ass to most of the students, especially those who wants to join basketball team."
"You wanted to Join?"
He said no and looked away.
"Not me but someone else's dream was to join"
"Whos that someone else?"
"I don't know"
I guess he wasn't ready to open up from what he said. No body is ready to open up to people they don't trust or know. Maybe I would have done the same to him or anyone else whom I didn't trust.
"Listen" Alan tapped at my shoulder gently to get my attention.
"Hmmm?"
"bye" he said as he gave me a sad smile.
"What? You are leaving class?"
"No but I won't be here tomorrow or the days to come. This could be my last"
"What the HELL!???" My response came out louder than I expected.
"Do that again and you will be writing a ten page essay about the nazis." Mr Robert said with this daring look plastered on his face. An expression maybe that fueled him to read all those boring history books.
"Sorry sir" Alan quickly responded coating it with his silly smile.

I rolled my eyes at him and we continued the class, obeying Mr Robert's rules the entire class time.
After classes I passed by Jaya's house. Usually her parents were at work and she would be alone in the house. When I got there I saw their door locked. I looked around and peeped through the windows but no one was there.
𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘦? 𝘐 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘰𝘬𝘢𝘺.
I then walked home quickly to get ready for work. The usual relaxing bath and changing to a set of fresh smelling clothes was what kept me going.
During work I noticed Angie staring weirdly at Alan. Most of the time; be it when when she stopped by to pass orders from the customers or when she was picking coffee from Alan. Not the serial killer kind of look but the look you would give the neighbors kid if you saw a kid eating dirt. The worried but I can do a thing look.
As I was concentrating on placing the pastries in the boxes for delivery, Angie came up to me snapping her fingers infront if my eyes.
"Alan gives me the Parkour vibes" she leaned near me to whisper.
"LOL" I said as I rolled my eyes.
"I am serious"
I turned to look at her, she sincerely looked worried and this couldn't be one of her usual hyper inflated theories.
"What makes you say that?"
"He told me this might be the last time seeing him"
I gasped at her words and remembered Alan saying the same thing earlier. I shrugged away his words thinking it was one of his jokes he tried to pull on me.
"I think are you are right, he mentioned something similar earlier in class"
"The kids seems to be onto something lately, maybe drugs!"
"Drugs? " A familiar voice asked.
It was Jaya, she looked like she was from was from a speedy ride. Small strands of her hair stood out in all directions and her eyes bulged out.
𝘋𝘢𝘮𝘯! 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘭𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘑𝘢𝘺𝘢?
"We need to talk" Jaya said as if I was her last hope. I was curious of what she had to say. she better starts explaining...
