Let's return to ten days ago when Leo sat down to eat dinner with the longtime servants of his family. It would turn out to be their last dinner in the capital, or even the entire country of Grayleon for that matter. As evident by the discussion being taking place, they all knew what was going to happen a few days from this one.
It was after a few seconds of silence when Leo finally started speaking, albeit in a solemn manner.
"Grandma Maggie, I'm going to do it, I'm getting revenge for my family."This statement from Leo caused Grandma Maggie to pause for just a second before she eventually continued to share out the food at the table, as she was doing so, she responded in a calm manner with a simple and rather short question.
"Why?"
This almost caused Leo to become upset, she knew why! He thought to himself.
"What do you mean why? That bastard had my parents killed! And it was his same family that caused my grandfather to die a dog's death!! All because-.."
Before he could finish his statement Grandma Maggie snapped at him
"Leonel! That's enough, you know better than to raise your voice at my table." Pausing to allow Leo to calm down, Grandma Maggie then resumed speaking.
"I know the history of your family a lot better than you do Leo, I've been serving it since before you were born, but why do you want to follow in the footsteps of your father and throw your life away? If you attempt to kill the councilman, you will die for no reason. So why?" Seemingly getting emotional as she asked this to Leo
Having visibly calmed down, and regained his composure by taking a deep breath, Leo answered by saying,
"It is something I decided, and I plan on following through with it, but don't worry Grandma Maggie you and gramps over here didn't help to raise a fool. I have a plan."
This caused the old woman to raise an eyebrow towards the young man sitting in front of her, and Gramps who's been quietly observing this whole time, to sit up in his chair and pay attention. Then Leo began laying his plan out, and when they didn't understand something the two older folks interjected and asked questions, which Leo happily answered.
The discussion went something like this
Leo first made it very clear that his plan would result in the death of councilman Ron Campbell. This was something that both of his family servants argued against because they both agreed the act of taking someone's life should never be the answer, regardless of the reasons. They did their best to stress this point to him and made sure he understood the gravity of the decision he's trying to make. Although Leo listened to all their concerns regarding the matter he was firm in his decision, and they couldn't do anything to change it, which brought them to the next topic, how was he going to kill the councilman? At this point, Leo revealed to them a secret his father left him before he died. It was the fact that many years ago when Leo was just a baby, his parents once helped a young lady who they happened to find in an alley in the capital slowly dying, from what appeared to be many stab wounds. They tried to bring her to a clinic in the capital, but right up until her consciousness faded away she kept refusing to go, his parents then took it upon themselves to bring her home instead and help nurse her back to health. Now while this would be out of the question for most people, these were the type of people Leo's parents were. This event of his parents helping that young lady wasn't a secret to the old people listening to Leo though, they both remembered when this happened, so even though they were confused about where Leo was going with this, they kept on listening. Leo then let them know that after his parents took care of her for almost a year, she revealed to them that she was an assassin and that was how she suffered her injuries. This came as a shock to his parents at the time and now that same shock was present in his servants' eyes, but that wasn't all. After revealing she was an assassin she promised to one day return the favor by using her particular set of skills if they ever needed it, as a way to repay their kindness, and although his parents at the time politely declined, she still left the information on a way to always get in contact with her. The two old servants, although still shocked from this news, immediately realized the problem with what Leo was saying, it's been over a decade since that happened, she could be dead or not even in Grayleon anymore. Leo then gave another shock, which was that he had already made contact with her. The information she left all those years ago regarding how to contact her, was to ask for a person named Tanner in a bar by the called Dry Mugs in a town near the border. Leo sent off a letter to that bar about a year ago, and he received the response he was hoping for. She was still alive and active, but most importantly she was willing to return the favor she promised all those years ago even though his parents have long passed away. He also let her know that he'd be visiting the bar after he graduated from school to let her know the details of his request. As if all this news wasn't enough of a shock already to his family servants, he gave them one more. He let them know that he'd be leaving Grayleon, and he'd planned to be gone for quite a long time at that.
