It's been about a month and a lot has changed. I've gained like seven pounds and I've started wearing Danny's shirts and hoodies to cover up. He's been a bit overprotective and obsessing over my health and safety. I love him for it, but it's starting to get on my nerves.
"Baby, I love you but you're driving me insane," I tell him, grabbing his face with both of my hands and looking directly into his eyes.
"I just don't want anything to happen to you or the babies," he tells me with a pout.
I laugh and kiss him saying, "We're fine."
We walk into the doctor's office for my monthly checkup. I get signed in and we wait to be called back, talking about plans for the next few weeks.
"We will have to tell everyone soon you know," he tells me.
"Ugh, I know. Don't remind me," I groan.
I'm scared to tell our friends and family. I don't want them to think differently of me. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry, which is exactly what I start to do.
"What's wrong," Danny says in a soothing tone when I begin to sob. He's gotten used to my constant mood swings and has just learned to be calm in the situation.
"I'm just scared to tell everyone," I tell him.
"Oh baby, it's gonna be okay. I'm scared too, but we'll get through this," he says, kissing the top of my head.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
The nurse finally calls us back and takes all of my vitals and whatnot before Doctor Stringer finally comes in.
"How are mom and the babies," she asks as she takes a seat in front of the computer to take notes.
"We're doing good, I'm still a bit nauseous and I've been peeing a lot because they're always on my freaking bladder. I've also been craving fries and sour patch kids," I tell her.
She types that all in and then says, "it looks like you've gained about nine pounds and your blood pressure is a little high, so we're gonna have to keep a close eye on that. Have you had any concerning problems?"
"Not much other than feeling a bit sluggish," I tell her.
"That's to be expected. If something concerning comes up, please call the office," she says. "Now let's have a look at the babies."
I lay back and pull up my hoodie, well Danny's hoodie. She squirts the jelly on the wand and rubs it around my belly. I see my babies on the screen and my eyes fill with tears.
"Those are our babies," I say to Danny. When he doesn't say anything, I turn toward him and see that he has tears rolling down his cheeks and he's transfixed on the monitor.
I grab his hand and give it a tight squeeze. "I love you so much," I tell him, bringing his hand up to my lips to give it a kiss.
"I love you more," he says, leaning in to kiss my forehead.
"That's our little peanut and bean," I say in awe. I gave them that nickname the first time we got to see them. They looked like a bean and a peanut.
"When will we be able to find out the sexes of the babies," Danny asks Doctor Stringer.
"We should be able to determine the sexes around week six, but they may be stubborn and not want to share," she tells us with a laugh.
"You better show us the goods my little ones," I say, talking to my belly.
They both laugh and we finish up with the appointment. We walk out while staring at the ultrasound pictures.
"Let's head to Ariel's, everyone should be there," I tell Danny when we make it to his car.
"Yes ma'am," he says, leaning over to give me a short, but sweet kiss.
When we get there, everyone is hanging out in the kitchen laughing and talking.
"Hey guys," Jerrico says when he sees us.
"Hey! Are y'all eating anything good," I ask, immediately walking over to the food. They got Hawaiian pizza and I take a slice. I take a bite and moan at the taste.
"Wow, I did not think someone could make eating food so sexual," Brian opens his mouth and receives a punch in response from his sister.
"Idiot," she mutters.
"Anyway, how was your morning," Ariel asks.
"Pretty good, I had a doctor's appointment and we just hung out," I tell them, not actually lying.
I finish my pizza and then have to pee. I run upstairs to the bathroom and do my business. I look at the time on my phone and realize that it's time for me to take my prenatal vitamins.
"Can someone bring me my bag," I yell down the stairs, too lazy to go down.
I wait and then Ariel and Beth finally make it up the stairs and come into her room.
They stare at me in shock and I get nervous.
"What's wrong," I ask with apprehension.
"You're pregnant," Beth asks, holding up the ultrasound picture from today.
"Umm, uh, umm," I stutter before finally saying, "Yeah, I am."
They're silent before yelling, "And you didn't tell us?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We're all downstairs in Ariel's living room talking.
"Why didn't you guys just tell us," Brian asked.
"We didn't know how to and we were scared of your reactions," I say, grabbing Danny's hand and squeezing the death out of it.
He winces and I let go saying, "Sorry."
"You know we wouldn't have judged. We're your best friends and we love you guys," Ariel says, coming to my other side to pull me into a hug.
"Yeah, what she said," Beth said, coming over and pushing Danny out of the way to sit next to me.
"Wow, thanks, Beth, not like I was sitting there or anything," he says sarcastically and moving over the sit next to Jerrico.
"We're here for you guys," Brian says and everyone nods in agreement.
I start crying and say, "I love you guys."
"We love you too," Beth says, hugging me tighter.
"So, do you know what you're having yet," Ariel asks in excitement.
"Not yet, we find out the sexes around week sixteen and she's only nine weeks," Danny tells them.
"Wait! Sexes, as in more than one," Jerrico says, catching what Danny says.
"Yeah, we're having twins," I say with a big smile on my face.
The girls squeal in excitement and the guys tell us how happy they are for us. We talk about the pregnancy while everyone takes turns rubbing on my stomach.
