Chapter 206 - CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FIVE

Grandmother is still confused, concerning grandfather's disappearance but she trusts me and I wonder if deep down she is hoping he dead!

"You still have no clue as to your grandfather's whereabouts?" She frowned but didn't appear to be deeply concerned.

Shrugging, I pulled a chair to sit opposite her wheelchair, "I found Angela Lawrence so I'm sure he'll pop us somewhere." Leaning back with arms folded, I stare at her thoughtfully and chuckled. "Are you sure you didn't put a hit on him?" Tilting my head to observe her thoroughly.

Laughing in a soft gently tone, "I'm sorry I afraid to order it before," she continued laughing, while I tried remembering when I saw honest humor on her countenance.

Leaning forward, my elbows on my knees, "yeah, things might have been different if he was the one in the wheelchair." I mused thoughtfully.

Grandmother's laughter ceased and her smile disappeared at my words.

Sitting back against the chair, "I'm sorry," clasping my hands in front her, I apologize. "I shouldn't have said that," I admitted, staring downwards.

I was at college when grandmother got hurt and didn't find out until I visited her during the thanksgiving break.

Placing a hand on my knee, "it's okay," she smiled reassuringly, "I don't think about it anymore," she admitted but from the dark look in her eyes, I can see that she's not being truthful.

Gently placing my hand on her frail hand that's resting on my knee, "grandmother, I never heard what actually happened." I admitted, having never had this conversation before.

"I can't remember much," with a blank look in her eyes, she responded. "But it's very similar to the accident you were caught up in." She continued and didn't see my shocked expression.

With grandmother, you don't search for right words or the proper way to ask a question. You just go for the kill.

"Do you think your accident and the accident that killed Ralph and hurt us, were from the same persons?" I asked, watching grandmother freeze for a millisecond before turning to nod at me.

"Like I said, it's very similar." She replied softly, her soft eyes gone cold and hard.

Lifting her hand off my knee, I brought it to my lips, "I know who put the hit on me," I whispered against her thin frail hand.

Straightening her back, "is it the same person you suspected before?" She ask, rubbing her thighs roughly.

Nodding, "yes," I paused, "he admitted he wanted the lawyer dead." I told her and since we both discussed Clyde Daniel after I found out about him, she understood.

Turning to the open door, "call your right foot in then close the door." Grandmother smiles, because she nicknamed Justin right foot since our school days, as he was always ahead of me and always there in my life, except when he joined the Marines.

"These things called cell phones have gotten young people so lazy," she shook her head in disgust when I was done calling Justin on the phone.

"I'm here" Justin announce, knocking the door.

I point to grandmother, "I know," she said without turning around, "make sure you bolt the door behind you." She ordered.

Raising his eyebrows, Justin frowned at me.

Tilting my head at grandmother, I nod for him to obey her.

Like Jamie, Justin is still weary of grandmother but I have to trust her because we both need each other now, with grandfather missing and the Empire could be up for grabs.

Justin stood beside us and grandmother glance quickly between Justin and I, "I trust you, which is why I am about to share a secret with you," she confesses, "a secret that has kept me alive." She adds and slowly stands to her feet.

"You can walk?" I stood and stared at her in disbelief.

Instead of answering, grandmother, shifted the wheelchair and walked around the room, even though she appears frail and thin, she's appears strong and alert.

Justin and I exchange a glance before turning our attention to grandmother.

"Ingrid and her son planned to kill me the same way they tried to kill you and your wife," grandmother informed Justin and I. "And the worst part is," pausing with a disgusted expression. "Your grandfather knew it was going to happen but kept mumm on it because he wanted me gone and with me gone he would have inherited everything." She already shared some of this with me and I know what she is saying now is for Justin's benefit.

By the time we left the safehouse grandmother already had a plan in place to attack grandfather's mistress and her son but we must first find proof that grandfather's gone for good.

Ensuring we were not being followed since we rode alone, we took a drive to the village to get some pastries from Jamie's grandmother.

There is a small dining area in the shop but I went directly to the counter, to see Mrs. Phillips smiling broadly at me.

Justin was at my heel in an instant, "Jessica and Clyde are outside," leaning, he whispers in my ear.

"Don't be over friendly," I advised Mrs. Phillip, whose smile disappeared and was replace with a frown.

Looking down at the showcase and closer to her, "the persons who tried to kill Jamie is here, if you know me, it could endanger you too." I warned her.

Taking my que, Mrs. took a box and turned to Justin, "what did you say you wanted young man?" She asks Justin politely and he points to the pastry in the showcase.

"This and this and this," Justin orders, "and a cup of coffee which I will be having here." He says surprising Mrs. Phillips.

She turns nervously to take my order, "would you be having yours here?" She asks politely and I nod.

After selecting my pastries, I took a plate with two bottle water after Mrs. Phillips promise to bring our coffee.
