Chapter 19 - Chapter Nineteen

Lightning arced around the Arks as they sped through the chaotic space between worlds. The speed wasn't a result of magic, but rather a result of the chaotic space rejecting the presence of matter. The strong reaction caused the Arks to move at unimaginable speeds as they were rejected and pushed out of the chaotic space.

In a short few seconds, a rip in space tore open ahead of the fleet of Arks, drawing them toward it. That was their exit out of the chaotic space. If they had to stay any longer, they would most likely be ripped to shreds. In a split second, the fleet stretched thin, before disappearing from within the chaotic space and reappearing within a normal world. Behind them, the tear in space shook slightly before shrinking and disappearing, as though it was never there in the first place.

The Arks descended, settling on the rocky earth beneath them as mages disembarked to make any repairs necessary to the Arks that suffered damage within the chaotic space. Chatter filled the air as numerous people in white and gold armor and robes roamed about, crawling over the Arks in search of any damage.

Eren just watched all this quietly from within his room on one of the Arks. His mind seemed distant as he stared out the circular window. In the depths on his mind, a scene on a different Ark was playing out. This scene showed Kai walking about within the Ark where his people were, chatting and going about as usual. He wasn't acting in a way that would seem suspicious. Eren shook his head before making the illusory screen disappear. When they arrived at the training camp, he would make further arrangements concerning Kai and the mystery surrounding him.

...

Several days later.

By the mountain side was a large bustling city. Carriages and wagons pulled by various types of beasts could be seen all around the wide street. Various intelligent races were up and about, going about their daily lives as usual.

High above the outskirts of this busy city, a rip in space wove unsteadily, slowly expanding until it reached a height and width of several dozen meters. From within this tear, a mid-sized ship emerged, closely followed by several others. On the exterior of these normally brown ships, various scorch marks adorned their bodies. On some, entire chunks of their hull were torn out. Luckily, they were extremely thick and durable or else the damage would be even worse. These were the Arks that carried the now ship bound Selection caravan.

From within one of the Arks, Kai and Reinhard stood by a round window, staring excitedly down below them. Although there were large cities on the minor world they knew as home, they never had the chance to visit it, not to mention one of the main cities of the Imperial Army on a major world. From up high, they could see the many inhabitants of the city going about their day. Some stopped to look at the large ships that were hovering outside the city, pointing and discussing between themselves.

Within the main army barracks of the city, a large individual calmly strode out of the building where his living quarters were. He had to tilt slightly to pass through the door that led outside. As a member of the Titan race, he stood at the height of roughly 3 meters, considered huge, even among his kind.

High General Adolf's red hair whipped in the slight breeze as he looked up at the floating Arks. "You couldn't do without making a flashy entrance, huh?" He smirked and shook his head. Adolf gathered up several Grandmaster mages and martial artists before taking them the the city's gates to wait for the arrival of Rudolf.

The solid thuds of their armored feet resounded through the city streets as they marched in sync toward the gates. Carriages and wagons parted to make way for the procession with a Titan at the forefront. An oppressive Lord class aura rolled off his shoulders in waves as he walked past, drawing the attention of all, while also making them cower back in fear out of instinct.

The flying ships slowly descended before the procession of soldiers. Mages and martial artists poured out of the ships in an orderly fashion. Behind them were an odd, disorderly bunch of people numbering about seventy in total. These were the people who had passed the selection in various regions that the Army had passed through. They chattered, whispering and pointing as they saw Adolf at the head of the procession that had come to welcome their arrival. The mild oppressive aura that had enveloped the area spread out in an instant, covering the entire plain where they stood. This aura caused their very souls to quiver at the might it showed.

An aura of might bloomed behind them, seemingly responding to the oppressive one before them. These auras gave the world a slight tint of color, different from usual. From ahead, a red aura flooded their senses and from behind, a dark gold tint bloomed, pushing against the red.

The normal villagers were pressed between this two oppressive auras that were competing, completely suppressed to the point that some of them outright collapsed. Those with a stronger will managed to stand on twitching legs, drenched in their col sweat.

Abruptly, both auras vanished into thin air, leaving the twitching mass of people confused. Rudolf walked out of the ship that was at the very behind of the formation with Eren right behind him, his white and gold armor catching the bright sun of the afternoon. Adolf strode forward as well, his armor standing out, looking even more grand and eye catching than Rudolf's armor. The both of them stopped opposite each other, short and huge, differing auras clashing against each other. The world seemed to freeze at this moment, focusing on the both of them as they stood off against each other.

"Adolf."

"Rudolf."
