Chapter 8 - Quantum Entanglement

Connor was amongst the younger generation at IWSM, the goal of the organisation was to manage the quantum constant of Zhetha- the existence quotient of each world. There were an infinite number of worlds, hence it made sense that were an infinitely large number of staff working to maintain the status quo.

But there was something that made Connor different from the rest of the employees, he was fascinated by what individuals could do in the different worlds and would spend a lot of time watching them. Based on something he saw in one of them, he came up with SRS as a tool that would get him promoted and it worked, making him look like a genius in the eyes of the senior management team.

For some reason, in the last few thousand years the number of deviations had been greater. Currently, Connor was looking into a specific region, the 'Phantom continent'. This time the deviation was over the acceptable range of 0.000000000001% by a lot, the current deviation had reached 1.23% and hadn't been picked up by anyone else. There was too much workload on everyone already and the increase in cases didn't help.

This world was only supposed to have one type of universal chi energy, yet it seemed that there were many different types that existed here, and the number of types was increasing with time. To resolve this, Connor ran the corporate simulator to identify a suitable course of action.

The simulator was really slow, in the time it took to load an ideal situation, Connor went to the vending machine, another one of his 'genius' inventions and took an orange juice & chocolate bar free of charge, complements to the inventor pass. Despite being an introvert, Connor displayed an aloof expression and maintained the facade of being an out of this world genius. Though this meant no one else from the young generation treated him like a friend, in their eyes he was a viper ascending the corporate ladder, who could do anything to rise the ranks.

Going back to his office, yeah he had one of those now, after so many genius inventions a promotion was overdue! Connor sat back down and watched the loading bar make progress; in all that time it had only gone 2% up.

'''Cue elevator music''' a whole eternity later.

'' --Analysis Complete-- "

Ideal Scenario 1: Eliminate 60% population, remove all elders, and create chaos- battle to the stone age.

Ideal Scenario 2: Mass transmigrate 5% of high potential cultivators, maintain current deviation and report to management for world dissolution possibility -partial solution

Ideal Scenario 3: High risk possibility, cross world transmigration. Eliminate total deviation- success potential 30%.

" --Recommended Scenario 2-- "

Leaning back into his chair, Connor was pondering what to do. Which approach would be best for him and his image? Thinking about it the best scenario seemed to be the third one, as he could remove the entire deviation. Very few cases existed in which total deviation was removed, most were happy to ensure that further deviation did not occur. The question was which world should he remove a soul from and whose jurisdiction that would come from. Thinking about it, there was a member of the senior generation close to him who he could ask help from.

One of the worlds which ended in self-annihilation according to the original timeline came to mind, if they were all going to die anyway what did one missing soul matter. Using his terminal, Connor sent a message and got a quick response- there was an individual who was supposed to die in the original timeline, and it would resolve another deviation if he used his soul. Sure, why not, if they could both benefit.

The next issue was who to replace,' let's see who's due to die soon on the Phantom continent' thought Connor whilst looking throughout the list. The first name that catched his attention was a nobody from the Yuzhou Clan- 'I should choose a clan that is orthodox and will align more with the original reality'. The next person to die would be someone called Zuck from poisoning, let's just get this over with, I need some new ideas to present to senior management. At this rate within a few thousand years I'll be at the top level overseeing everything!

I'll just ask Jim from record keeping to arrange this, not like anyone ever bothered with records anyway.

'''Ring, Ring'''

"Hi Jim, can you do me a favour. Using the phone terminal with access code 007, can you kindly initiate daily transfer number 10'460- thanks!"

Well, that's everything sorted, time to kick my feet up and relax now. Let's listen to some tunes!

.

I had a plan once, to change the world

I had a dream too, to be the best

But when it came to, give it a start,

I peeped the time and It was 12:01,

Should I start today or do it tomorra,

Should I start today, Nah, I'll do it tomorra,

.

When time just flies, the days just melt on by,

The summer breeze and a winter eve,

I was once a young child, with a big enough dream,

A dream to fill the world with joy,

Yet as I grew older, It whittled away,

Now all I have is hope to be,

To be what I always wanted to be.

.

The difference! I am the difference!

I'll make your day, make you smile,

Bring out your innermost child,

For that is what I came to be,

For all the love of the world!

It takes me higher, to the edge of a mountain peak,

I see the oceans stretch in the distance,

The families out at sea, travelling to the ends of the world.

.

I changed it all from my seat, I have it all at my fingertips.

Yet if you asked me to leave my seat, a million years might pass on by

I'm just plain lazy, won't even batt an eye.

I was meant to be at some show, but here I am lying on ma couch

Firing away at them zombies now, just wait a minute- 1 more round

Yet that round never ceases to end.

.

But when it all ends, I remember the truth.

It matters not what I do, for everything is last minute

But those memories last more than a lifetime

Hanging out with my pals, the cheery talk drowns it out,

The feeling of happiness, no laziness can ever replace that

.

The home I have, never felt empty

Yet I yearn for the day, I can leave this shell.

Become someone who can truly do it all!

Go out, make some noise and be the difference I was always meant to be!!!!
