Chapter 3 - Regrets

I for the first time in my life left my hometown, Bear Woods, the coachman was

the chatty type he kept talking about random stuff most of the way, I heard about

have of what he said, I was lost in my memories, of the first few years of my life, my

parents, my sister, I thought about my future, I thought about my regrets about how

that lord won't have a slow painful death, about that merchant who will get blamed

for the death of the lord, about the pain, I felt in my heart when I killed that bully that

thug, about the nightmares I have of my mothers, corpse my sister's dead body on

that small bed of ours, of the face of my father, when we found him hanging himself, I

thought about that dog who made me a cripple about how such a small insignificant

the incident affected our life, I thought about the days when I thought about ending my

own life, I remembered our house and how it looked getting swallowed by the flames,

the face of the lord turning purple, thinking about my future , at some point in time

the coachman called me, he told me that we have reached the town of Stark lake

where I will try having a fresh start, when we got close to the city gate a guard came

close to us checking our identities to make we are not criminals, then he asked us for

the entrance fee, it was 5 copper coins, which pretty much all I had after paying the

coachman and buying food and proper clothes, since I couldn't steal a lot of money

from the lords, treasury or I would have been suspected because I wouldn't be able to

hide all the money, but I wasn't worried, I know that some way or another I would be

able to live my life with no fear or pain, I slept on the streets for three days till I found

a job at a bookstore as a clerk because I could read and write, four days later news of

lords death reached the town, I wasn't worried I knew they have no evidence against

me, or so I thought, on my tenth day here a knight knocked on the door the owner

welcomed him and asked him some questions I was far from them so I couldn't hear

well but from what I understood things were looking bad for me, they knew about my

mother, they also knew that my body wasn't found in our burned house, I was there

prime suspect I panicked, my first thought was running away, but when I calmed

down a bit, I knew that this was the worst thing I could do, after all, if they knew how I

looked they wouldn't be asking around like that about a young man with white hair

and a pale face, I had dyed my hair back then and used some makeup to make me look

pale, I also made a fake arm, it took me a lot of effort to both make it and make sure

that no one notices it.

Still waiting wasn't an option I had to do something, then I thought about it the

army was recruiting the kingdom of Kirir was always at war, well then I thought the

army it is, but first I need to get rid of all the evidence of me coming here.

I know where the coachman stays when he comes here in an inn called 'power', I

sneaked in at night and slit his throat, after putting the knife in the hand of the

hooker in his arms who was soo drunk that she didn't notice the blood on her face, I

sneaked away again, I went to a bar and I picked a fight with a drunken man which

earned me some bruises and a cut on my lips, now I have a solid alibi, using the

money I stole from the coachman I decided to go to a large city to join the army, I

found a coachman and he agreed on taking me to the city of Fort White Rock, yet I

will have to wait for three days, during which I bought some books, clothes, and food,

I may be a criminal but I like to be an educated one, laughed at my own joke and

judging by the way the coachman is looking at me he must have thought I'm crazy, I

smiled at him and then I got on the coach, and with the sound of the whip the horses

started galloping, towards a new future.
