Angela dragged Nicole to the car and drove off; she was happy Nicole was alive
"There is something you must know, Angela."
"What is it, Nicole?"
"Me being missing is far beyond you or me; Jack is in danger."
"What do you mean he is in danger?"
Nicole looked down. "Nicole, what are you talking about?"
I wish I could tell you in words, but I was taken for a reason, they are out to get you and Jack, and I was the closest you have.
Angela frowned, "Close; you are not making sense; what are they after."
"That night, I got taken; it was not Jack's fault."
"But Jack admitted to dumbing you in the river."
"Well, he didn't. We found out that they were after us that evening; at the fire, we were dancing, and I was snatched by some guys wearing masks. Jack got away."
"So why didn't Jack tell me the truth." Angela looked into her rearview mirror. There was a black Mercedes behind her.
"We were protecting you from the truth."
What truth? Angela had turned right onto a road, and the Mercedes also turned right.
"Angela, your mom made some bad enemies. She was an undercover CIA operative; your dad is not your dad."
"That I know." The Mercedes picked up speed. Angela accelerated, "Angela, what is happening?"Nicole panicked, "it will be okay, do me a favor, lay down on the back seat; Nicole laid down; the Mercedes caught up, and the windows rolled down; a guy with a gun stretched his arm through the window and fired at the car, "What the hell do these assholes want Nicole screamed, as the glass of the car window broke covering her ears.
Angela bumped into the Mercedes as the gun fell out his handed; she picked up speed, and the car swerved; Angela tried her best to keep calm; there was a short exit on the road, Angela picked up speed and made a sharp turn, as she braked the car spin in a circle she took a deep breath in closing her eyes, the car stopped as facing the exit as she opens her eyes heard the Mercedes she trapped the gas.
It was a sharp 90 degrees as the driver attempted to take the then he clashed into the poll as smoke came out of the engine; Angela looked up in the rearview mirror and felt relieved as she picked up speed until the Mercedes was out of site.
Damn, we did it, girl; Nicole sat up looking around. Her heart was racing, and so was Angelas as Angela pulled off. Nearby tunnel.
"What are you doing? You can't stop now."
"Well, you going tell me everything."
"Do you think I know everything? Why else would I be in this mess? If I knew being involved with your brother would make me a target, would I put myself in this situation? All I do know is we are a monopoly in this game."
"How did you find out my mom is a CIA, and why should I believe you?"
"Your mom left a paper in the cabinet by a bowl, and Jack read it."
"What did the paper say?"
"Nicole shrugged her shoulders; all I know is what your brother told me."
So all this time, my life was a lie?
"No, Angela, your mom protected you from the truth; that paper reveals who is your real dad."
"My real dad?"
Nicole Nod her head "can we get going now?"
Angela started the car.
"Jack, are you going to be mad at me all day?"
"I am not mad at you, Claire."
"Good, then let's have breakfast?"
"I am kind of not hungry."
Claire got dressed, "So, what do you have planned for today?"
Jack never responded.
Claire walked over to the shower and saw him in the shower. She stood there watching him as the water ran down his body. "He well built." she thought to herself. "Jack, I am heading out."
Claire got dressed and left the house. When coming outside, she noticed two unfamiliar cars parked across the street.
She pretended not to notice and turned to the mailbox; she went back inside; Claire, is that you? "Yes, it is me?" Claire picked up her phone and texted the guy she had seen last night. "Hey, why are two cars parked opposite the street? Is it our people?"
Her phone rang; it was from the same guy as last night.
"Hey, I saw your text; it's not from us."
"Are you sure? Because it's two black Mercedes Benz."
"Can you see the number plate?"
"No, I can't. Do you think it could be the cops?"
"Cops? It could be, but do let him out of your site; the orders are to keep him alive."
"Okay, but can you send it back up just in case it's not cops?"
"I will be sending a black pickup."
Claire went over to her handbag, removed her gun, and placed it in the back of her jean.
"I thought you said you were heading out?"
"I was, yes, but the news said we are expecting a storm, so we should stay indoors."
"With this weather, it's bright and sunny; come on."
Claire stared at Jack; she looked so innocent; she looked like a barbie doll with her long blonde hair and bright blue eyes, and tanned skin.
"Jack, please do this one thing I ask of you."
Jack picked up an apple and bit into it, "so what do you want to do today? I mean, it's Saturday, and as you say, there is a storm?"
"How about a movie."
Jack smiled, "movie and popcorn?"
"Yeah, and il make us lunch."
"You making lunch? That's sweet of you."
She can feel the fear in her chest waiting to take over. Perhaps it only wants to protect me, she thought, but there isn't any danger. It sat there like an angry ball, propelling her towards an anxiety she didn't need. The air is sweet, the weather is fine, there are birds in the sky, and she can hear water not far away.
She should be on her way home. Her family must be worried, or maybe not since they didn't care much about what she did with their busy lives, but today she just wanted to smell the spring flowers and take the chance to get to know Jack better.
There's something about him that evaporates her fear. Maybe it's how he dresses, his confidence; his life became more and more precious to her the more she felt secure around him; I'm not sure, she thought to herself, but let's give it today as her body has already begun to relax.
Jack walked over to the window; he was wearing a black vest and black jeans, " Are you sure about the weather?" He repeated.
" I am sure." Claire said as he walked over to the sofa, "hey have you noticed those black Mercedes over the street? They have been parked there since we woke up."
Claire walked up to him, letting out a smile; you worry too much as she handed him coffee.
"Should t you at least go home to greet your family?"
"I called them this morning; I am good."
Claire received a text, "The pick up is outside; they will be keeping a close eye on those two cars' number plates; we ran it not on the database; it could be the feds?"
Claire replied, "Do you think it's the CIA?"
"Stay close, keep out of eyesight, and make sure he doesn't go anywhere until we can confirm who this is."
Claire put the phone on the table and sat next to Jack; they looked at the phone, "I saw Marcus message you this morning. Are you guys patching up?"
Claire was speechless, unsure what to answer, "Marcus, oh; no, he texted on behalf of Max; Max asked him to send me a text."
"Marcus and Max, friends now?"
Claire turned and looked at Jack; I am not sure what they are; all I know is that Max asked him to text me."
Jack nodded, "why don't we cut the bullshit you with Max, and you kissed me?"
"I am sorry if I offended you by kissing you. It just happened."
"So this and we are just happening. Is that what you are telling me?"
"No, jack, it's complicated."
"What's complicated is being honest for once and telling me exactly what you want."
"I want." Claire Paused, "I want you, Jack."
"So let me get this straight. First, you like Marcus, then you compare me to Marcus while you are with Max, and now you like me?"
Shhh, quiet; Claire removed her gun from the back of her Jean, "do you hear that?"
"Hear what, and where do you get that gun?"
Claire removed her shoes and walked to the back, "there is someone on the roof; Jack removed his gun, and quietly walked up the staircase, "I do hear now." He could hear someone walking on the roof. He pointed his gun to the roof, Claire followed him, and touched his arm, " lower your gun, else we will be sleeping with holes in the roof." Jack lowered when the front door suddenly opened.
Both ran down the staircase.
