Vito sat in his office reading the file in front of him. Sion had sent him the file twenty minutes ago.
Danny's story was identical to what the file said. And Vito actually liked the kid. He was ambitious and a great poet. Joe wasn't happy with Vito taking him in, not at all.
But Vito never listened to Joe anyway. Vito sighed, putting the file down and picking his glass up. His sister was due to arrive tomorrow.
He'd missed Francesca, he always did, but Vito wasn't sure if he wanted her around right now, not when there was war brewing. He didn't want her caught up in it.
The door to his office burst open and Danny stood in the doorway. Vito had temporarily made Danny his PA. All Mafia leaders had a business. Whether big or small you had to have a legal business to cover up the Mafia. Or else people would start to wonder where all your money came from. And when people got curious they started looking.
You couldn't have people sticking their nose in or they'd find things they weren't supposed to. "Vito, Joe called, he said that there'd been an incident at Kana and Mr. Reichert wants to have a meeting with you, I told him you're busy til next week but he's persistent." Surprisingly, the kid was actually good at the job.
Vito pinched the bridge of his nose "tell Joe I'll be there soon and tell Mr. Reichert to go fuck himself" he said. Danny shrugged "I already did both of those things." Vito raised his head to look at the boy.
"Then why the fuck are you in my office?" Danny rolled his eyes "aren't you prickly this morning. There's a woman in the lobby. She's asking for you. And honestly, she's fucking scary. Nice. But scary" there were only two women Vito knew who could scare people like that.
"Send her up" Danny nodded and left. Vito fixed his tie and ran a hand through his hair. He wondered why he was so excited.
The door opened and she grinned at him. Her lips were painted a dangerous shade of red, as usual. Kitty adorned a white and red polka dotted rockabilly dress with her hair tied back and black heels.
"Vito, darling" Vito couldn't stop the smile that overcame his features. "Don't you know it's rude to take a girl out to lunch and never call again?" She dropped her purse on the chair and walked around the desk to stand beside him.
Vito laughed "I apologize, Kitten. I didn't realise you'd been waiting for my call." Kitty chuckled and hopped onto the desk.
"Oh no darling, I don't wait for anyone. I'm a busy woman" Vito turned his chair to look at her. "Is that so?" Kitty nodded.
"Then why are you here right now?" Kitty grinned brilliantly "why, because we're going to lunch of course." She hopped off the desk and rounded the table again.
"What's your assistant's name?" Kitty asked "Danny" Vito replied. Kitty nodded "bring him along, he's cute" anger shot through Vito. Kitty must have seen the scowl on his face because she laughed and said: "now, Mr. Schnabel, no need to get all possessive on me, he's too young for my liking anyway, I like a man with experience. He'd be perfect for a friend of mine though!"
She whirled around and opened the door "Danny, dear" she called "yes, Ms. Novaek?" Kitty waved her hand "please, call me Kitty." She turned to grab her bag and hooked her arm through Danny's.
"Come, we're going to lunch" she said "but Vito-" Danny protested "oh don't worry, he's coming too. Vito! Be a darling and call Kanji, tell him to meet us at La Quinta." And then she was down the hall, dragging poor Danny with her.
Vito chuckled. That woman, already ordering me around. He sighed and thought that he might as well get used to it. Vito had never thought about being with someone forever. But he was sure he'd never find anyone like Kitty again, and he wasn't going to let her go. No matter what.
He pulled his phone out and dialled Kanji.

Kitty asked Danny questions about himself while Vito sat next to her in silence. He hated to admit that he was sulking. Danny had been getting all of Kitty's attention and Vito wasn't too happy about it.
Kitty placed her hand on Vito's and he relaxed. "We'll have to stop at Kana first" Vito said and Kitty nodded "alright."
When the car pulled up, Danny helped Kitty out and Vito scowled at him. Danny struggle to contain his laughter. He enjoyed riling Vito up.
