Chereads / Twice the Alpha / Chapter 5 - Parallel Continent

Chapter 5 - Parallel Continent

An old man could be seen in a little cabin in the middle of a vast grassy plain. He approached the door of his cabin and took a step outside before suddenly stopping as if he sensed something.

'Seems like I'll be having visitors. Ohh, how long has it been?' the old man thought to himself.

....

*WARP* *THUD*

"Finally we're here," mother said after landing perfectly on her feet when exiting the portal.

"Ow, my buttocks," I shrieked as I was zapped out

through that sed portal.

"Where are we?" I continued the moment I surveyed my surrounding area.

"It supposedly the continent next to our's," my mother replied while committing the same action I just performed.

"There's nothing here mother. It's a plain full of grass." I inquired as I looked around to the vacant meadow only filled with wild leafy terrace.

"No, look closer," my mother said as she pointed to a far desolated region. I soon turned towards the direction her finger pointed but I saw nothing.

My mother, realizing this simply said, "Use your eyes."

I don't know whether it was my animal instincts but as I focused my gaze my view immediately became that of a 4K camera. The cabin which never existed in my bare eyes was now as bright as day.

"Now you see?" my mother asked.

"Y-yeah," I responded still in amazement. This was my first time using my werewolf vision on my own accord.

"Then let's get moving," she replied as she grabbed hold of my hand before making way through the grassy plains

....

It's now been at least thirty minutes since we've inaugurated our walking. If I had to put a distance on it I'd say it's prevailed for about a mile. That aside, we were now approaching the cabin. It was more shabby than I expected only being surrounded by a 3x3 wooden gate. We proceeded to the gate but when we attempted opening it a sudden shock stopped us.

"Kya!"

"Agh,"

Both my mother and I shrieked.

"It seems to be guarded by magic," My mother said as she speculated an invincible barrier. She gently placed her hands on the barrier causing it to retaliate violently. Sparks started skewing from the location her hand pressed against.

*GROAN*

My mother grunted as she pursued to cancel the barrier. Bit in doing so induced a voice to intruded her attempt,

"Hey now! Don't be in such a rush I'll get that for you,"

It was an old man who was stroking his long white beard. One of his arms held a walking stick and though his eyes were slightly closed I could see a faint color flashing within them. He slowly stepped towards the gate before chanting some words underneath his breath which made it hard to interpret for both my mother and me.

"Now you can enter. Come in," the old man stated with a wave of his empty hand.

"Oh, Thank you so much," my mother said with a concerning tinge as she proceeded to propel me onward.

"Oho, is this your child lady?" the old man asked in an interested manner with yet another stroke of his beard

"Yes. His name is Freidich," my mother replied grip my shoulder tightly.

Hmmm....this kid. Is something wrong here? I couldn't scrutinize his presence. Moreover, there's a ominous and dangerous power within him the old man thought while glancing at me before he declaring,

"Let's head inside. You guys must be coming from far."

My mother and I looked at each other simultaneously. One thought crossed our minds and that was what did the old man mean by his last statement? But, other than that, we permeated the cabin behind him.

Upon entering, the interior was not to be expected. The inside of the cabin was that of a mansion. A luxurious table was to the left with six chairs surrounding it. To the right, you had a large captivating kitchen and in the center was an enormous living room.

"Make yourselves at home," the old man said before signaling his hands for us to take a seat.

My mother and I quickly sat around the table.

"Well then. Do you guys want tea?" The old man asked.

"That'll be fine we just need a place to stay for a while," my mother rejected him then explained our situation.

"Oh straight to the point, is it? I take it you guys are from the parallel continent," the old man stated not asked.

"Yes! How did you know?" My mother responded with her squinted eyes and arched eyebrows.

"It's not my first time having visitors you know. There have been a few people such as yourselves who traveled here in the past but not as captivating as you both are," the old man said.

"Oh, I see so it's not a rare occasion. But what did you mean by the latter?" my mother asked out of curiosity.

"How should I say this? Your son." The old man inquired.

"What do you mean my son?" My mother asked slightly infuriated with a threatening stare.

"Calm down ma'am. It's just that there's something special about him, something very dangerous and I can feel it," the old man replied.

"Can you explain? How have you came to that conclusion," my mother asked as she retracted her subtle outrageous manner.

Without saying a word the old man opened his eyelids revealing his pitch red eyes.

My other covered her mouth with both hands gasping in shock before whispering," You're an alpha!"

"Indeed I am." The old man replied.

Both my mother and I were surprised though we still had a pending matter to discuss.

"That clears things up a little. Knowing that you're an alpha with a bitter and enthusiastic awareness. So, would you mind confiding me what is so delightful about my son?" My mother said.

"Did you know that there is a level or two above that of the Alpha?" The old man asked shifting his eyes back to their conventional pigment.

"What! I've never heard of such a thing! What could be conceivably greater than an Alpha" My mother exclaimed.

"Please simmer down before you have a heart attack and let me explain. I too thought the same as you but I was proved wrong when I came along an ancient book written by my ancestors. The truth of the matter prevails that there are vaster beings than the Alpha. Long ago there was a Wolf known as the Progenitor, the second of the werewolves lineage.

That Wolf had the power to compel all and every Alpha to its command. But what was most troublesome was that there was another...another Wolf far more dangerous than the Progenitor. My ancestor expected it to be the first of the werewolves, where it all started. It's said that a bite from this Wolf can instantly create a True Alpha. Who are known to be stronger and faster than the average. But even so, neither my ancestors or the current Werewolves have discovered the first of our kin,"

My mother's body suddenly became obstruct to her movements as she sat there with an alarmed utterance.

"Though, there is another information about the Progenitor. Whoever can attain this level will have deep violet eyes," the old man continued.

These last words brought a terrified and shocked expression across my mother's worrisome face.

Realizing this the old man said, "What's the matter? Did I say something wrong?"

"Y-you said violet eyes r-right?" my mother responded.

"Yes! Why are you concerned about that?" The only man who questioned my frightened mother.

"W-hat if I told you....t-that sed color appeared in my son's eyes before?" my mother stuttered.

The old man fell out of his chair almost having a stroke before he recuperated himself and shouted," Is what you say true! You have to be certain!"

"Yes. Very," my mother simply replied still wearing a shocked expression.

The old man was stunned with bountiful thoughts filling his head. After a moment of silence, it was suddenly broken.

"Then I have a proposal. I want to take your son under my wings and train him personally to gain enough strength to protect himself and possibly allow him to attend our cities Grandview High School when he's of age. As for you, I can make you be a teacher while you're still in this place. You both are new around here and will have to comprehend much about this continent before building your foothold. If you agree I'll help you on your nearing journey," the old man explained a bold proposition.

My mother first thought about it. I mean it would be pretty stupid to turn down such an offer. Especially one that could be of tremendous help. Though we escaped our continent for the time being we were now on a completely different one and we would need as much help as possible.

My mother replied after some deep thinking, "I...I agree. From now on may we build a mutual relationship."

Bingo! Not only my hunch was right! This boy might be the new ruler of the universe if oriented properly. I have to take this risk before anyone else can. I am going to make this kid into a god...noo...maybe higher than that the old man thought with a hidden grin.

"Well then, let's get to work. And the kid from this day on it's going to be hell with you and me," the old man said as he looked me in the eyes.

I guess this is where my adventurous and life-threatening story truly starts I thought to myself with a nervous expression written across my face.

Though there was still a bothersome question that troubled me. What was higher than the Progenitor?
