"Thank you for walking out to the parking lot with me," I said to Conner as we headed back inside the building. "Somehow, I knew that Priscilla would be up to something."
Conner nodded, a crease forming between his eyes. "Any time," he said, giving me a kind smile. "So, will you let me take you out to dinner tonight? It's getting late and I'm getting hungry—"
"Not tonight," I said, returning the smile. "But definitely some other time."
He nodded. "Okay. That works." He held the elevator door open for me and then walked in behind me. "May I ask you a question?"
I nodded. "Yeah. Sure."
A crease formed between his eyes. "Why was that written on your car?"
I shook my head. "Well, I think that should be a conversation for another time."
He tilted his head as he studied me. "Okay." When the door opened, he added, "I'm here, should you want to talk."
