Chapter 131 - CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY ONE

Still weak, Jer, Gwen and I sat around the island in the kitchen having a late dinner that Mrs. Stanley left for me.

Staring down at the full plate Jer placed in front of me, unable to touch it despite my hunger.

Lifting my eyes to Jer's, where he sat opposite me, "did Jess call you after I spoke to her?" I asked curiously.

The soft smile he has been wearing since he came into my bedroom earlier, instantly vanished. His eyes darkens with anger.

With a brief look in Gwen's direction, Jer turned back to me and nod.

"Yeah, yeah she did and apparently she bought it right?" He said angrily, looking at the sandwich on the plate in front of him.

Before I could reach a hand across the table towards him, Gwen's hand was already on his squeezing it.

His gaze softens as he looks at Gwen, a small smile on his lips once more.

Shaking his head, he turns to me once again, "Jamie, if you were really on the run, Jess would have singlehandedly put you in harms way." Jer says and I understood why he was angry now. "How can she harbor so much hate after all that we have been through, the three of us since grams left us?" Jer stares at me and I see the glint of tears in his eyes.

This is exactly how I felt. How could we abandon each other when for nearly a year, all we had were each other?

Leaning away from the table, I sat up straight and started at my brother sadly, "for a moment she sounded so convincing that, I.. I think I allowed myself to believe her and then Logan's grandfather called him and I could just slap myself for being so stupid. So very stupid." I said still angry at myself.

Her started at me silently for a few seconds longer.

"Eat up" he suggested, pointing at my plate, don't want Gray getting angry with me now, do we?" He laughs dryly.

Even though I had no appetite, I forced myself to consume my dinner for my baby's sake and to ensure that Logan doesn't get upset with my brother.

"Where's mom?" I asked, since I didn't see much of her today.

Lifting his eyes upwards, "she's probably asleep. She didn't like you talking to Jess today and she as good as told Gray off" he said with a smirk.

With a sad smile I stare at him, "but it was good to hear her voice for a bit. Even though she pretended to care," I confess sadly.

Jer stretched out his hands for me to hold and I reached out and joined our hands in the centre of the table, staring silently down at our hands.

"Wow" Gwen says breaking the silence. lifting my eyes to meet hers, I frowned.

"I'm so sorry for ever believing that you guys didn't care about her" Gwen hugs Jer around his shoulders, while smiling sadly at me.

I simply nodded, having already forgiven her.

Looking back at Jer "when did Logan say hell be back?" I asked desperate for his return.

Shrugging his shoulders, 'he didn't say, but he did say he would have been back before you got up." Jer responded.

I eyed the door hoping that he'd walk through now.

"Who did he leave with us?* I asked, knowing that Logan would only leave Justin or Cameron with me.

Raising his eyebrows he stared at me as if I had lost my mind.

lifting his hand, he points to himself, " me?" he snicked. "You have a problem with that?" He laughed softly.

I couldn't hide the surprise on my face, "you?" I laughed out loudly. Shaking my head, I continued to deny it. "He would never." I said inbetween laughs.

Placing the palms of his hand against his chest, Jer feigned a pained heart.

Gwen joined in after a few seconds at Jer boyfriend's pained expression.

I haven't laughed this much in a long time.

As my laughter subsided I turned teary eyes to Jer, "now, who did Logan leave in charge?" I asked again.

Jer pushed his chair back angrily and glared down at me before storming out through the back door.

I exchanged a worried look with Gwen and we await to see what Jer is up to now.

I finished my dinner and Jer still didn't return, so Gwen washed the dishes and tidy the kitchen before joining me at the table.

Without a thought in my head, "as soon as I have the baby you can go back to college" I blurted out and she looked up at me surprised.

I can see the tears already forming in her eyes.

"Why..... Why?" She stammered, her eyes wide an her mouth slightly opened. "Why would you do that?" Gwen continued, but she clasped her hands and stared at them on the table.

"I... I can't" she look at me. "I can't afford it right now" Gwen informs me.

Placing a hand on her clasped palms on the table, "I'll pay for you" I told her, even though I know Logan will be paying for her.

Her eyes widened and she pulled her hands away, to cover her mouth.

"Why, uh, why would you do that?" She asked as tears started rolling down her bruised cheeks.

Smiling gently, "your sister is not the only one who got a good family." I retorted with a smile.

We both looked to the back door as it was pulled open, to see Jer walking in, followed by Whiz, who covered his mouth with a hand as he stifled a giggle.

"So tell her, who Gray left in charge?" Jer demanded, turning to look at Whiz.

Without saying a word, Whiz points at Jer and I still didn't believe it. although it could be believable since they are searching for me but a me, whose leaving the city.

Oh my God, where's Logan?
