Chapter 1 - Short story 1 "HIM AND HER"

The night was dark and cold, the only light was illuminated by the twinkling stars and the beautiful moon.

The sight was beautiful. It was her safe haven, she felt peace whenever she stargazed. She came here often whenever she wanted to run away from the hustle of her life. It was her escape, her secret kingdom.

The cliff was a little away from the city, surrounded by thick trees hiding from the outside cruel world. You can still see the city lights from here.

She can feel the cold grass beneath her, the cold was chilling, but her heart was feeling the warmth she never felt before.

"Are you okay?" she asked him, she knew something was not right and it was the reason she brought him here so that he can forget his worries for a little while. When she saw him on the road she knew she could not leave him there. He was looking so disturbed and lost like a child.

He lay there beside her under the sky full of stars as he thought about her question.

Is he really okay??? He was feeling pain, anger, confusion, all at once, he wanted to feel numb. These emotions were making his chest hurt like someone was stabbing him.

No, he is not he thought, or is he ever going to be. But right now he wanted to forget everything. He didn't want to remember. He just wanted to live in this moment. Laying beside her on the ground under the naked sky, gazing at the stars.

"I don't know" he sighed heavily, not looking away from the stars.

A strain of memories passed through his eyes, he shut his eyes tightly not wanting to remember the ugly realities of his life. It always give him pain and nightmares. It would be easy if he would forget it all.

She took his hands in her own and started rubbing circles on it. He opened his eyes and turned towards her. Her holding his hand was giving comfort he couldn't describe. All this was as new for him as it was for her.

She looked at him and saw something in his eyes that told her that he was not fine in fact he was far from it.

"Don't worry you'll be fine, everything will be fine, you are strong I know it and I also know that you'll get through it. I don't know what happened nor I wanted to know, but you should know that….. you are not alone." she comforted him. She wanted to take his pain away but it's his life and he has to fight his demons himself. It was the only way he could win from this whatever phase he was passing through in his life.

As he heard her saying those words, he believed it. He believed every single one of it.

Beaten, bruised, orphan, rebel, son of a thief, freak, outsider, living with his foster parents. Life was never easy for him. He gets up every day and goes with his routine, fighting his demons but today after a long time he felt that someone was there for him. And for the meantime, it was enough for him.

He was coming back from school after a long day and the first thing he got was a punch on his face. His foster dad was standing in front of him, demanding the money that got stolen from his drawer. One look at his brother's smirking face, he knew it was going to be a long day. He stopped explaining a long time ago, knowing it was of no use.

Bastard, thief, worthless, scum, dirt, and many other words. When his dad was done with him he was black and blue. His mother and brother were standing there witnessing everything but ignoring. Every one of his bones was crying in agony. He just wanted his life to be normal, he just wanted to be normal. Was it too much to ask?

A tear leaked from his eyes. He was tired. He didn't know how long he was lying there on the cold floor but he got up and went outside not knowing where he was going. He was walking where his legs would take him having no destination. He was so lost that he didn't see the truck coming towards him and that time he didn't even care if the truck hit him and ended his life. She was the one who pulled him back and here they are now lying on a cliff.

They were lost in each other. His face was still bruised. He didn't tell her anything but she still was here comforting him.

"You should aid your bruises or it's gonna swell," she was worried that if his wounds were not treated soon, it's going to get infected.

"Why am I looking ugly?" he frowned.

She looked at him with wide eyes, oh no! Did she offend him? "No…. It's not that….. I didn't mean it like that, I...I …I was just, you were...."

"Shhhhhh!" he interrupted her rambling, although she was looking cute rambling like that. "I was just kidding, I know you were worried for me," he chuckled lightly.

"Who said that I was worried. Stop assuming things Mr. I was just being polite" she huffed.

"oh really?"

"Yeah, really!"

They both smiled at each other. Their hearts skipped a beat.

In the moonlight of that night he realized that he is going to be fine as long she is with him. Because at that moment when moonlight lit up her skin and she was looking like an angel to him, his angel, his savior. He knew ... He knew ....…

That she is the one.

In the essence of that night, when they are surrounded by the beautiful nature, that night she realized that she will stand by him as long as he want, because she knew..... she knew....

That he is the one

The End ...
