Chapter 152 - CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY TWO

Remembering the reason for Jer seeking me out and what Logan is involved with right now, I had to know and since I can't ask Logan, I'll have to fish the information out of Jer.

"So what exactly did Jess say concerning Angela Lawrence's disappearance," I ask with both concern and curiosity.

Wiping the water from his hands and face, Jer sits up, deep in thought.

"She mention that she hasn't contacted her family for a few days now" Jer was saying and fear instantly gripped me.

Logan what have you done?

"A few days? I repeated, trying to keep myself composed.

Nodding, Jer stares at me. " Yeah, they said the last time she called her mother was more than two weeks ago." Jer continued and I released the breath I was holding in.

"More than two weeks you said?" I asked Jer slowly.

Nodding slowly, he stares at me suspiciously, "yes, why?" He asks softly.

Shrugging nervously, "I know I shouldn't care, especially since her family was involved in the incident that took Mr. Stanley's life." I explained, "but... I don't know if that is wrong of me." I said, keeping my eyes on Jer, watching for his reaction.

"And there is that" he says softly shaking his head. "Maybe she got caught up in something bad and as the saying goes, Karma is a bitch." He chuckles, lacking humor.

Based on the time her family hasn't heard from her, Logan may not be involved, but then again, what was he doing before I spoke to him.

"I'll asked Logan" I told Jer, but his eyes widen, his expression unreadable.

"Nah, maybe it's nothing and it's might be best to keep Gray out of this," Jer suggested, but I am curious or maybe slightly concerned.

"Okay" I lied, because I can use this is an excuse to find out what I can about Logan's activities.

"Jamie!" Jer says firmly, giving me a stern look, "don't" he warned.

"Okay!" I shrugged, smirking.

"I'm warning you, Jamie. Do not get Gray involved in this." Jer glared at me. "He will not forgive me for upsetting me." Jer says firmly, giving me the impression, that he won't want to cross paths with Logan.

"OKAY!" I yelled, although I'm not sure how I'm going to handle this information, Jer just shared.

I'm aware that the timing of Angela Lawrence's disappearance and my conversation with Logan is far apart, but I'm still concerned.

"Why did Jess call you concerning her disappearance?" I asked, "I mean, did she accuse anyone of her disappearance? Does she believe someone here is involved in her disappearance? Does she believe you're involved in disappearance?" I sat opposite him badgering him with questions.

Why would she even have a conversation with him regarding this?

"Maybe it's not even true and she's just trying to find us." I said, trying to find an explanation for Jess's call to Jer.

"Did she mention me?" I continued.

Shaking his head, "no she didn't ask for you and maybe she's lying about the Lawrence girl disappearance. I don't know. Maybe she's trying to set me up." Jer says angrily standing up, his hands gesturing his frustration.

"Maybe she's playing you, as usual." I reminded him sofly.

Chuckling dryly, "it won't be the first time, now would it?" Jer responds with a hurt expression.

"Jer, I'm sorry!" I said quickly stretching out my hand for his.

Jer hesitated for a moment, before clasping my hand in his.

"I realized Logan is involved in situations I know little about, but you can't believe what my husband does is all bad." I squeezed Jer's hand, looking into his eyes.

"They hurt me and drew my husband into a life he turned his back on, but Jess also hurt me and she's helping to destroy me." I explained, "please don't blame my husband, because all of this, is Jessica Scott's doing." I tried to convince him so that he never second guess my husband because of his sister.

Our sister!

Jer leaned down and hugged me, before planting a kiss on my cheek.

"I'm sorry for disturbing you with Jess's lies and problems" Jer apologies, "I won't allow her words to make me second guess Gray again." Jer promises and he sounding genuine, with a remorseful smile.

"Releasing my hand, " want me to take this back to the kitchen?" Jer asks indicating the saucers and plate with the remaining cheesecake.

Happy for the help, "yes, thank you, but secure the cake in the refrigerator, please." I ask, "and leave the two unopened bottle water." I stopped him from picking up the unopened bottles.

Chuckling, " I won't dare eat out your desert, in fear of your husband's wrath." Jer reminds me.

When Jer left, I closed my eyes, but I wasn't at ease.

If Angela Lawrence is missing, then where is she?

My eyes flew open!

I'll get Logan to help find her!

Yes, as soon as he returns from a trip further down the property with his father, I'll ask him.

Logan retuned shouting my name in the bedroom.

Straightening myself, "out here!" I shouted, smiling to myself.

This is the simplicity of marriage. The loving hardworking husband returning to his fat, lazy wife.

"What's so funny?" Logan asks as he walks through the bedroom door.

"Me!" I laugh and Logan's frowns.

Coming to sit beside me, "you?" He asks confused.

Nodding childishly, "yes! My loving hardworking husband has returned home, to his fat, lazy wife." I chuckle but Logan shook his head, his eyes dark with a tinge of anger.

"What the f*ck Jamie?" He says grabbing my arms to look at me. "Is that what you think?" he shakes me. "Do you honestly think I see you like that?" Logan was definitely angry at my joke.

"I was kidding," I touched his cheek gently. "I'm sorry, I was just thinking what a old married couple would be like." I explained.

"And that's definitely not us."
