I gave my maid a look of warning as she tried to dress me. "That is only necessary with ballgowns. Do not try to dress me. In fact, have the day off. You work so hard already." She smiled and curtseyed before running out of the room in happiness. I put my lavender dress on and looked myself in the mirror. My maid had already done my hair up in two buns with braids running up the back of my head and getting pulled into the buns. I thought it looked good. I did some blue eyeshadow before removing it. I couldn't do my own makeup. I sighed and turned off the light in my room before walking out and to my mother's office. As I walked an advisor and a servant started following me. The servant held a plate of breakfast for me. I put my hand up to him shaking my head. He didn't understand. He followed me all the way into the office and set the plate in front of me before exiting. I moved the plate to a side table and looked up to my advisor. She looked down at me with a raised eyebrow before starting with the list of things we had to address today.
After about 2:30 I was done and able to go see Edward come home from school. It was his first school year, as he had been homeschooled up until now. He argued with me about it for at least an hour. But I was in charge and I wanted him to have a semi normal life. I wish I had been able to go to school myself. Zeno walked in the door first and shook his head at me, silently warning me that I was in for a fight. The next person to walk in the door was not who I expected. The Duchess walked in, holding the Duke's arm. They bowed and curtseyed to me and I curtseyed as a greeting. Edward walked in and immediately tried to run up the stairs. I turned to him slightly. "Prince Edward you must address the guests." He didn't even turn around. He just responded with "'Sup, I'm going to my room now." The duke looked horrified. I sighed and apologized to them then asked what the purpose of their visit was.
"Well my dear, we came to ask if you have found a suitor yet. Of course a prince would be best but whoever you choose I suppose." Duchess Kairi smiled at me. I shook my head with a tight lipped smile. "I'm sorry but I haven't had the time yet. Between Edward and the advisors constantly following me..." I trailed off and she nodded with a frown. "I understand dear, I would just like to know that you will search eventually." "I will." She gave me a hug and the duke had me go over my recent choices with the kingdom. They left at 5:30, just early enough to let me get to dinner. I went into the kitchen, knowing that they were cooking for Edward but not me, and I started cooking my own dinner. I smiled at the staff as I left the kitchen with my food and went to my room. Saturday was going to be the first day I would eat food made by kitchen staff in 10 years. I hope the luncheon goes well. I sighed and changed into my pajamas before trying, but failing, at going to sleep.
