Have you ever wondered how a simple piano melody can express so many emotions, effortlessly? Without using a single word. The tune may be wordless but isn't meaningless at all. Ever tune has a story behind it , a specific meaning of it's own. A message that is only received by our heart.
It's almost as if our heart knows what's being said through those piano keys. As if it's a tune made by heart to be felt by a heart not analysed by a brain.
The mellifluous sound of ' Music Box ' by Andrew James Johnson filled the living room. The melody in itself is a masterpiece whose meaning is not bounded by words. Evey listener has his/her opinion about it and that's the beauty of it. The sound is the same but people can easily relate it to different stories. It's the same with humans actually. People can have a variety of opinion about the same person.
She lazily walked to her kitchen, clearly not fully awake yet. The taste of toothpaste still lingering in her mouth . At first she thought about taking a bath before eating but her stomach had a mind of it's own and decided to protest. So she planned on taming it first.
She took a minute to just stand there and think about what would be a perfect break fast for the day. After a lot of thinking she decides to make her favorite sugary delicacy, banana pancakes with maple syrup and raspberries. Apparently if it's sweet and sugary it's perfect for her.
This morning she was more timid than usual. Maybe the mere thought of what was going to happen in a few hours was making her nervous. All she needed at the moment was some calming music and and plate full of sweetness.
One after another, the songs kept changing as the minutes passed by. They were all from her very own playlist that consisted of beautiful piano melodies. There are many instruments with beautiful sounds. But the piano attracted her the most. You know, not everytime you have a reason for being drawn to something in particular. There was no reason why she felt that pull towards it too . There are certain things, languages or even people that just attract you for no apparent reason.
After placing the last pancake on top the stack, she drizzled some maple syrup and placed some raspberries on the side. It was looking very delicious, hot pancakes stacked up with maple syrup dripping from the sides and glazing the raspberries. She sat down to eat and took the first bite. Sweetness of pancakes and maple syrup filled her mouth in an instant, followed by the mild taste of bananas. One bite after another and the pancakes were gone in a matter of minutes. Her stomach was full and heart content. Much to her dismay, she had to get up and get ready.
She walked to her bathroom and started taking her clothes off. The weather was not too cold but chilly enough for her skin to get goosebumps by coming in contact with air . She took a good relaxing shower with warm water and dried her body and hair . Then got dressed for the day :

After getting ready , she was off to seminar Hall. By the time she exited her house it was 8: 20 she had to be there by 9. It was good 30min drive to the Hall. Many people were already there, some were a part of audience , some were managers from known institutions who were there to find qualified candidates and some professors to analyse the research. There were other graduates waiting to showcase their own research too.
The first one to on the podium was a guy. His topic was teen psychology which is pretty common. But the amount of effort he put into it was applaudable. The topic she chose was not so common. The students had to research on any question that they always had related to any kind of psychology. And she chose ' What is normal? '.
Silly question right? Everyone knows the answer. Normal means : confronting to a standard ; typical, expected. But do you know what is the criteria for a ' normal ' human being?
Exactly.. Rarely anyone knows what's the criteria for a ' normal ' human being.
A/N ( It's something, I think about a lot too. Commet, what do you think a 'normal' human is like because I'm certainly clueless.)
Sound of loud claps filled the hall as the guy bowed down signalling he was done. As He walked back to his seat , the claps slowly died down . Adrenaline kicked in as soon as her name was announced. Slowly walking towards the podium her hands trembled, body heated with nervousness.
The audience went dead silent and she was the center of everyone's attention. Taking a deep breath, she started speaking :
" What is ' normal ' ? Seems like a silly question doesn't it? Everyone knows that normal means : confronting to a standard, typical in other words. But do you know What is a ' normal ' human being? Some of us may say that a ' normal ' human being is a regular human being without any disorders, disabilities etc. But according to the survey A human being is 'normal' when he/she is neither too great nor too bad. Just average. If someone is highly skilled in a particular field or more than one field that person is above average and no longer termed as normal, he/she is unique. Whereas someone who cannot learn as fast as an average human being or is disabled is termed as abnormal that is below normal....
People with anxiety or depression are not considered normal, they don't have any disability then why? Just because they're not the same. Every person is different, thinks differently acts differently. Some people may think a like in some situation but not always. If everyone is so different..
How can someone categorise them as normal ?
Often people say that they want to be different, they want to be unique, they don't want to be just normal . But what is normal? What is that people don't want to be?
Let me rename it for you. Average. According to people normal is average not too good and not too bad just average. After knowing this you may not feel happy when someone calls you ' normal ' . They're simply calling you ' Average '.
Thank you . Ladies and gentlemen for your precious time. "
A/N ( It is hundred percent original, not copied from google, so some of you may disagree but then again that's a You problem.)
Professors seemed to be impressed and shocked at the same time. It was like her whole demeanor changed once she started speaking. The claps were a loud and clear answer from the audience that they agreed to it.
Even when she sat down, the claps were not stopping. The host silenced the audience and the seminar continued. As soon as it ended , graduates were approached by many managers. She was approached by many high institutions including the one she really wanted to apply to. She accepted the business cards not be rude and assured that she'll e-mail them whether she wants to join or not by the weekend.
Once they left, she was engulfed in a tight hug by someone. And that someone was none other than Amber. She was too excited and happy to notice the fact that Kritika was couldn't breathe.
" OMFG. Girl, that was so cool. Last night you seemed so nervous, I thought you'd mess up but it was the total opposite. "
"Thanks, Amy but can you.. like..
Release me. I can't breathe.. "
"Oh 😅 Sorry. I was too excited. You did so good and I-"
" Slow down Amy. I know you're too happy and excited but don't forget to breathe . "
" Okay. Fine. I won't. But, you still have to treat me 😏"
"Oh, yeah? What makes you think that I will treat you? "
" Oh C'mon, I had to wake up this early and dress up to attend your seminar . This is how you're going to repay me? I'm hurt Kriti. "
" Seriously. Now you're going to pull that guilt card on me? Fine I'll treat you. Let's go to our usual cafe. "
"Yesss. Let's gooo. "
Amber basically dragged her out. The mere mention of food made her really excited. Kritika unlocked her car and soon both of them drove off to their usual cafe. It was a not very fancy but simple and homey cafe . They first discovered it when they were exploring the areas near campus and accidentally got lost then they stumbled upon this cafe.
Kritika parked the car, unfastened the seatbelt and got off. She locked the car as Amber got off and they both walked near the cafe.
They opened the door...
Entred the cafe..
That's when Her eyes met with His...
