I left grandmother's apartment more disturb than when I left home.
I got answers, plus additional problems.
I couldn't tell her what I suspected because like my mother and wife, I believe, I also needed to keep my grandmother safe from grandfather, but I'm not ready to trust her with any information of my wife.
After a quick call to Whiz I found out Jerome is still at the burger joint having already accumulated an earful of information from a drunken Clyde, whose supposed to be dropping grandfather back home, but by the way things are looking, grandpa would be stuck yet another night with his mistress, leaving my grandmother alone, which is something they would normally plan?
How did I never notice what my grandmother was going through?
Was I that selfish? Absorbed in my own life unaware of others around me.
I will be the first to admit, that I was spoilt as the Prince of the Daniels Empire and grandfather had a lot to do with spoiling me rotten, as mom used to say. But who wouldn't be when you're growing up with millions at your disposal and an army surrounding you?
My bubble about taking over the throne burst when I killed Douglar. Or when I thought I killed him.
How different would my life have been if I remained with my grandparents? Would my life have still been in danger because of grandfather's mistress? Would I have been the head of the Empire by now?
I couldn't return home without Jerome and face his sister's wrath so Justin and I decided to just kicked back in our vehicle and wait until they burn out.
Clyde Daniels, is grandfather's last child with his mistress, the first three being girls and his mistress was desperate to bear a son, a son to carry on the Daniels name and a son who will inherit the entire Daniels Empire.
Grandfather remain with his mistress after their first child's birth unlike the way he treated grandmother after dad's birth? Grandfather literally abandoned my grandmother, as a wife but was involved with my father's upbringing.
How much does grandmother actually know about grandfather's other family? How is it that no one mentioned any of this before? Why didn't dad mention this? Did he know all that grandmother knew or did he hide it from me?
So many questions and I am determined to get answers for all of them.
The words grandmother said to me as I was walking out her bedroom, enlightened me, "your grandfather only owns what I give to him, or what he personally accumulated during our marriage, but because I am his lawfully wedded wife, I own half of everything he accumulated during this union and it if wasn't for your father and you, I would have given up a very long time ago." Grandmother admitted, but she wasn't sad. She appeared contented.
Grandfather has nothing so he has nothing to give to his mistress. My grandmother is a brilliant woman and the reason she is still alive is because even in her death grandfather can't touch what she owns and if he can't touch it, then his mistress and her children would never own it.
"F**k that boy!" Justin suddenly exclaims and I quickly sat up, looking around.
"What is wrong now?" I frowned at my irritated friend.
Rubbing his stomach, it's late and he's still having fun, while I am cramped in here with you." Justin says giving me a disgusted look. "And I'm starving," he added.
Chuckling, I laid back down, "don't you have his girlfriend's number?" I asked, closing my eyes, "tell Cinderella it's after midnight and bring burgers for the folks." I suggested, before hearing Justin shuffling beside me, as he started typing his message to Gwen.
Jerome messaged us to wait for him like planned because Clyde remembers the cabin and asked to visit, so he doesn't want to risk being followed,
After ensuring Jerome is bringing us a late snack, Justin happily turned in the direction of the cabin and home.
By the time we arrive home my wife and parents were still awake but by the look on mom's face, she was forcing herself to remain awake with dad and Jamie, who were waiting for me.
Moving to sit down beside my wife, who laid across the sofa.
Placing her feet on my lap, I started massaging her bare feet.
"Did you have a successful evening?" Dad asked and I shrugged, aware that mom instantly became attentive.
Only dad, Justin and I were having a late dinner as my wife and mother refused, claiming it was too late for heavy junk food.
Frowning at my father, "were you aware of the manner grandmother has been treated at grandfather's hands?" I finally broke the silence, since mom and Jamie would eventually hear what is going on, so I won't bother to hide any of this.
Turning to smile at my mother, "I suspected, because they were never close. At first, it didn't bother me, but when I heard mom crying and begging my grandparents to release her from the marriage, I realize it was bad." Dad admitted and I was shocked.
"What the f**k!" I exclaimed angrily. "And you didn't help her?" I moved Jamie's legs from my lap and stood up to glare down at my father.
Dad stood up against me, while mom stood with a horrified expression on her face, placing her hands against our chest.
"Stop it you too!" mom yelled in frustration. "I can't and I won't do this anymore. I won't" she cries and walks bare feet out of the room.''
I spun around to watch her walk away only to realize Jamie had already left.
Turing to glare back at dad, poking my index finger at his chest.
"This conversation is not over," I warned, storming out of the room without a backward glance a dad or Justin.
As I walking into the empty bedroom, I turned to leave when I heard the shower running.
I tried opening the door, but it was locked.
"Jamie, open the door" I knocked softly.
