"Talk to me!" I held Jamie's upper arms and gently shakes her, forcing her to look at me.
"Jamie!" I raised my voice a bit louder causing her to jump.
"Hey, hey" I lifted her chin to look into her eyes, but she still kept her eyes downwards.
"I'm here and whatever it is, it will be fine" I continue coaxing her into trusting me, with whatever she seems to holding back from Justin.
Finally Jamie lifted her eyes to meet mines, the depth of her eyes, moist with unshed tears.
Taking a deep breath, "on one of my last visits at the hospital" she started, "that was before you woke up." She adds quickly. "Well I met the girl from the fashion show, the night of our engagement." She was saying and I kept nodding as I listen intently, already wondering why would meeting Amy make such an impact on Jamie.
"Well she had a little baby girl with her, " Jamie pauses as she stares at me, but I frown because she seems to be waiting for me to add something?
"I'm listening" I told her, encouraging her to continue.
"The baby" Jamie was saying and to my utter frustration, she stops again.
"Yes, Jamie, the baby" I repeated, waiting for her to continue again.
Trying to pull herself out of my hold, but my grip got firmer and as she realizes it, she stops trying to wriggle out of my hand.
"The baby," she started again, "it's Justin's" Jamie says and pauses, but I kept staring at her because of the bomb she just dropped on me.
Yanking her arms from my hold angrily and this time she was able to set herself free.
"Did you hear me?" Jamie asks a now dumbfounded me.
"Wow!" Was all I could muster, raking my hands through my hair.
Grabbing her arms again, "are you sure?" I quickly asked, "how did you know that?" I asked again, "I mean it's not as if you guys were friends, so why would she tell you something that personal?" I kept badgering Jamie with questions, because I am still shock and for the first time, I actually wonder how Justin would take this news.
Adjusting herself on the end of the bed, "it's actually obvious because his daughter has his eyes, the color of his hair and her grin." Jamie describes Justin daughter with such love and admiration.
"I asked her if Justin knew and she got silent, but then the lady, whose apparently the baby's mother walked over to us and the little girl call the lady mom, which caused Amy to start crying." Jamie went on to explain.
"After that I made it my business to question her myself, but, I told her I knew the baby was Justin's. She didn't deny it, even though I was bluffing." Jamie continued but I need to know why?
"Why would she hide the baby from Justin?" I mummer, remembering how much he loved her. How much he still loves her and he's still waiting for her return.
Apparently I spoke out louder than I thought, because Jamie answered my question.
"Her mother took her away to hide the pregnancy from Justin and give the baby away for adoption, but Amy found the adoptive mother and because Amy was over twenty one, she was able to get her baby back without her parents finding out." Jamie explains.
Still unable to comprehend all of this, "and you know all of this, how?" I asked Jamie, regretting it instantly.
Glaring at me, Jamie huffs with an annoyed expression, masking her face.
"I put two and two together and I bluff my way through a conversation with her, threatening to reveal the truth to Justin. But she made me promise to give her some time to sort her life out with her parents before speaking to Justin, but Logan" she emphasises, "it's been months." Jamie stressed and I finally understand, or at least I think that I do.
Jamie's eyes widen, "do you have her number?" Jamie suddenly asks me and I slowly shook my head, deciding if I should lie.
Frowning as if she didn't believe me, but still she persisted, "then get it for me, because I can't keep this secret anymore and I really want Justin to know." Jamie begged and I pulled her into my arms.
"Okay, I understand the pain of keeping a secret that will change the course of your life forever," I tell her because my mother has been doing that for so very long and my life went in a different direction, than the one I was planning on living, but when I look a Jamie, I have not regrets.
It was already afternoon when Jamie and I ventured out of the bedroom, after a good sleep and shower, only needing food now.
The kitchen was empty, so from the covered pots and pans, I helped myself with two plates of baked chicken, with macaroni and green salad, placing the smaller portion in front of my wife and the larger I kept.
I placed a bottle water and juice in front of Jamie along with her vitamins before joining her at the table.
"So you and I will do damage control after we're done here," I tell her inbetween bites.
Staring up at me with a confused look, "what?" She asks and I pat my chest lightly before attacking my lunch again.
"Mom and Justin, but maybe not in that order." I told her.
"Okay, I have one better" she chuckles and I know it's because she's nervous.
Pointing to me, "you take mom and I will take Justin." She suggests, "I just want to get this thing over and done with. I am sure Justin still have her number so." She stops and nods, "yes that would work, so by tonight, I'll be guilt free" Jamie summarizes, excitedly.
Yeah, guilt free from Justin but we're still far from being problem free!
