Annette paced her room, fuming. She could usually keep her cool when her mom criticized her but she'd had enough and blew up in her face. Annette paused in the middle of her sickenly bright pink room and took a few deep breaths. It's going to be okay...we're leaving tonight. She thought and started to pack a bag.

Time passed slowly when you were planning an escape. Annette had run over the plan with Scott before they had to change. She now stood in front of a mirror in her room and sighed. Matthew had designed her a pink flowy dress. The top was covered in a small shawl and the bottom reached her shins. She'd curled her hair and put it up in some white flowers. She hated dresses and pink! Her backpack full of supplies rested in the corner of the room, begging to be taken away. Grabbing the backpack she walked out of her room to the front entrance. She waited there with the Butler for her brother. When Scott came down he was wearing a nice silver suit and a white porkpie hat with a blue and black feather stuck in it. His face was red as he carried his backpack toward Annette, and she knew why. He was always so flustered when it came to the fashion shows because he looked so handsome and all the girls there went crazy. Scott gave her a small smile, and Spot walked close behind him like he knew what they were about to attempt. As soon as they were both ready the Butler escorted them out to the limo, carrying their backpacks. They'd ordered him to not open them and bring them straight to their changing rooms. He nodded,
"Of course." Was all he said and they all got into the limo. Once the Butler was driving Annette leaned over to Scott.
"Are you ready for this?" She asked. Scott pulled at his collar nervously.
"Yeah, I packed everything you told me to. And what I think I needed to bring." They sat in silence for the rest of the drive and soon they got to the fashion center. It was all lit up for the big show. Their parents were already inside socializing with the other people there. The twins got to their dressing rooms and were told to be ready for the show in 20 minutes. Annette closed the door into the room and wasted no time. She changed into a red hoodie and her favorite jeans. She threw the dress into the trash and swung her backpack over her shoulders. She knew the Butler and their bodyguards were at her door so she quickly glanced around for a window. Thankfully the dressing room was a trailer movie stars would have and be jealous of. There was a hole in the ceiling that she could just reach if she found something to stand on. Ripping the flowers out of her hair and pulling her hair back into a ponytail she proceeded to grab a chair and put it under the hole. Annette's watch read 10 more minutes until the show started, she needed to hurry! One chair wasn't tall enough so she grabbed another and placed it on top of the first. She climbed the two chairs and was able to pull herself through the hole onto the roof of the trailer. She sat on top and rested, pulling herself on top was hard. On glancing over to Scott's trailer she noticed he was already on top, he gave her a thumbs up and they looked to the nearest rooftop. Annette nodded and they climbed up. The two roofs met so they weren't separated anymore. 7 more minutes. The twins ran to the other side of the roof and found a ladder that went back to the ground. Scott climbed down first closely followed by Annette. Once at the bottom Spot rounded the corner of the alleyway they were in, scaring Annette.
"Hey Spot, good boy!" Scott whispered. Spot wagged his tail but didn't bark. Now that they were at ground level again Annette noticed Scott was wearing dark blue jeans and a blue hoodie, she sighed. Good, now no one will recognize us at first glance.
"Come on. Remember we're supposed to get to the forest before sunrise!" She whispered hastily. Scott nodded and they pulled their hoods over their heads. They alternated between walking and jogging on the sidewalks. The show had started according to Annette's watch. They had only a few minutes before the police started to look for them. She whispered this to Scott and he cursed. They continued on their way and heard police sirens in the background. Spot whined, telling them a cruiser was behind them and they ducked into an alleyway and under a dumpster. Who knows what got smeared onto their clothes as they did so. The cruiser stopped and the man got out. He walked into the alleyway and the twins held their breath for two reasons. The feet stopped and the light from the flashlight darted around the alley. It turned off and the feet retreated back into the car. The twins breathed a sigh of relief once the car drove off and they crawled out from under the dumpster. They did this a few times until they were almost to the forest. Annette had seen the forest and they took off toward it, but that's when trouble struck. A police officer had seen them running to the forest and started to chase them. They entered the forest and the officer was right on their tail! He tackled Annette and she cried out. Scott stopped and spun around,
"Let her go!" He yelled. What happened next was sort of a blur, Spot rushed forward and jumped into the air. He landed and he looked like a person?! Except he still had his tail and ears. He lifted the officer off of Annette,
"Go! I'll hold him off!" Spot barked. Annette was so shocked Scott had to drag her behind him. They ran a few miles and stopped from exhaustion. Once Annette caught her breath she said,
"Did you know he could do that?!" Scott shook his head at her and they sat there in silence. The sun had started to rise with Spot finally caught up to them. He was still in a sorta human form. His light gray hair was messy and he had a tan birthmark on his cheek. His eyes were the same two colors from before and he wore jeans and a gray t-shirt. The twins looked at him amazed and he sat down beside them.
"I'm guessing you want to know how I can do this?" He asked and the twins nodded vigorously. Spot toyed with his necklace that had appeared when he became human, it was shaped like a paw print and it sparkled a copper-like color.
"Well let me tell you about the tribes then."