While Kitty was no doubt a beautiful woman, Danny wasn't interested. Not only that, it looked like Vito already had every intention of making her his and Danny wasn't about to step on the Mafia Don's toes.
The first thing they saw when they stepped inside was the bodies. Vito sighed. This was going to be a mess to clean up. Just thinking about all the paperwork had him stressed out.
"What too you so lon-oh." Joe stopped short, staring at Kitty with what looked like disappointment. Kitty smiled cheekily "the feeling is mutual, Joey" she said. Danny snorted and Vito cracked a smile at the expression on Joe's face.
Before a fight could break out between Joe and Kitty, which Kitty would most definitely win, Vito interjected "what happened here?" Joe's eyes slid to Vito.
"One of those little gangs from the East Side decided to try their luck. Sterling Shadow, the name was" Kitty snorted and Danny followed. "That's a stupid name" Kitty smiled. Danny nodded in agreement.
Vito looked around the place. This gang would have to be crushed. Vito couldn't have anyone opposing him. "I can deal with it" Kitty said.
All three men turned to her. "What?" Vito questioned. Kitty shrugged "I can handle it. It wouldn't be difficult." Vito nodded "okay" Kitty grinned.
"It'll be done by tonight." She then turned to Joe "now if you'll excuse us, we have a lunch to attend." She patted Joe on the shoulder condescendingly "have fun, clean up boy. Make sure you scrub the floors real good. I hear bleach works the best." She winked before turning around and walking out the door.
Danny couldn't contain himself. He burst into loud laughter at the expression on Joe's face before following Kitty out the door.
Vito shrugged when Joe turned to look at him "she's not wrong, bleach does work the best."

Kitty's heels clicked against the marble floors. She stopped at the table and leaned down to kiss both her sister's cheeks "Tina, darling" Annie's eyes were thunderous "you're late, Kathryn" Kitty sighed "it's ten minutes, Tina" Annie sighed.
She closed her eyes and opened them again a minute later. Vito would never admit that he was slightly terrified when her eyes turned to him. "Vito. Hello, how are you?" She stood and kissed both of his cheeks.
"I'm well, how are you?" Annie waved her hand dismissively "good, good." She turned to Danny. "Hello, I'm Antonia Montoya. And you are?" Danny shook her hand, smiling charmingly "Danny. Danny Phantomieve."
"Annie they said they didn't-" the girl crashed into Danny. Before she hit the floor he caught her and pulled her to her feet.
For a moment the two just stared at each other. The girl smiled sheepishly and the tips of Danny's ears turned red.
"H-hi" he said "Hello. I'm Jessica. Jessica Callahan" she held her hand out and he took it. Danny had never seen anyone more beautiful in his life. Her short hair fell around her in chestnut waves and her eyes were a brilliant shade of amber. He took in her black combat boots and leather tights. Her black t shirt, leather jacket and her winged eyeliner.
Her ears and lip were pierced and her accent was definitely French.
"I'm Danny. Danny Phantomieve." Jesse smiled even as her heart felt like it would give in. His platinum blond hair was messy and his eyes were Jade green. He was tall and lanky and goddess she'd never felt like this around anyone.
She observed his black jeans, white t shirt, leather jacket and the piercing on his lip.
"If you two would kindly stop eye fucking each other, we can start lunch" Annie gasped and slapped her sister's arm. "Kathryn! That's crude" Kitty cackled and winked at her sister.
Vito pulled out a chair for her and Kitty thanked him. Danny nearly tripped over his feet trying to pull a chair out for Jesse. She chuckled and said a quiet thank you. Annie moved to pull out her chair when someone else did it for her.
Annie turned, startled "Kanji." Vito had never seen his best friend smile like that "Cherry Blossom" he smiled. Vito and Kitty shared a look. Nicknames already?
Annie smiled lightly and sat down. Kanji took the seat beside her. "Let's eat shall we?"
