"Why are you letting her go?"
Gregory was pale, "Sir, are you okay?"
"I am fine, thanks, Joe. Can you get me in contact with our I.T.?"
"Yes, sir, I can do that."
"I have to get going."
"Sir, we are busy in the middle of an investigation."
"You will be fine, officer Lance. You have seen me do this multiple times before. Just make sure to bag everything."
"You aren't bagging anything. We are taking over the crime scene. You boys can go make yourself useful by keeping the crowd out."
The FBI agent Ross flipped open his wallet.
"This is our scene."
"We were here first."
"Officer, you are out of the jurisdiction. We have been trying to nail this syndicate for many years. Please leave all evidence you have over there. Officer Gregory, where is the driver of that vehicle?"
"We let her go."
Agent Ross became red in his face, "you let the driver of that motor vehicle go?"
"Yes, it was not her fault."
"We bloody have three bodies here, and looking by the angles of these shots, it's a professional. Who is your commanding officer?"
A tall guy with a grey suit in his mid-forties came walking up to them, "agent Ross, fancy seeing you here. What are you doing on my crime scene?"
"Are you forgetting who you are speaking to, John? Your idiot of a cop let a suspect go? Saying she was innocent? What bullshit is that?"
John looked at officer Gregory, "my guy knows what he is doing, and I'm sure he has all the details."
"This investigation is now handed to us, John. You and your boys better pack up your things and leave this scene. Do we understand each other?"
"No, we don't, 'cause as I have previously said, we were here first."
"I don't have time for this bullshit." Agent Ross pulled out his phone, getting their chief commander on the line.
"Chief Commander Charles, it's been a while. I am having a hard time with a commanding officer. He refused to let us take over the scene."
"Yes, please hold."
Agent Ross handed the phone to John. "What the hell are you doing? Why not just give them the bloody scene? I don't want the district up my ass, especially not a Monday morning."
"But Chief officer, my guys were the first to arrive on the scene."
"I don't care. Clear up and get off the scene because you are way out of your jurisdiction. Do you understand me?"
"Yes, I do, Sir." John gave the phone back to agent Ross, as agent Ross and his team mated at them.
"Let's go, Gregory. Get the officers to clear out."
"Before you go, tell your boy I want all the details emailed to me from the suspect before 7 am, or he will have more than just interpolate up his ass. We all know how that plays out."
Gregory's phone rang an unknown number. He stepped away from the other officers and agents. "You piece of shit, you got what you wanted."
"Gregory, relax." said the deep voice, "breath, we got this under control. Thanks to you, your family gets to live another day."
"What is life worth living when im sitting without a job because of what I have done?"
"Life, my friend, is a gift we should embrace, not push away. Live your days, your moments to the fullest don't let this obstacle blindside you." Said the unknown caller.
"Look at agent Ross and his fellow teammates. They are gloating, but let's see who floats after this."
"After what? What are you going to do?"
"Three, two, one, and kaboom."
There was an explosion killing two FBI agents. Everyone ran for cover, including officer Gregory. "Let's see who is gloating now that the three bodies are blown into ashes, and all evidence is gone."
"What do you want? Why are you doing this?"
Agent Ross called the bomb squad, hiding behind the swat van.
"Two agents are down, dammit. Everyone clears out now."
People ran for cover. Gregory was on the phone, breathing heavily, "please stop. I beg you."
"I love humanity. We gloat, smile, and think we can dominate anything at any time. It was bullies like you, Gregory, thats what makes us special."
Gregory saw the agent falling over to the ground. The agent was shot in the neck, losing alot of blood.
"We have a sniper. Everyone run for cover."
"These imbeciles think they can hide." Gregory heard a gun being reloaded to what sounded like a rifle.
The cops and swat were trying to see where the shots were coming from, as agent Ross was distressed and saw his guys falling over one for one. "It's coming from the top of the roof," said a swat member. The teams went around and up a building, where they found a rifle controlled by a remote. The swat team of five picks up the rifle when an explosion on the roof kills all five swat members.
"We have to get out of here," they cleared the area as Gregory sat with his back against the police car.
"My favorite time of the year is when those fireworks go off. No matter how many go off, people think it's fireworks."
"Please stop this. We don't want innocent civilians getting hurt."
"Now you understand why you were brought here because you care and are passionate about your job."
"We are willing to recruit you as our eyes and ears in all operations, don't worry about your chief commander. He will have respect for you."
"I don't care about respect. I care about the people."
"I know you do, and you carry integrity. You have a wonderful family. Who would you put first lives of people you do not know or your family?"
Gregory knew better than to answer, "Good to know. Keep your phone on," the call hung up. Agent Ross ran over to Gregory and asked, "who is doing all this?"
"You just said you have been on this case for a few years, and now you are asking me?"
"Let's clear out. We will get more information from the suspects. Keep that report ready for me. We will be going full force."
"What report? I don't have a report. Your agent took my report, and as you can see, they have blown up."
"Dammit, do you have any other information on them?"
Gregory's car dash cam was on, and it had the faces of the suspects. "Nevermind, we will pull the footage from the dashcam of your vehicle. It uploads straight to the server. Whoever did this, we will put an end to it."
Agent Ross then turned and looked at Gregory suspiciously, "I noticed while all this was happening, you were on a call during te explosion?"
"Yes, I was, and what's your point?" Gregory said.
Agent Ross could analyze people by watching their responses, time to respond, eyes twitches, and body movements.
"I am going to ask you once, were you on a call with the person who did all this?"
Gregory has studied agent Ross and knew what he was capable of.
Agent Ross made direct eye contact when asking a question, agent Ross would blink, and the suspect or victim would do the same. If they did the same, they would know the victim or suspect was telling him what he wanted to hear, which would be a lie.
"No, if you check my records, you would see I have a clean record, and I do everything by the book, so I have nothing to hide?"
Without giving Gregory time to think, agent Ross said, "who called you?"
Officer Gregory delayed the answer by two seconds, "my wife, who else would call." Also, a strategy agent Ross would use to know if someone is lying is when a question he asks has a delay, and the person covers that delay by creating a lie and building up that lie to where they think they have covered themselves.
"Would you mind handing me your phone?"
Agent Ross knew it would be an unknown number, but he also checked the duration of that call and how many times it called, then tapped into his wife's phone to check outgoing calls.
"I do mind, yes."
"You know I can tap into your phone and check your records?"
"Without my consent, it would be an invasion of privacy. You need a letter from the court to get that record."
"That wouldn't be a problem since you let our primary suspect off the hook. How will that look on your records?"
"I have nothing to hide, and you are welcome to pull whatever records you want ."
Agent Ross stood up, "in that case, I will see you sooner than you think."
"Yes, we will see each other soon."
Gregory felt nervous, knowing that the information agent Ross wanted was at his disposal.
Agent Ross walked over to the van and radioed in, looking at Gregory.
Gregory's phone rang from his wife, "Honey, are you okay?"
"Yes, I am fine, just relieved you are okay."
"I heard about the bombing downtown, I have been trying to get hold of you, but it kept saying call busy. Hold on, here's an incoming call from an unknown number."
Before he could answer, his wife had put him on hold. Officer Gregory looked over at agent Ross who was chewing and had a notepad in his hand, taking down notes whiles looking over at Officer Gregory.
