Chapter 3 - 3. Back in Time

10 years....

It had been 10 years, since she last saw those chocolate brown orbs. Still holding a soft, loving and adoring look in them. He had changed a lot. His soft features were now more defined. His fairly thin frame was now well built yet lean. But no matter how much he had changed something in him still screamed home to her. Something about his presence still filled her heart with warmth. They both changed a lot during those 10 years, met a lot of people, been through a lot but still..... The place they had reserved for the other was never taken by anyone.

They were looking at each other in silence as if looking into the other's soul through their eyes. He got up from where he was sitting, walking towards her, still not breaking the eye contact. Her heart beats speeding up with each step he took .

In a Royal Blue shirt, and black dress pants, sleeves rolled up, he looked really good. She was the first to break the eye contact and look down. Not being able to hold his gaze for long.

With a soft smile on his face , he held her lightly wrapping a hand on her shoulder and other held her head near his chest. She didn't pull back and wrapped her hands around his waist instead. She could hear the rapid movement of his heart.

After a while She pulled away a little, just enough to look at him and said

" I'm Home ."

They both chuckled at that then he replied

" Welcome Home, My lady. "

Amber witnessed everything. Still looking at them with a smile on her face. She knew all the things that had happened between them even though she had never seen him in real life but Kritika told her everything.

So..

Who is he?

It is a little complicated..

How about I tell you everything from the beginning?

Flashback 10 years ago...

On a Sunday afternoon, Kritika was lying down on her bed , listening to music while reading wattpad. Her final term exams had recently ended. That means she had nothing to do for the whole March month.

Out of countless things she could have done , she was doing this. Only a week had passed after her last exam and this is all she did the whole week. Wake up near afternoon, eat, read wattpad or watch YouTube the rest of the day, eat again, and go to sleep after 12.

To say that her mother was not pleased with her daily routine would be an understatement. Kritika did everything except studying and her mom wasn't having it. Her mom didn't want to force her to do something , because she knew Kritika would most likely throw a tantrum in front of her dad and he'll give in easily.

So she came with the idea of getting her a tutor and a math tutor on top of it. Since Kritika was about to start her 10th class which was very important even her dad wouldn't be able to save her this time.

Kritika was in her room still clueless about everything, when she heard the faint sound of someone calling her name. She took off one of her earbuds to be able to hear clearly. Her was calling her , so she paused the music took off her earbuds and went to the living room. As soon as she walked in , she knew something was wrong. Because, one - her mom was seated on the couch with her hands placed on her lap and two - she wasn't watching the TV or using her phone. Her mom signalled her to sit in front of her .

As she sat down her mom cleared her throat and began speaking.

" As you already know. These past days, you have done nothing productive and have been lazing around. You're about to start your 10th class in less than a month and still you don't study even a little bit. I figured, you wouldn't change your habits so I have assigned a maths tutor for you. He's a university student. He will be here tomorrow morning at 10. So be prepared. "

Kritika was looking at her with wide eyes, clearly shocked that she had to wake up early to study maths and without her will.

" Mom, you can't do this. It's only been a week since my last exam. I don't wanna study maths now. " Her whining didn't seem to affect her mother. She got up and left the living room, leaving Kritika there .

Kritika :

* Oh Hell, No. I don't want to study maths on my holidays. This is the only time I don't have any school and homework 😭. Even Dad won't help me this time. That only leaves me with one option. I'll have to attend it. If I scare the tutor away, My mom will beat my ass and get me another one so it won't work. Times like these make me think what sins have I committed in my past life to deserve this. Ugh. I hate this. *

When she was about to go back to her room, her brother entred the living room and turned on the TV

" What happened, why are you looking so pissed. I haven't done anything to piss you off yet. "

She sighed.

" Mom got me a math tutor and he will come here tomorrow at 10."

He looked at her wide eyed and started laughing his ass off. He knew how much she hated maths .

" Sucks to be you. That's what you get for lazing around the whole day "

She scoffed at that and went back to her room . She turned off the lights, closed the door and sat to read Wattpad while listening to music again. She wanted to tell someone about all this, just rant about everything but knowing no one would actually care, she didn't. This was the reason, she spent most of her time alone. Some people don't notice the lack of interest in the person they're talking to and just keep speaking. But she wasn't one of them. She knew when someone was not attentive.

Talking to someone who isn't listening to you in the first place was a waste of time for her. So she wrote it all down when it was too much but kept most of it in. There was this unavoidable void that she was constantly trying to fill but failing miserably. This emptiness caused her to cry herself to sleep somedays. Distracting herself with music and keeping herself busy helped her.

Even though she wasn't looking forward to her tutoring session. She knew, she had to face it. She wasn't able to concentrate on reading, so she turned her phone off and closed her eyes listening to the soft music.

Everything happens for a reason, each and every person you meet has something to do with you or teach you. It's just that you don't realise it most of the time...
