Dad paced the living room, swearing despite mom's plead for him to stop.
"Just remember our grandchild's hearing you, she's going to pick up your bad language" she complains to dad, who wasn't amused.
I smile at mom whose still hoping for a granddaughter, but I didn't make any comment.
Dad stopped and glared at her, "it doesn't matter, it's Logan's kid, she exit her mother's womb, swearing instead of screaming," he clarifies before resuming his pacing.
Dad and Logan came in separate vehicles, but Logan and Jer isn't here yet.
I don't know what to think. I still feel numb from my conversation with mom. I have not had any time to figure it out and make decisions. I won't run like I have been doing when I am afraid. I will remain and fight for us and our family, if I survive the surgery.
The sound of the kitchen door slamming, stops dad from pacing and swearing as he turns to the kitchen and wait, mom on the other hand, looks up expectantly, first at me, then the open doorway.
Logan was swearing at Jer, because they are the only two that walked through the door.
Suddenly, I smelt food and it's a familiar scent.
Smiling, I watched Jer walked into the living room as if he expected to see me, lifting two bags in his hand.
"Breakfast!" He yells happily, while my husband follows him with a scowl on his handsome face, in spite of his tired appearance.
Stretching out both hands at Jer, "gimme" I chuckle as Logan threw his tired body beside me, mindful of not hitting me.
As I tried to shift my feet, Logan pulled my legs back and adjusted himself to lay flat down with his head on my lap.
Jer hands me a Burger from George's special, my most favourite place ever.
"Oh my God," I said turning to mom, "you've got to try this, burger, it's the best," I was saying as I tried to encourage mom to try the burger, Jer had outstretched to her.
Shrugging she takes one and dad also seats himself beside mom taking a burger from Jer.
"I am hungry after getting no rest thanks to that jackass," nodding at Logan, dad complains, as he bites into the burger, nodding in appreciation.
"Where did you guys get this?" Mom asks Jer between bites.
Not waiting for Jer to respond, I answered for him, "at my most favourite place ever, George's specials," I said in between large bite, wiping the edge of my burger, before the dressing leaks on Logan's closed eyes.
"Yes and Jerome forgot to mention that we met your old boyfriend there, Clyde or something like that," my sleeping husband informs me, his eyes still closed.
Pausing, I turned to Jerome, "boyfriend?" I repeated in surprise, "Clyde?" I ask Jerome, lifting my eyes shocked.
"Yes, f**king Clyde," Logan mocks, sleepily.
I started laughing at Logan while Jer takes another burger across for dad.
"My son sounds jealous." Mom says observantly, wiping her mouth and refusing a second burger from Jer.
"Off Clyde Daniels" I laugh turning to Jer. "Can I have another one, remember I am eating for two." I asked Jer, unaware the room had gone cold.
Logan slowly gets up, as I took the burger from Jer.
Turning to me, frowning with a surprise expression, "who did you say your boyfriend was?" Logan asks.
Huffing, I ignored him and started eating my second burger, already feeling I could have a third one.
"Jamie, I'm speaking to you," Logan says impatiently and I stubbornly refused to answer him.
Jer decided to deal with the conversation, "Clyde wasn't her boyfriend" Jer says looking at me. "He was interested in her and his mother loved her but, Jamie considered him like a brother." Jer explains, while I comfortably ate my burger, although I was also aware of the shock on dad's face.
"You met Clyde's mother?" Dad asked, forgetting his uneaten burger.
What's going on here? Why are they so interested in a boy I use to know.
"Jamie?" Dad, called me out of my questioning thoughts.
I nod nervously as he exchange looks with his son.
Logan give me one backwards glance, before getting up and walking out and I honestly hope he went to our room.
Jer and I exchanged confused glances, before I turn to dad, "what's going on?" I asked, pointing to the back of me, "why is Logan so upset, with someone who was never my boyfriend?"
Staring at his burger, dad suddenly resumes eating it to avoid answering me.
"Dad?" I called him "Why is Logan up upset about Clyde?" I asked again.
Mom smiled, "what did you say his name was?" She enquired softly.
Without thinking, "Clyde Daniels" I repeated, then silently, "Clyde Daniels" I mummer. Examining the faces of mom and dad and their concerned expression. "Do you know him?" I asked realizing Clyde bears the same surname as Logan's family.
Dad nods in the direction of my room, "you should go and talk to him, I don't think he'll react to anything I have to say right now." Dad suggested and I immediately obeyed him, because I also need to use the bathroom, urgently.
Gathering my blanket and shawl, "okay, I'll see you later," I smiled at dad and mom, taking the hand the Jer extended towards me.
Walking into my bedroom, I see Logan sprawled off on the bed, half naked, clad in only his boxers,f his hair damp as he apparently took a quick shower.
I locked the door, before going to the bathroom and followed Logan, by taking a quick bath, because on a full stomach I expect to fall asleep.
Pulling on one of Logan's T-shirts and an underwear, I joined him in bed, moving closer to him.
Reaching out and arm, he wraps it around me and draws me closer to him to cuddle me, confirming he's not upset with me.
